Ron Jon’s Automotive

I am new to Orlando and in the first 3 weeks of my stay my Honda accord battery died while while I was at the Mall and had a doctors appointment soon after. While I called GEICO to come and quickly jump start my car, I used Unilocal like I always do to find out a car mechanic nearby.
I saw Ron and Jon on the list and saw 3 great reviews. Since it was on my way to my Doctors place from the mall I called them and asked them if I could quickly come over drop off my car and someone could drop me to my doctors place and pick me up in an hour. They said yes they an do that and I drove over to Ron and jons — not knowing what to expect.
Since my this is the 3^rd time my car battery was having an issue in a month, GEICO person told me that the battery and perhaps even the alternator may need replacing.
When I arrived at Ron and Jons I was in panic hurry and the person looked at me and realized I needed to hurry since I was already running late. All he did was ask for my name and cellphone number nd instantly directed me to the backdoor where a guy was waiting in his car to drop me off.
That individual drove ad best as he could to drop me off at my doctors place. An hour later when I stepped out of my doctors office, the same person was waiting for me in my car!
He drove me back and they charged me $ 145 for battery and labor. They told me the alternator was fine and so am all set.
I appreciated their honesty and promptness. The Powertron battery they installed has same warranty as any other leading brand and similar price point. So am happy.
Definitely going to use them for all my car needs.

Just completed getting my car service at Ron Jon’s auto.
I had a humming sound coming from my car as I would drive down the road. I had taken my car to another shop and was told it was a wheel bearing going out. They said if it was one then I needed to replace them all, along with new tires and struts/​shocks. The cost quoted was $ 3,400. I decided to get one more quote and that is how I ended up at Ron Jon’s.
After checking my car out, they recommended just new tires to see if that fixed the noise problem. It did, but they also inspected the struts/​shocks & brakes, which they said were fine at this point. I can get another 10k miles or so.
They did do an alignment on my car as well for a total cost of $ 700, saving me $ 2,400!
I can’t say enough about the honesty and true professionalism of this shop. Highly recommend them!

While in Orlando the weekend of august 15 for a wedding, i went to leave and got as far as wildwood fla and my car broke down, i had a friend come get me in wildwood and since we were not sure what was wrong, i had it towed to ron jons so they could look at it and service it, my friend told me they were pretty good guess if you are a local and not a vistor. they had my car all day on monday, called me and told me my car was ready, said it was the battery, i did ask if it may have been the alternator and they said no just the battery. i was happy to hear that, so i went on my way, well only to make it 3 hours outside of orlando again and guess what my car broke down again, this time i had it towed to Atlanta and had it checked at another shop there and guess what it was the alternator, so for hundreds of dollars it cost me for the tow to orlando the poor service at ron jons and the extra tow to atlanta and now the cost of repairs at a new service station. after reading the reviews of others and they are good, i just dont understand how i was not treated the same, maybe because again i was a vistor not a local which is very sad,

This place is amazing! I have taken my car there twice and they were very honest with me both times. The most recent time I took my car because I suspected I needed new rear wheel bearings. I took it in on a Thursday evening. They called me by 10 a.m. the next day and they told me that they thought it was because I needed two new tires. They weren’t pushy about me getting the tires from their shop but thought that may be the issue; they were right. This saved me so much money, I couldn’t be happier with this shop. My sister and her husband have also taken both of their cars here and have raved about how amazing the staff is. I highly recommend this place.

My car was overheating and we really couldn’t figure out why. I brought it to Ron Jon’s and am so glad I did! They kept my vehicle for 2 days to make sure they could find the problem. They could not figure out what was going on because my car decided not to overheat while it was in their care, but they didn’t even charge me for keeping my car for the 2 days! They took their time out to drive it around and inspect it for no charge? So awesome of them! You just don’t hear about auto businesses like that nowadays. Eventually I got the problem fixed but I’m thankful for them truly trying! Very nice people!

After seven years in Orlando bouncing around to different auto shops, I’ve finally found one I’ll go back to!
I dropped off my car for an oil change and inspection using the coupon on their website. There were a few weird things going on with my car that I wanted them to check out. Later, they called me with an estimate and only addressed the issues I’d asked them to resolve. I didn’t feel like they were trying to upsell or scare me into getting more work done on the car. It was refreshing to feel like I was talking to an honest and trustworthy mechanic.
I can’t exactly say I’m looking forward to going back — I’m never eager to take my car to the repair shop! — but at least now I know where I’ll go the next time my car needs fixing.

