Tom’s Radiator & Air Conditioning Service

Excellent, honest service! This is a popular shop because of that. Be prepared to leave your car because they always have customers. I highly recommend this shop for the fact that they just want to satisfy the customer without any upselling.

A couple of weeks ago I limped into Tom’s sight-​unseen, with steam roiling out from under the hood of my ’03 Eclipse (literally!). I found Tom’s on Unilocal and took a chance. I was a sitting duck, primed for the slaughter. Instead, Roland and the staff treated me like they had known me for years. The rest is a long story but here’s what impressed me most: Roland fixed what he could (for a great price) but stopped when he got to issues which required taking apart the engine. He even dropped charges for work he did that didn’t solve one of the problems. That’s integrity and I’m sending everyone I know in their direction. In the end the entire cooling system got replaced between Tom’s and my mechanic. It wasn’t pretty but I appreciate that I was treated fairly and if I ever need AC or radiator work in the future, I know where I’ll be going.

I found Tom’s Radiator & Air Conditioning service through Unilocal! It had some good reviews. I did not want to talk my 2003 Honda Odyssey to the dealer for my A/​C repair. Randy the owner and Roland technician provided great service. They were able to diagnose the problem of the A/​C. Roland called and explained what was needed, and I authorized the repair. My experience was 5 stars here. Through the process I was informed, and both Randy & Roland were down to earth and easy to communicate with. I would recommend to a friend.

I came in under warranty and Roland & Randy took take care of my car my AC is back on its nice and cold very reliable people to count on

I recently took my Toyota Tacoma into Tom’s to service the A/​C. Unfortunately I found out that I needed a new condensor and evac to get it to work properly. I had a feeling it may. Tom gave me a quote and I shopped it. I ended up taking the truck right back to Tom because he was giving me a fair deal, and I can live with that. He made the whole process simple, simple, simple, and even gave me a lift to work. I’d recommend Tom’s to friends and family.

Johns auto service down the street recommended this place as man i am not disappointed. These guys r pro, way cheaper, and quick/​efficient. The parkig is very lomited and theres no waitinf area. But u can expect ur a/​c fixed and they r honest and will tell u exact diagnosis not jack u up or lie about the severity of ur a/​c repair. Beware they have limited m-​f hours no wkends. My family has broight 3 cars to them and we r pleased.

This shop is usually always full of cars so call ahead to see what their schedule looks like.
The AC in my 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX was no longer blowing cold. I figured I had to have some sort of leak. I called Toms, because I live down the street in Orange and noticed that they just do cooling systems (radiator, AC, etc)
I went in on a Friday morning at 8am after calling for an appointment the week before.
I talked to Roland and he was very friendly and welcoming. He told me the diagnostic fee and said that he’d give me a call when they had figured out if it was a small leak, or a bigger problem with the AC compressor.
I received a call from Randy two hours later at 10am telling me it was just a couple bad O rings on the compressor manifold. They filled up the tank with R134a freon and I was able to pick up the car. All for just over $ 100 !!!
Overall, I’m very satisfied with the work and the great price.
This is the place I will always go to for AC/​radiator related needs in the future!!!

I have to throw out the disclaimer that I have never been into the shop or had any work done by Tom’s; HOWEVER, I was doing some work on the cooling system on my Jeep and called Tom’s for some advice.
I asked if they thought I should bring in my radiator to be flushed/​tested since I had it out of the Jeep at the time. They could have easily told me to bring it in and could have charged me whatever to have it serviced, but nope, not Tom’s. He gave me good honest advice and said there was no reason to bring it in and waste my money. He gave me some quick tips on how to flush it out before I put it back in and didn’t try and make any $$ off of me by unnecessary service.
In the sometimes shady automotive repair business it is AWESOME to find an honest mechanic that knows what they are talking about and doesn’t just try and make a quick buck.
I will be sure to keep Tom’s in mind for referrals and all of my radiator/​cooling system needs.

Hi my name is Randy and I am the owner and operator of Tom‘s Radiator & A/​C Service in Orange, Ca. I just wanted to thanks all the nice folks for all the good reviews. We try very hard to satisfy all our valuable customers that have been coming to us for service since 1967. Now, I would like to address a very negative review from Eric M. about a 65 Ranchero and an incident that he said he had with Tom (my father) himself. Tom has been totally retired from the business since Jan. 1, 1990 and had not been active in the shop for even 1 day since, so it would have been completely impossible for Eric M. to have any sort of incident with Tom at that time. If I were Eric I would make sure that I had the facts straight before I started giving bad reviews to anyone.

I was driving by Tom’s today and was reminded of an incident I had with Tom himself back in 2001 when I brought my 1965 Ranchero into his shop. It was one of the worst experiences I ever had with any shop, and I was thinking «Man, I wish Unilocal was around back in 2001 so I could vent. But wait! I can still give him a „retroactive“ bad review!» THAT’S how bad it was.
When I was a 18-​year old lad, I brought my classic car into Tom’s to have the cooling system checked out since it tended to overheat. After looking at it for 10 minutes, Tom himself said the radiator needed to be flushed and the coils needed to be straightened. His quote: $ 180. $ 180! So I told him, «Well, I can get a brand new radiator for $ 125, so no thanks».
As I was driving away, Tom came running out and stopped me. He berated me and accused me of getting free advice from shops and then doing the work myself. Uh, no dude — you’re trying to rip off an 18-​year old kid with a service you know fully well is bulls**t. Was I scared by the guy? Of course I was! This grown man is pulling me over and yelling at me for absolutely no reason. What kind of bully does that?
So Tom, as a now 28-​year old car lover and guy who doesn’t even live in the area any more, please let me be the first on Unilocal to introduce you to the repercussions of your abrasive attitude and threatening demeanor. You are a first-​class prick, and even after ten years, I would still sway people away from your pathetic establishment.

Simply put, awesome.
Two Things:
1. My experience: It’s definitely a hole in the wall place with very eclectic décor and they save the frills and only focus on cars. I spoke with Randy and he was very helpful, not only did he fix my radiator in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee but when I went to pick it up he told me to come by anytime ever if I had any questions about it or if something felt off with the car and he would take care of it. Gave me a warranty on it and everything.
2. Price: Dealer quoted me 1800, they charged me 700.
They also took really good care of my buddy who needed his audi worked on. All and all these guys are great, i’d go back here again and again and refer all my friends.
