History

Established in 2009.

Like so many other great ideas, Real Thread was born out of discontent in 2009. Screen printing t-shirts was a stagnant market and it felt as if little was being done to breathe life back into it. Plastisol inks ruled the industry, but felt boring. The prints weren’t worthy of being your «favorite t-shirt» because they lacked that soft, comfortable, vintage feel. Water based and discharge printing was around, but printers weren’t really using it on a regular basis. At the time it felt unavailable to the average buyer. It’s use needed to progress, not only in availability, but in education and awareness as well.

Meet the Business Owner

Dru D.

Business Owner

Dru graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2008 with degrees in Finance & Accounting. Like most college students, Dru needed a part time job while in school and therefore started his first printing business. Shortly after graduation, Dru and Patrick (a college friend) decided to start printing on a more serious level. They upgraded from a garage to a warehouse where Real Thread was founded in 2009.

When Dru isn’t living at the office, building the company and making clients happy, he spends time with his lovely wife and their two baby boys!

He is also an active member of the Summit Church community here in Orlando. Besides being the nicest person you will ever meet, Dru reads a book every weekend and prefers Publix subs or chips and salsa for lunch over anything else during the «working» week.