This place is a gem! I was able to have my brakes, rotors replaced short-​notice prior to the holiday weekend. I’m so happy I’ve found a place for my automotive needs. Like others stated, the prices are fair and honest shop!!!

I’ve been meaning to write this for some time, but well, you know…
Anyway, we were referred to Ron Jon’s after our old mechanic John Downing of Downing Automotive retired. Ron Jon’s is indeed an honest shop. On my last visit I had them investigate a noise in the front end, perform 90,000 mile maintenance, check a leaking radiator and thought the brakes might be ready for replacement. In short, I was expecting $ 600 — $ 1000 repair. Instead the only thing they found to replace was the radiator for $ 240.
This level of honesty is refreshing, appreciated and quite frankly, surprising. It would have been very easy to say yes the brakes need to be replaced, this needs to be fixed, etc and pad their bill, but they didn’t do that.
Sometime after my visit I decided to rotate my tires and while doing that one of the front end passenger lug nuts was cross threaded and it broke off as I was trying to get it off. Since the last time the wheel was off was at Ron Jon’s I went back to them and they replaced the lug nut shaft at no cost.
So if you’re in need of an honest shop, I highly recommend this one.

When we bought a used 2000 Ford F-​350 Diesel in December 2010, my Honda car mechanic recommended this shop for any diesel needs. The car mechanic was concerned about the level of fluid in the engine that appeared to be leaking. I drove on over to Ron Jon’s, and they were too busy to take the truck in that day. The owner came out to the parking lot and took a look under the hood. He asked several questions about my concerns and assured me that the fluid around the engine was normal for a diesel truck. He didn’t charge me anything & he gave me several tips about checking the oil level frequently and never towing in overdrive. I had not had an opportunity to go back to Ron Jons, but I had an excellent first impression that the owner really cared to make sure we took good care of the truck.
Our Ford F-​350 is used to pull a 40′ fifth wheel trailer, and after a tow from Kissimmee to TItusville on a hot day, the truck appeared to be spitting a good deal of transmission fluid out. It was too late to bring it anywhere that night, so we parked it on the driveway with a pan underneath. The pan was relatively dry in the AM, & the transmission fluid dipstick indicated the transmission was still full of fluid. Not wanting to take any chances, we brought the truck to a local transmission shop in Titusville for inspection.
We were called & told that the transmission was either (1) leaking from the front seal of the transmission or (2) leaking from the front pump of the transmission. Simply to diagnose the problem, this local shop wanted to charge us $ 540 to pull the transmission out of the truck, which would then be applied to the $ 1,000 if the seal needed replacing or $ 1,200−1,500 if the front pump needed replacing.
We opted to take the truck elsewhere for a second opinion, and when we picked up the keys, we were warned that continuing to drive the truck with a leaking transmission could further damage the transmission making repair even more $$.
I called Russell at Ron Jon’s even though their shop is over 30 miles away in Orlando. Russell said that in all the years they have worked on diesel trucks, they have NEVER seen a front seal leak or a front pump leak. Hmmm He did say it «could» happen, but it would be VERY RARE.
We drove the truck to Orlando, and they spent THREE HOURS inspecting the truck, including putting dye in the transmission fluid, and guess what — the transmission is NOT EVEN LEAKING. John, Ron Jon’s owner, said it appeared that the Ford dealer we bought the truck from a few months ago overfilled the transmission fluid. When that happens, and the transmission gets hot, the transmission will «belch» out the extra transmission fluid. He is very confident this is what happened in our case after having towed the fifth wheel on a hot day.
Guess what else — after 3 hours of investigation, Ron Jon’s charged us — drum roll please — NOTHING… Not one red cent! They have earned a customer for life, and I would encourage anyone taking their vehicle to the local transmission shop in Titusville to get a second opinion before spending the $ 1,000+ is seems they tell all customers their repairs will cost (as I heard the people ahead of me being told when I picked up the keys).

After my mechanic moved I was looking for a mechanic and I don’t remember how I end up at Ron Jon’s.
They are very professional and honest, we’ve been taking our cars there for the past 2 years and I can’t say enough good things about their service and great prices!!!
The price they will give you when you drop your car is the same when you go pick it up. If there is any change, they will call you to request authorization etc.
