Coming here was simply a matter of necessity. You’re in a water park. Check. You get hungry. Check. It’s a dead day at said water park. Check. Add in that Disney decides to close Typhoon Tilly’s & Lowtide Lou’s for the day which meant that the only place in the entire park to get anything other than ice cream, a stuffed pretzel, booze or a waffle sandwich was here. Yipee! Certain things were not too bad like the Island Burger which allows you the awesome combination of having meat with a side of meat as they take a regular burger and top it with pork BBQ. Later it was a 100% colon blow but for the time, not too bad. Other things like the chicken sandwich were more of a not so much as from what I was told the chicken had a rubber texture to it along with being very bland. Speaking on things which are bland, let’s not forget the awesome Key Lime Pie Dessert Cup which tastes like it does not have one natural ingredient in it. That one might win the booby prize with it being bland and artificially synthetic to the max. One other misnomer here is that the Disney website says that the kids meals are served in a sand pail with shovel that Leaning Palms gives you. That’s nice boiler plate but obviously the food is not served in the pail. Also one more thing, the area around Leaning Palms has a major issue with American White Ibis birds begging, stalking and almost intimidating people for food. While we were sitting there one dive bombed a table so that it could knock over a tray with fries and nuggets on it after a guy thought it would be fun to start feeding the birds almost by hand. After that about a dozen swarmed that area. So don’t be an asshole. Keep the human food for the humans and let the animals forage for their own food.

Just got back home from a wonderful family day at Typhoon Lagoon. Needless to say we had a great time at the park, but my husband and I talked about how good our lunch was during our car ride home, so I have to tell you all about our experience at Leaning Palms. I know it sounds crazy, but we took our kids to a Disney water park on the Fourth of July! Yes, it was super hot and busy, but the crowds were not as bad as we expected. We decided to grab lunch before settling down on a spot for the day. It was mid afternoon, but we walked right up to the register and ordered. My husband noticed a special entrée posted right out front and not on the menu board above the counter. It was a chicken with rice, black beans and plantains dish that looked pretty appealing in the picture, so we ordered that to share and the nuggets and fries for the kids to share. We also ordered the refillable mug for 9.99 Typically Disney’s quick service portions are large enough to share and here was no exception. We brought our order to a well shaded picnic area nearby. The soft drinks are self-service and one of the options at this location is apple flavored soda(Mexican I think). It’s really good. The best part of lunch however, was the chicken and rice dish. It wasn’t just-theme park-good, or better than expected. It was-we would order this dish in a local restaurant-good. Very well seasoned, lots of flavor, just enough food for the two of us. I really hope this is something they’ll add to the permanent menu. On a side note, the kids nuggets were decent, and the service was fast and friendly. Definitely looking forward to having lunch here the next time we take the family to Typhoon Lagoon!

Reasonable prices and good simple food selection. Nothing extravagant. I was glad they offered some vegetarian options for variety of diets our group had. I would recommend it. black bean and plantain burger was surprisingly tasty for vegetarians. They either come with fries or apple slices(for healthy eating). Great for keeping you light for h2o activities. All is all, happy and healthy menu…

Your average amusement park food fare… overpriced, terrible french fries, average nuggets. You DO get a cookie with most meals. And I’m stoked they allow alcohol to be sold at these places! That never happens in California. The line moved pretty quickly, and it was nice to sit and eat in the shade.
