Oudom Thai & Sushi

Great service and food! The panang wasn’t as sweet as I typically like it but still delicious. If you’re not from Orlando, it’s in a very cute neighborhood. Great area for date night. :)

Great sushi and great service! Compared to Amura’s and Shari sushi this place is just the best. The quality of their food is super!

Went here for the first time on Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend. Calamari might have been the best I’ve ever tasted. I got the sweet and sour chicken and she got the pad Thai with scallops. Both delicious. Drinks where poured very strong. Service was friendly, food came out quick, and the managers/​owners came to check on us themselves (very cool). Great prices for the portions as well.
All in all blew away my expectations, didn’t think I’d be saying this, but I hope to be back many times.

We Ordered the sushi combo, tom yum shrimp soup, tofu tempura, whole snapper, and drunken noodles and everything was absolutely delicious! If we lived in the area this place would be a regular spot. Plus the staff was very friendly. This place is a must try!

This place is legit! If you haven’t been before you have to check it out. We’ve been multiple times and have never been disappointed or ordered something we didn’t like. The sushi is awesome, the pad thai and drunken noodles are delicious and the drinks are tasty.
The owners obviously care and the service is awesome.

One of my all time places for Sushi, my wife loves the Thai — great atmosphere, wonderful staff, very clean and great menu — just love the place!

I started off with the cheese crisp roll, which is a cream cheese and shrimp stuffed spring roll… like. Crab wontons, but better. I tried some chicken satay, it was juicy and tender, the peanut sauce was excellent.
Then I tasted the following rolls, each one was delicious:
Snow white
Super Mexican
Volcano — not typical, is not served with warm gooey cheese on top, as you might expect of volcano rolls.
Bubba — must try!
Mexican — awesome
We finished off with a solid mango plus sticky rice and their special key lime pie (which I would have preferred a tiny bit more chilled) but it was good.
Nice, upscale ambiance. Melissa, our server, was fantastic! Looking forward to my next visit.

Another really good sushi joint in Thornton Park. Oudom brings a happy marriage between Thai and Japanese, and you’ll love every bite of it.
I dined at Oudom for lunch with a few coworkers. The restaurant was quiet — only a few other patrons at the time — which was very nice. The restaurant itself is lovely. Modern, clean and trendy. The service was great too. We were seated promptly and our waiter was very attentive.
We each ordered a bowl of miso soup followed by a smörgåsbord or sushi to share. For starters, the miso soup was fantastic. Just the right amount of flavor, perfectly balanced.
And then there was the sushi. We may have gone a bit overboard: 1 protein roll, 1 yellowtail salmon roll, 2 spider rolls, 1 heaven roll and 1 volcano roll. Plus an order of salmon sashimi. Did I mention there were only three of us?
…we ate everything. There were no leftovers.
But the sushi was that good! Very fresh. Very flavorful. And very unique. We got an interesting mix of rolls, each very different from the other. I think my favorite was the heaven roll (At least, I think it was the heaven roll. All the rolls came served on just a few plates so I kinda lost track of which was which. :)). It was topped with a pile of pulled crab meat. Yum!
Really great food. My goal is to return very soon to try the Thai side of their menu. Definitely one of my new favorite lunch spots downtown.

Fairly priced and properly portioned are two pleasant things to be found at this eatery in the corner of the sanctuary building. The staff will take their time with you exploring the menu and making sure you select a dish that will suit your mood. Bonus, they are located right off of the Lymmo line that also serves the Dr. Phillips Center so you can park there (they have valet that’s pretty cheap), eat, and take the free bus to you show (or make the 10 minute walk). Can’t wait to return!

