Opus Dining & Cocktails

If you could give this place no stars I would. We, my family of 12 in the party, had reservation there for Father’s Day dinner. At the bar, which is opened to the dining area, were the regular drunks watching the NBA finals. Needless to say, it was a night filled with loud f– bombs, loud noise, one waitress, and we didn’t get our dinner for two hours after our arrival time. Considering the owners was behind the bar adding to this ridiculous behavior I expect to see this place on Restaurant Rescue soon.
The food was average at best.

I see this place on my way home everyday. I’m actually moving out of Orange and thought I’d try it out before I left.
Bummer.
Walk in — head to the bar. Girl behind the bar grabs me a menu asks if I’d like a drink. So far so good right?
Then she notices I have a tooth gem (deco-​dent) and comments she had one too till it fell off.
Always being proactive with biz, I mention that we do them at the shop I work at and when she asks how much I tell her $ 40. And if she’d like I’d love to give her a business card. She tells me she gets them done for $ 30 and laughs and goes on about her business.
Now what in the world would make her wanna be a jerk to me I have no clue. Was she really just trying to make me feel bad? Over $ 10? I don’t know this girl and literally had just walked in for the first time. Absolutely no class.
Frankly that seems to be a trend in this city. I’m honestly happy I’m moving.
And I never did order that drink. Kept my biz card. Ordered some pasta anyways (over priced too btw) and still left her an F’in tip. Someone in this place had to have some class.
No wonder it was dead in there.
Last visit. Not recommended.

This place is one of the under-​rated places in the Orange area. The food is consistently good and they make the better steaks around. Generous drinks and decent wine list. A bit of a locals place — but worth trying

Super yummy speghetti and many sauces to choose from. Great speghetti for only $ 5 on Tuesday. Service is fair but what do u expect when 1 guy is taking care of the whole room, He did pretty good. I’d come back.

Had the best ribs of any restaurant in Orange County. I hear there is a new chef and I have to say I’m impressed. I will be visiting regularly for the ribs and can’t wait to try his other dishes.

Great food, classy ambiance, and superb service. Better yet, they have gluten free options, and dairy free as well. The food was very tasty, and portion size for pastas leaves plenty to take home. This will definitely be a monthly occurrence.

We live a few blocks away and have been driving past and seeing the banner for $ 5 Tuesday night pasta for months, finally gave it a try. I thought it was OK, my son didn’t care for it very much and wanted something from the Carl’s Jr before we went home.
I say give them a try, but skip the Tuesday nights and order from the normal menu. The Tuesday night samples, small bowls, lots of rush, nothing but pasta and bread doesn’t make much of a dinning out experience.

Baked ziti, Ravioli and wine! Orange County’s go to Italian restaurant, I love this place! I have been coming here for years and will always suggest dinner at Opus at least once a month. The food at opus is always fresh baked and cooked to order. Prices are on point and the ownership Tim knows how to do it right. Opus also caters they catered our wedding and it was delicious. I highly recommend Tim and his staff to any one looking for catering of any event.

I love this place! It has that whole feggitaboutit flavor, great music, excellent service and a great menu. I have been half dozen times. Last time I had the crab bisque and it was to die for! Subtle, elegant, just as cream and crab should be… and I have been so looking forward to having it again. Hubby’s bday today so I took him out, he had the NY and it was perfection, friend had the pork chop, juicy and full of flavor. I had the crab bisque and a ½ Opus salad. Salad was excellent, could not eat the bisque. It had a cup of salt and cracked pepper in it. I could smell the pepper when it was placed on the table, and one bite and I nearly gagged from the salt. I sure hope they can go back to their original, and allow the customer to decide if they want to over-​season such a delicate dish. So disappointed. Still, very much recommend this wonderful little neighborhood eatery and bar. (Great cocktails, btw).

It was my very first time eating at this place. The reason why I came here besides of the reviews is because I saw a sign saying «Spaghetti Tuesdays: $ 5 All You Can Eat Spaghetti». No way! 5 dollars for all you can eat pasta? That is so awesome! I told my friends about this and they came along with me.
When we barely walked in, the waiter was yelling (in a nice way) «Just a minute, I’ll be right there». After that, we were seated right away. There was only one waiter taking care of the entire restaurant working non-​stop.
About the food, the spaghetti meals are very yummy. So are the sauces! The service is also great and there’s only have 1 waiter. Besides, he did a very good job. All of us forgive his mistakes because we know that he is working so hard, taking care of customers to customers. The waiter kept saying «I’m sorry» to us but we don’t worry because we respect his tough effort. While we wait for our food, we kept staring at the fish tank as the fish and creatures are entertaining us. All in all, we enjoyed our experience at this beautiful restaurant and we’ll come back again soon!
UPDATE: THERE’S NO MORE $ 5 FOR SPAGHETTI TUESDAYS. IT WAS UPGRADED TO $ 7 NOW.

