Chicago Fish and Coral

This is a great place for Saltwater fish supplies. The generally have a great assortment of corals and fish. Customer service is top notch. One thing many people think is that you can just buy a fish and plop it in a tank. When I was new to the salt water world, they took the time to explain to me what to do to properly acclimate my fish and corals! I will absolutely tell my friends to go here.

I have a 100 gallon saltwater aquarium and I needed 25 gallons of saltwater for a water change, i goggled for aquariums stores and this one was the third result. Their website looked like they had a better selection than petsmart of petco. To make it even better its only a ten minute drive from my house so there i go! I walked in with high expectations (to be honest). you have to enter thru the next door reptile store (chicago reptile house). there is a cashier counter right as you enter with a clerk there, i tell him i need to but some salt water, he then very politely replies to go the fish tank section and someone will be there to help you. I walk over to see one other costumer talking with a employee and just looking at the different corals/​fishes and just having a good ol’ conversation. Me not wanting to interrupt, walk around looking for about 25 MINUTES with this employee not even acknowledging that im there, not a «ill be right with you» «you need something» NOTHING and his is still having a good old conversation with this other costumer. Finally 30 mins after i get annoyed and walk back to the counter and tell the clerk that i need to buy water and ive been standing aroung for 30 minutes without any help. Then he screams over to guy (no im a bad tone or anything just had to yell for him to hear him) that i need help, finally then the employee acknowledges me and ask me what i need and after that i was out of there within 5 – 10 minutes.
Overall, the place has a nice rather large selection better than most stores. Pricing is ok not too high or cheap either.
Costumer service sucks and at a place like this creating a good solid costumer base is key, but thats just me! I cannot believe how disappointing this experience was, i really wanted to like this place and maybe become a regular, but i guess ill keep on looking!