There is nothing positive to report. This is an absolutely must avoid type of restaurant that represents all that can be wrong…
Upon arrival no hostess was present, after standing at the entry awkwardly for a few moments the sushi chef asked if I’d like to sit at the bar. I obliged considering the lack of other prospects.
The bar was not bussed from a previous customer, the dirty glasses and check sat in front of me until my drink was retrieved. I had tea, which was fine.
I ordered the lemongrass rings entrée with tofu. I asked for Thai hot and brown rice. When my entrée arrived I had no silverware and no rice was delivered. I asked the runner for brown rice and she informed me it was $ 2 extra and would take a few moments. 5 min later a plate of brown rice arrived that clearly came out of the microwaveable pouch and was very overcooked. Inedible for sure and a total culinary embarrassment for a proper Thai place.
The actual entrée was visually appealing and overall wasn’t horrific in flavor etc. However, I had asked what the healthiest entrée was and that’s what I ordered. The tofu was fried and overly oily and generally ruined any possibility of healthy eating. Maybe that’s the healthiest they have, but it wasn’t even close to my expectation of steamed veggies and tofu.
The service from the bartender was laughable, actually thought it was a joke at one point. No drink reload or inquiry if my dinner was good etc. She had multiple full blown conversations with friends from behind the bar… all while I needed attention.

With the weather being gorgeous the past week, it seemed appropriate by the staff at my work to boldly venture out into the concrete jungle, leaving the comfort of our cubicles for the hunt of a good lunch. In less grandiloquent language, our eyes were getting tired of our computer screens and our butts of our chairs so we decided to take a break.
One of us had been to Oudom before so we decided to check it out since it was right around the corner. The location is open and bright with plenty of natural lighting. Our waiter, CJay (according to the receipt), was in rare form, cracking jokes and apologizing at our misfortune of having him as a waiter. He was going to be on shift all day so I guess he was making the most of it.
Lunch is served with small ginger salads, a standard for Thai restaurants. I thought it was refreshing and the dressing was sweet but not overly so. My only disappointment was that most of it settled on the bottom of the plate and didn’t stick to the lettuce.
I ordered the wonton soup with medium heat. Boy, was I glad I only did medium. It had a nice burn that left my lips tingling. The real star was the broth. It tasted homemade with a beautiful richness that seemed to indicate it had been simmering for hours. The wontons were equally tasty and tender not overly chewy.
My co-​workers got pad dishes and one got the Beauty and the Beast roll. The roll was eloquent in presentation and my coworker said it was excellent. The roll menu seemed fairly priced for it being downtown and a sushi restaurant. You could get a California roll freshly made for $ 5.99. I’m not sure even Publix could match that.
The restaurant was not overly busy during the lunch hour. It could be because it is located in the opposite direction of the business center. My suspicion is that it may also do with the slowness of service. Though the staff was friendly, it took us an hour and a half to have lunch. With few people in the dining room, it should not have taken that long even if dishes are being made fresh. With it being downtown, in order to survive as a restaurant, the staff will have to adapt to faster service in order to attract those for whom time is money.
All that being said, our foray out of the office was a great success. I would love to go back and try one of the curries. I hope Oudom is here to stay.

I’ve dined here three times. Each and every time the service and food have been fantastic. This may be the concept that actually works in this space that seems to have been cursed.
Graze was awesome for as long as it lasted; Prickly Pear was ill-​conceived and poorly executed, and thus poorly received; of the next two, Mingos was just turning the corner when the parent company’s leader got indicted and all related ventures folded.
Oudom is no newcomer to the downtown Orlando dining scene. He and his family started and later sold another still-​operating successful Thai restaurant in the area.
I’m impressed with the fact that Oudom himself replies to many of the reviews on Unilocal and really does want to elicit genuine feedback and improve where they fall short. No restaurant has 100% satisfied customers; sometimes you have a bad day (that may apply to the restaurateur and the patron alike). Addressing issues in a positive way is the best one can possibly do.
I’m impressed by the star score of this establishment in such a short period of time, but I shouldn’t be, because these people have multiple successful restaurants and know what they are doing. Kudos!

This was not a neck of the woods that I would’ve originally gone to but a Unilocal event was scheduled here and boy am I glad that it was!
The restaurant very kindly upheld our reservation for 11+ despite a private party taking up most of the restaurant. Despite this, the staff was still WONDERFUL and paid tons of attention to us! And our waitress was informative and down to earth!
There was a lot of different food options, which would usually deter me but I tried a bit of everything and it was delicious! I had the pad Thai and although not as spicy as I would like it was an extremely good, well rounded dish. Same for the yellow curry. My boyfriend had the beef flank and the sauce had such good flavoring. I didn’t try one, but the cocktails looked amazing and everyone said they were strong.
I will definitely have to venture out to this place more often!

