Ginther’s Swirls Ice Cream

Yummy creamy soft serve cones, not like the airy fake vanilla soft serve at Dairy Queen. This soft serve is dense, creamy and you can taste the real cream butterfat and vanilla. The cones are fresh and the ice cream and soft serve menu us diverse. Although they only serve dessert, there is always s line at the walk up and drive thru… How can anyone drive with a cone in ur hand? Service is nice, await in their line after the dinner crowds. I had the cyclone, a blizzard if soft serve toasted pecans and butter pecan ice cream. Very yummy. They have old fashioned banana splits, chocolate dipped cones, sundaes, shakes and malts with more than a dozen different Flavors.

The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it only had quart-​sized ice cream options. Everything else was soft serve! It just wasn’t what I was expecting. I guess I should’ve read some of these other Unilocal reviews more quickly!
But we’d been passing this place every day so we figured we’d give it a try! It was cheap and yummy, a good treat! I had a strawberry/​vanilla twist in a waffle cone. The small size was $ 2.30. The normal cone would’ve been $ 1.80. Even though it was nothing very special, it was still good and a great price.
It was very fast service too which was nice! One problem was they didn’t give us our change back. But since there were other customers waiting in line and less than $ 0.20, we just let it go.

I love that they have a drive-​thru although I did use the walk-​up window. I was also surprised that they were the same owners as Twistee Treats, whom I’ve been going to for years. My favorite is their rainbow sprinkled waffle cones and I was happy to learn they come in a mini-​sized cone too! They’re waffle cones are better than Ghirardelli and cheaper too!

I love Ginther’s! You can’t really mess up ice cream unless you really try. The menu is a little overwhelming, but in this case it’s not necessarily a bad thing. So many flavors, toppings, and styles to choose from. Typically, when I go to a joint like this I get something basic to see if they have that down pat. The reason I do this is because if they can’t do something simple right what makes me think they can do something complex right? I ordered a Chocolate Malt Shake for the first time and I was extremely satisfied. The next couple of visits I tried their sundaes and boy oh boy were they on point. I always refer the guests at my property to Ginther’s whenever they ask for a quick treat. Luckily for me, this place is located minutes away from my job, so whenever my wife and I get a craving for something sweet we can count on Ginther’s to satisfy our sweet tooth… teeth? What? You know what I mean.

We stumbled upon Ginther’s when staying at a hotel off of International Drive. It’s a small place, with an ordering counter and a couple tables inside, as well as a drive through and additional seating and umbrellas outside. The ice cream was absolutely creamy and delicious – some of the best soft serve I can remember having. They have a few flavors of soft serve, as well as flavor bursts, sundaes, quarts of hard ice cream, shakes, and blizzards (not called blizzards) where you can mix in the toppings of your choice. Portions are huge and you won’t be disappointed — great way to cool down from the Orlando heat!

We drove 26 minutes out of our way to hit Ginther’s Swirls ICE CREAM. Shortly after arriving, however, we realized it should really be named Ginther’s Swirls SOFT SERVE.
I like soft serve every now and then. It’s great at those buffets where you have a tiny cone or bowl and just want a bite of ‘ice cream’ but for tall waffle cones and sundaes… it’s a mess! My guy hates soft serve and I picked this place because it specifically says ice cream in multiple places on Google Maps. I wanted a sundae of some sort and he wanted ice cream. Hard, pre-​mixed, preflavored ice cream like Rocky Road or something. Not soft serve. Think about a name change, Ginther.
My daughter got a holiday sprinkle waffle cone with strawberry soft serve dipped in chocolate. It took about 30 seconds before it was pouring down her arm. We thought the sprinkles tasted strange but the strawberry soft serve was very strawberry flavored and she loved it. Then again, she’s 5.
I got the ‘almond joy’ vanilla sundae which is fudge, coconut, and almonds. Well, almond shreds or something. It was alright but it took forever to get to the fudge! The almonds were a bit chewy and the coconut tasted like shredded coconut from the store. Nothing out of the ordinary but not bad.
My guy ordered a shake ‘as chocolatey as you can make it’. Not sure what was in it. He says it tasted like Hershey’s chocolate syrup mixed with chocolate soft serve and he was not a fan.
Service was good and the woman made our orders as we indecisively chatted about it between orders. The building is very small, featuring a few indoor seating areas including a large party booth. Outside are a few covered tables and 3 benches. One of them, between the outdoor order areas, has a super cute sugar cone ice cream design that would be a great photo op. There is also a drive-​through and ample parking. The restrooms are located on the outside of the building.
We ate outside at the tables and had to move a few times before we realized the stench of urine was coming from the center of the patio area and stayed upwind. The women’s bathroom remained occupied throughout the visit.
I don’t think we’ll return but I would recommend this place to someone who enjoyed soft serve as long as they were getting it from the drive through.