The food at Opus is THE BOMB! The lasagna is on point and they have many affordable specials. Bartenders are great and the owner is a cool guy that always makes you feel welcome. Also, I know it’s a weird thing to mention, but their salad dressings are some of the best I’ve ever had. The Italian is addicting.

Have been coming in for a while now on Tuesdays so can only speak to the all you can eat deal, and it’s fantastic. Don’t be afraid to mix sauces up, they have even suggested as much when becoming indecisive. The bartenders are genuinely friendly and pay quite good attention, always leave with a smile and a full belly!

GREAT Restaurant! I had penne pasta with chicken. It was so good. They call the chef, ‘chefy’. Awesome nice man whom knows how to cook. Iv been back 2 more times, what a great Italian dining experience.

Love this place, great environment, great staff. And the best part is the food! Can’t go wrong with any of the pasta.

This is extremely overdue seeing as how our wedding took place more than a year ago! On that day, Tim made all of our dreams of a flawlessly catered wedding come true. We have no words to thank him for going ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure everything was perfect. To this day our guests continue to rave about the food! We didn’t make the task an easy one for Tim, our venue had no kitchen and yet he was able to deliver the most absolutely delicious, freshly prepared food in perfect time. We would recommend having Tim and his team at Opus cater any event you have, they’re simply the best!

A few months ago, I called the owner Tim about possibly having my reception there and he told me that my husband and should come on by to have a tasting and to come hungry. Well, he wasn’t kidding! All the food that he had us taste were so delicious, that we decided to book the reception here. He even boxed a portion of the eggplant parmigiana, so I could take it to my mom.
Fast forward to this past Friday, My wedding day:
The staff were very helpful when my mom came by earlier that day to drop off the cake and helped her decorate it and set it up. By the time the reception came, everyone was raving about the food and the ambience of the restaurant. My mom’s only complaint was that I didn’t get her some eggplant parmigiana (sorry mom). The staff and Tim were nothing short of amazing to everyone in my party! I even had a quite a few people telling me that they would definitely come back to this place. I would just like to say Thank you to Tim and the staff of Opus For making my day so special. I will definitely will be going back again soon and for many years to come.

Great food and fun was served up this weekend for Super bowl Sunday! If you are looking for a perfect venue for your Valentine’s Day dinner this is the place to find a terrific menu and the best host and wait staff around. You will not be disappointed! Try the veal it is delish!

Well my boyfriend took me here for a night out and to try a new place. My list of fails starts with
1) felt like a library then a crying baby to top it off.
2) I could cook a better steak dinner at home…
3) we asked to take our food to go because after an hour of baby screaming I couldn’t relax anymore, figured I’d take my 80 $ meal to eat at my own house in peace
4) my steak was over cooked which happened to be the special… Baby still crying and screaming (I told the waiter to turn on music so it can defuse the baby). I literally was so annoyed because the waiter asked if everything was ok and I had told him it wasn’t very relaxing so finally I asked to get our food that was average at best to go. My dog didn’t even eat my leftovers.
All in all I was extremely bummed. I will never go back to this place. I hope they realize they need a lot more ambiance and they need to step up the food if they expect to stay around when there are so many other places that are awesome to go to

I’ve only been here twice but both times everyone was friendly.
It’s a small place with a small bar, which is where my friend and I sat. We had the same bartender both times and instead of sitting on her phone all night she spoke to us, asked if we needed anything and wasn’t intrusive or over bearing, she barely looked old enough to serve liquor but had an expierenced personality and she connects well with people.
The second time we went I met the owner, he was wearing a Michigan shirt, and then I realized the majority of Michigan team stickers on the coolers. I lived there for 8 years and he was so nice and down to earth that he had a conversation with us near closing for a decent amount of time even though I’m sure they wanted to pack up and go home. Nice people in the industry are hard to come by so I like to take the time to spread the word :)

Opus has nice service & has been around a little while now. The owner is nice & sociable. They have nice & suitable décor for the restaurant.
As for the Italian dishes & appetizers. We tried the fried calamari & it wasn’t very good. The batter was bland & a little bit greasy. It was served with two lemons & marinara sauce. It was $ 5 at the bar. I think it was the happy hour price. I had a glass Greg Noman Pinot Noir for $ 9. It was a good Pinot, but nothing great.
Then I went to a table to have dinner. I ordered a dinner salad. It had one tomato split in half & it was bland. A few scattered garbanzo beans, some thin strips of mozzarella, and thin strips of salami. A mix of iceberg lettuce & romaine. For my dinner I order capelini noodles with primavera (which is carrots, broccoli, zucchini, tomatoes, garlic & oil), and shrimp. There were 6 plump & finely grilled shrimp. They served a full plate of food that I could not finish. Yay for leftovers! The pasta was ok. It wasn’t anything special. There’s better Italian restaurants in the city of Orange alone. This one is just conveniently close for me. And the pricing is reasonable.
There’s parking up front, but can fill up fast. You can find parking around Carl’s Jr. too.