Oudom is the latest restaurant to move into this space which some would call a jinxed location based on the number of places that moved in & out. I’m not a betting woman but I sure hope it survives! We rode our bikes here on a Saturday afternoon and the server outside offered for us to place our bikes in a safe place behind their gate. We opted to sit outside since the weather was gorgeous. They had just opened for the day so it was rather quiet with only a few parties on the inside.
The inside & outside over the space is about the same from when I remember it being Mingos but clearly ambiance was not the reason the many places didn’t thrive. We ordered the Super Mexican Roll and the Kentucky roll (chicken for
myBF who is still unsure about raw fish). I loved the Super Mexican roll… It was flavorful with spicy tuna, cream cheese and avocado but wrapped in a crunch crust. The Kentucky was not overly exciting but as described and I appreciated the chickens inside was not fried. We sampled their spring rolls which were served steaming hot but I didn’t love some vegetable inside that had a strange taste like ginger but stronger. The pot stickers and sate skewers were tasty chickeny goodness with nicely balanced seasoning and accompanying sauces. I loved the little salad that comes with the chicken skewers — it was light & refreshing with the heavier peanut sauce.
We were stuffed but I couldn’t leave with out trying their Massaman curry! I opt for chicken as my protein and wow… It had such and amazing curry sauce I wanted to slurp the bowl! Well cooked carrots, potatoes, and onions with a dash of cashew & tomato. Great balance of spice (I requested medium) and coconut milk flavor. Rich, complex and delicious!
Service was prompt and friendly! Next time, I’d love to try the roast Duck and the pineapple fried rice and save room for dessert.
I think if they had a food/​drink HappyHour special of some kind, that would do well in this area…

To be honest, I have a negative bias against combo restaurants that offer multiple types of cuisine. In my mind the food is better when they focus on just one. I probably wouldn’t have gone to Oudom on my own, but was happy to try it out for Pam & Ryan’s December UYE. I can’t speak to the Thai food, but the sushi was decent and pretty reasonably priced. I had the beauty and the beast roll (minus the cream cheese) and the tempura sweet potato roll. I also had a cucumber martini, which was tasty and quite strong. I’ll throw in a double negative and say I won’t not go back, but Oudom also isn’t going on my must repeat list.

I’m a HUGE fan of Thai food. So when a friend suggested we check out this place, I was game. We had a little trouble finding parking but I blame it on the coincidence of it being Thursday night Art & Wine Walk in Thornton Park. I’m not terribly familiar with parking in this area so prepare to either park off street and walk or in one of the garages nearby.
The restaurant is beautiful. It’s in the space that was formerly Mingos. It’s crazy because it looks really swanky and upscale which is not what I’m accustomed to when having Thai food. Most places I’ve been to are rather humble with outdated décor. This place blew me away as soon as we walked in. We saw a mix of people dressed up for a night out and then others that were in shorts that obviously lived in the area. But don’t let the swankiness fool you.
The servers and owner are some of the nicest people I have come across when it comes to dining out. The owner came over to check on us often and to make sure all was ok. The menu is a fusion of classic Thai favorites and then they also have a sushi bar! It’s like my Asian food fantasy come true. And, oh, they have a full bar and cocktail menu. I started with a blueberry mojito. And since I couldn’t decide– ordered the Stetson Roll (they were able to take out the cream cheese for me) and the Pad Thai with chicken. Ever go to a restaurant where the plates are pretty but you go home hungry? Well you won’t have that problem dining here! Everything that came to our table (including my order) was plated beautifully and the portion size was plentiful annnd delicious.
The pricing was actually affordable considering the area and the ambience of the restaurant. And considering I had leftovers, it was a good value for the amount of food. I’m looking forward to taking my husband here to check them out. If they were an eensy bit closer, I would come here for lunch ! Making sure to spread the Unilocal word of mouth…