Stuffed after a meal at Giordano’s, somehow it is always easy to have a small ice cream in the hot Florida sun. So we couldn’t resist a stop in here on the way home for «a little somethin’ sweet,» as my Pop used to say. Their chocolate-​vanilla swirl is classic, and I had mine in a plain sugar cone in the sugar free version which is undetectable from the regular version. Mom and my wife had the same, with my mom’s in a plain sugar cone and my wife going for her usual waffle cone. Hard to get it all down but we did all order the smallest size!

Cute spot! Right on International Drive, it’s a great place to stop after shopping at outlets or theme parks. Save all your sweet tooths for after theme parks!
This is a great, cheap alternative to any expensive theme park sweets (except Dole Whip because there is no alternative to that).
I got a small cyclone with Reese’s (thick ice cream with your choice of mix-​ins) and their ice cream was creamy (you’d be surprised) and the portions are GIGANTIC. I could only finish half of the small by myself. You can easily share a child size/​small between two people. And it’s SO cheap at $ 2.45.
They also offer sugar-​free soft serve!

Friendly service. Clean. Quick and efficient. And the ice cream is cheap. My boyfriend and I shared a banana split. They used their strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate soft serve. It was delicious!!! Large enough for us to share.
They have a nice little sitting area outside and a super cute Ice cream sundae bench. Definitely worth a stop!

One word. Awesome. It is a great place to go if you are staying in this area. The employees were friendly and helpful, plus you can’t beat the price! I would go back if I lived in the area. I would highly recommend trying a cyclone, you can make it exactly how you want and their small is bigger than any size at a Dairy Queen or other chain.

There really isn’t much I love more than feeling like I found a great deal. Ginther’s is just that– delicious ice cream at a great price! It’s centrally located in Orlando right on International Drive, so you can stop in for a treat between visiting all of the attractions. The best part is that they’re open late and there’s even a drive-​thru window for added convenience.
I ordered a waffle cone with chocolate and vanilla swirl. And what’s a cone without rainbow sprinkles on top? It was just what I needed to end the day. I also tried a bite of the strawberry vanilla swirl and might have liked that even more! There are tons of flavors, toppings, and even sugar-​free options to choose from. It’s a good thing that I don’t live closer, because I’d probably be at Ginther’s every day!

As part of my quest to try all the finest ice cream establishments in the Country, Ginthers came up as a possibility.
I usually do not review soft serve, but their vanilla was dense and flavorful, and they had other favors beyond chocolate, vanilla, and chocolate vanilla swirl. The flavor they had were strawberry, strawberry swirl, and the flavor of the day, pistachio!
This was a full service DairyQueen like place but with many more choices of toppings, sprinkles, etc.

This little ice cream shop is so tiny and cute! Although their flavor selection is not that large, they are creative with what they do have. The staff are extremely nice and happy. They have a small sitting area inside and a slightly larger area outside. The best part is that they have a drive-​through option!

