I would give this place infinite stars if I can. Charles An and everyone at the Sunnyside Mortuary were so wonderful through our family’s difficult time. Especially for Korean families, that need a mortuary service in Korean, I would choose this place above anyone else. They were patient, respectful, understanding and sincere with every process and gave us time to heal so we were able to say goodbye to our grandma properly. Their attention to details were touching. Charles knew our grandma was Catholic, so he had a cross and holy water ready at the cremation which was beautiful. My family are grateful and feel lucky for being able to fulfill my grandma’s wishes for her last days and we couldn’t have done it with out Sunnyside. Thank you for everything.

The service provided by Sunnyside was great, I cannot say enough about the quality of service we received throughout this tough time. We utilized the Buena Park chapel which was perfect, very quaint. We reserved two days for a wake and mass the second day. Each day we had 6−10pm –perfect hours. Buena Park chapel has room for 150 people and lots of sitting area around, a place to set up food and an enclosed outdoor area for the kids to enjoy. The staff was great made sure we had hot coffee the entire time. I cannot say enough about Charles An, the compassion and respect was unbelievable. Sunnyside is a great selection during these tough moments in ones lives.

I called around to a total of 6 places before deciding to go with Sunnyside. Charles An was the funeral director that was my contact and I met up with him to start the process on the day my father passed away. This is my first time planning a funeral, so I was clueless as to what the whole process entails. Charles asked all the right question, like what is my father’s religion and whether his legal birthday is his real birthday or not. Charles was able to accommodate all of my requests and was prompt in his delivery of the death certificate.
Kelly Vo was the person coordinating the funeral and the cremation arrangements. On the day of the funeral and cremation, she and another director, Hong Sun Shin, made sure that the chapel was set up according to our wishes. They personally greeted all of our guests, had the guests sign in the guest book, showed the guests to the drinks and snack table, and had them seated. Our guests loved them and admired how respectful our coordinators were to not just our families and traditions, but also to the guests themselves. They did everything with care and saw to it that the day went as smoothly as possible so that my family and I did not have to worry about anything. They honored our religious traditions and went beyond with their services.
Overall, I was beyond happy that I went with Charles. The price was very affordable and he gave me an itemized list of all the services with no hidden fees. One of the other funeral service companies that I called would only give me a package price of all of their services and would not list each item out for me. Charles was upfront and honest and very easy to work with.

This Sunnyside service is outstanding. The staffs are personable, competent, and knowledgeable. They are quick and have accurately and very good price. Charles has a special empathy, and his many years’ experiences make him handle each funeral professionally with care and attention. We had to find a cremation service with a small viewing ceremony within a short time because we had a memorial service arranged in another state. There were a lot of decisions and paper work that needed to be done, but he made the process as easy as possible for my grieving family. My mother passed away last week and Sunnyside has been a huge help to our family. Charles who is the funeral director here has been our main point of contact, and he was very informative and helpful with letting us know the process of things that need to be taken care of from A to Z, even before my mother passed. One thing personally that also impressed me greatly was how responsive Charles has been from the start. He has never missed one of my phone calls and has been extremely prompt in getting back to me about everything. They seem to really care and want to help. The little things make all the difference during a time like this. I recommend working with a smaller company such as this especially with such a sensitive time in one’s life. Larger companies seem to be more about the business and making money, and I’ve had some fairly horrible experiences with customer service. We saved a bit of money here when I compared pricing with Rose Hill, so if money is tight, as is the case for many families who lose a loved one, you should definitely look into the pricing difference.