Located in Eola Square just below The Sanctuary, this new spot has some great food. The service could use a little pep in their step but it was a pretty good experience. It’s not the luckiest spot for a restaurant but I have hope that they will stick around. The location is gorgeous and they have tons of bar seating, dining room seating and outdoor seating to enjoy a gorgeous evening or dine with your fur babies in tow.
We started with two plates:
Sate chicken — chicken skewers grilled w/​sliced cucumber and peanut sauce — wow, the chicken was so tender and the peanut sauce was thick and perfect.
This is listed under salads and it realm is! Lettuce Wrap — Minced chicken mixed with onion, fresh ginger, and cashews served beside wedged lettuce for you to wrap. Wow! The serving was huge and could have easily been my dinner. The cashews were the perfect addition for texture.
The rolls are huge. I ordered 2 but only had room for ½ of each so took the leftovers and had them for lunch the next day, delicious. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the sushi menu and the two I ordered are not listed on their site. I ordered 1 cooked (with Lobster, nom!) and 1 half and half with mango. Lovely. Really impressed with the size and overall taste. Can’t wait to try more.
The chef/​owner came out to say hello, loved that nice touch.
This is their second location and I really love that this place is downtown now and hope it stays. Go check it out!

Just checked out this new downtown Orlando restaurant and I must say it’s a keeper! I’m a big fan of Thai food, and this mid-​priced joint — nestled in the bottom of The Sanctuary in a location where many eateries have struggled to survive over the years — has a unique, varied menu.
My dining buddy and I started out with a couple of glasses of wine, along with some appetizers: me, the chicken skewers (amazing flavor and moist); her the lettuce wraps. For my main dish I went with one of the chef’s recommendations: Crispy Duck. I’ve always enjoyed duck but it’s a bit shotty as to whether or not places really know how to prepare it. This place certainly does. An ample, ample plate, the duck had tons of flavor, and was accompanied by various peppers, cucumbers, carrots and more.
Suffice to say we did not have any room for dessert… although the photos posted by some fellow Unilocalers look quite delicious so I’ll have to be sure to check some of them out on my next visit.
After a quick little hello from the owner of the place (nice, right?!), my dinner partner and I wobbled out and headed home.

I have had Thai food in SF Bay area, New York, Thailand, and this place is the best in Orlando! In addition, I am Southeast Asian so I can be particular with my Asian food. It is my new to go place. It is located in Thornton Park right by Lake Eola.
The atmosphere is sleek and sophisticated. The menu has a vast option to choose from. The staff was friendly and attentive. The parking can be a challenge in the area but its well worth it. Moreover, it has outside seating with cover and fan that is dog friendly.
We ordered the calamari, pineapple fried rice, pad Thai, and mango sticky rice. From the calamari to the Mango and Sticky Rice, through the fried rice and pad Thai and all the other specialties, great care and love is shown. You can definitely see the owner focus a lot on the food, including the presentation (which I am a sucker for.) 5 stars for great customer services, ambiance, quality, and off course the authentic, delicious, and pretty food!

Had some excellent sushi at the Oudom DeLand location, so I was eager to try this elegant new Oudom location in Downtown Orlando. The new restaurant is on S. Eola, not too far from Lake Eola but in a location that is a little out of the way of Central Blvd (across from Muchos Tacos & Tequila). It’s worth the trip down the side street to come here for sure. The sushi is fresh and the rolls are an abundant size.
For starters our server brought out a small lunch salad with ginger dressing. I ordered two sushi rolls and realized that I really had a large lunch ahead of me. I tried the Super Mexican roll and the Bubba roll. Both were generously portioned and the plating was so pretty. Love the Thai influence of sliced lime and shredded vegetable garnish. Loved the Super Mexican roll! Didn’t realize it was fried, but so good and I should have just ordered that one roll. The rolls range mostly around $ 9.99 and up. Some are a little less if they are basic items like a California roll. About the same prices as you would expect to find in Downtown Orlando.
The restaurant has lots of seating and a bar in the middle of the room that serves liquor. When I mentioned to our server that I have been to the DeLand location he told me that the same chef makes all the curries and recipes here. A great date place and it’s quite elegant looking inside. Would also be a nice place to go if you’re downtown with friends.
