I went in there and the first thing I noticed was the dirty floor. Hello, can someone pick up a mop and clean a little? Loud, hard to hear, hard to see. Reminded me of a biker bar. Even Pizza Hut has a better atmosphere.

I have grown up knowing Tonino’s. My Dad and friends still go every Friday! The owner is very friendly — makes all the food himself! It’s definatly not a dress up kind of place, but it’s a great bar, and has great food! I bought a groupon, and have gone twice in the last 2 weeks. Once with a friend and her two kids!(We sat in a small section by ourselves — PERFECT for the 2 little boys that wanted to horse around!) Last night sat in the main section. The poor waitress was running around like crazy, but always friendly! We didn’t even have to ask for 2nd drinks — she brought them when she saw ours low! Would recommend it to anyone who wants a casual night out with good food!

Wish I had been first to review… been enjoying Tonino’s since I was a kid playing soccer out in OP, way before the rest of the folks in Chicago parishes decided to move out there. Note: it’s a bar. It serves food. I love that. You might not. I grew up on that pizza but now go for one thing: the panzarotti. We each have our favorite, but all agree it has to be FRIED! It’s like a pizza donut. If you don’t like pizza donuts, contact me and I’ll buy your groupon off you. You’re missing out on life. They take your fav ingredients, wrap ‘em in dough like a turnover, fry it, and serve with marinara sauce on the side for dipping. It’s huge. It’s pig out food. It’s awesome. They have a unique, creamy, sweet and colorful house salad dressing. Growing up on it, I’m addicted, and will bring a quart home with me. Try it for yourself. Pizza has a warm doughy crust that is different that anyone else. It’s been in this location for a while, it’s fine, it’s in the corner of a stripmall, not much to expect there, but they have bocce ball courts, so I dig that. It’s basically a bar. OK, it is a bar. Not my bar, but there does seem to be a loyal cast of regulars. I wouldn’t go for dinner with kids, but hey, I don’t have kids, and they probably wouldn’t like the food anyway, it’s nothing like the garbage you’re feeding them. I have no problem bringing my mom. And it’s a full kitchen, with real food that they’ve been turning out for 30 years now — a lot longer than most people in OP have lived there. At the dawning of the sprawl era Tonino’s used to be on LaGrange, back when there were mom-n-pop businesses on LaGrange. It shared an brown brick, 2 story, very 70s mansard-roofed building with a ceramics shop, hobby store /comic book shop, and a video store. Next door there is now a Corner Bakery and Noodles n Co. Go figure. I’d never eat at either. Yet I’m sure the noodles are better at Tonino’s. Nick, the owner, has always been a good guy, loved soccer, supported kids, and we ate a lot of pizza at Tonino’s. Life has changed, but the food never has, and that first bite always brings back some great memories.

my boyfriend and i got a twenty dollar groupon to this place thinking it was a nice italian restaurant, i could find any Unilocal reviews but i found a pic of the place and it looked like it would be, well a nice italian restaurant. so we decided to dress up nice and go there. BIGBIG mistake. i know NOW why there are no Unilocal reviews cause it is not an italian restaurant like it was made to look like but a divey old person bar. it was dark as hell in there and country music was BLARING up the ass. we were standing around wondering where we could sit, no one helped us or even acknowledged we were there. it was the most unwelcoming atmosphere EVER. and after being ignored for like three minutes we just left. the groupon said it was for pizza, pasta, and sandwiches but it seriously looked like a straight up bar and a shitty one at that with old people who did not give two shits about helping you out. the music was SOLOUD you could hear it from reptile village two doors down. waste of gas money and time. unless you are and old person who likes to drink and listen to blaring country music. STAYAWAY.