After an afternoon of exploring Disney’s resorts via plane, train, and automobile (or monorail, boat, and bus. Whatever.), I had a hankering for an ice cream sundae. Wanting something other than the prohibitive Mouse Money, I did a Unilocal search and discovered Ginther’s. An easy drive up to Sea World and my problem was solved in the most delicious fashion.
For starters, it’s a bit tucked away on I Drive just south of the intersection by Sea World. A Wawa was nearby, which made sitting outside a little unpleasant since the breeze was wafting our way, but carcinogens be darned. We queued up with all the other lovely people and quickly received our orders once we were at the front.
I love soft serve ice cream and am very happy to have found a place in Central Florida that is good at it. Even better? Mint ice cream. I had a hot fudge sundae with mint ice cream and was quickly in a sugar coma. In retrospect, I would have gotten the 4 oz size instead of 8 oz and asked them to hold the cherry and whipped cream, but now I have my order ready the next time I visit. The prices were much lower than I was expecting, which was an added bonus. We had two (delectable and generous) sundaes for the price of one sundae on Disney property.
Love a deal, love soft serve ice cream, love mint ice cream, love writing slightly incoherent reviews. 5 stars for Ginther’s for their tasty treats and prices that can’t be beat.

This place wasn’t anything special to me. I had soft serve, chocolate/​vanilla swirl, with cookie dough and brownie in it. When I first received it, they made it wrong with only vanilla soft serve. They remade it for me correctly and apologized. It was refreshing and just what I needed after sitting out a spring training game for hours, but it wasn’t anything great. A major disappointment to me was that the brownie and cookie dough that was put in it was blended to a pulp with no chunks of anything whatsoever in it. It was just specks, which was not enjoyable since you couldn’t really taste any of the mix-​ins.

Always looking for something new or different that we don’t have at home in Oregon… we found it! So many choices, so many flavors and add-ons…Sugar free chocolate & Vanilla soft serve too!
The dessert options are amazingly delicious… but it’s also the excellent customer service that has brought us back two… three…four times while in Orlando for a convention!

Whenever I’m in a new city, I always turn to Unilocal to search for «low carb» and «sugar free.» Imagine my excitement when Ginther’s Swirls came up as having «sugar free ice cream.» Of course we hopped in the rental car and headed there, ready to fill our bellies with creamy, sugar free frozen goodness. We weren’t disappointed. How much do I love this place? Well, we discovered it 3 days into our vacation and we went back every single day ’til we left Florida. Yep.
This is obviously a mom and pop operation and has a very small, family-​run feel to it. There’s not much seating inside so if it’s a rainy afternoon, be prepared to eat in your car. The prices are CHEAP, especially considering the quality of the product, the large portions, and the friendly service.
I only had the sugar free ice cream and it was so yummy! Very thick, rich and creamy and without that overly sweet articfical taste. I don’t know how they do it but they do it right! They have two sugar free flavors, vanilla and chocolate. They’ll also swirl them together. I tried all flavors and the swirl is the best. I did not try any full sugar choices so I can’t comment on those, but if you are a diabetic or want to watch your sugar intake, make sure you stop here!
There are tons of toppings you can add too, but no sugar free options (except for almonds, peanuts and pistachios). It would be cool if they could add a sugar free hot fudge or something, but hey, this is Florida — you are lucky to find ANY sugar free treats at all!
Note that this family also owns the Twistee Treat LBV. We went there once too because it was closer to our hotel, but the sugar free ice cream there wasn’t nearly as good as the sugar free stuff at Ginther’s Swirls. Go figure.

Danger! Danger! This is too close to my house to be this delicious!
They have terrific soft serve, wonderful waffle cones, and their malted milk shakes are the real deal and delicious! The prices are unbelievably low for the quality you receive, and the portions are generous.
There’s easy parking, plus there’s a drive through. No real indoor seating of which to speak.

I love Swirls and I go about once a week. I was so excited when I saw an ice cream shop opening up closer to me than Friendly’s (which despite their name, has terrible service). Swirls has a convenient drive thru, indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is always super friendly and their soft serve is delicious.
I recommend the flavor burst soft serve, especially the tropical orange, it’s so satisfying! They have tons of options and they even have an extra flavor of the week that changes and it’s pretty cool because there’s always something different to try. I definitely would recommend this place for anyone looking for a cold refreshing treat in the I-​drive area of Orlando!
