The Courtyard At Lake Lucerne

Our room was clean, the staff was very friendly, and the complimentary breakfast was a notch above your average hotel breakfast, but a notch below a bed & breakfast. Beautiful courtyard. The TV in my room was pretty dated, but that doesn’t really bother me, personally. Over all, I gotta say, a «very good» experience.

This hotel was very quaint and cute. Bright florida-​colored buildings with a great courtyard and big front porch to hang out at. The rooms were huge and came complete with their own kitchens. Also the free cocktail hour & breakfast was a plus! Overall a very pleasant and peaceful stay.

I love historic building especially if I get to spend the night inside. What a beautiful, hidden gem! The HUGE, spacious double rooms are so clean and comfy. I like the separate bar area with a sink, microwave, and refrigerator. The breakfast is a nice amenity too. Can’t wait to come back if I’m in the Orlando area!

This place is awesome! Really nice people and the breakfast is delicious. Also, seems like a great place to have a wedding. Now that my wife left me, I’ll get to have another wedding soon enough! AND I’M DOING IT HERE! 5 stars!

What a wonderful place to stay. The staff was friendly, the grounds were peaceful, and the food was great. Also, unlike small bed & breakfasts, you aren’t forced to interact with the other guests. You can if you want to, but you can keep to yourself just fine. I’ll happily stay there again next time I’m in Orlando.

I recently stayed here for a week as a central location while I was traveling around Florida. The staff was friendly and courteous, even gave me bottles of water on my way in. The breakfast was great: bagels, muffins, eggs, pancakes, etc, coffee, fresh OJ. The grounds themselves are really spectacular, the courtyard is exactly what you want in a bed and breakfast. The room had good wifi as well and was clean and the bed was comfortable. There is a lake right there and I ran around it in the mornings. it’s also right near downtown. Overall, I’d highly recommend it and plan to come back again. Thanks, Matt

I needed a place to rest my head for one night in Orlando and thought The Courtyard at Lake Lucerne could be a fun experience! I unknowingly parked in front of the Norment Parry Inn, as I didn’t quite realize there were four different houses that make up the complex. My room was booked in another building but the concierge saved me the trouble of bringing my bag across the way and gave me a room there instead.
Pros:
— Complimentary wifi
— Plenty of outlets around the room
— Wine happy hour
— Unique furnishings and style that make the stay fun and special
— Complimentary breakfast in a beautiful dining room with a wide array of hot and cold items. It takes place from 7 – 9 and I went around 8:15 and the main ham and chese strata was down to bare bones so maybe get there early?
— Very close to Downtown Orlando
— Free and accessible parking
— Affordable compared to other options in the area
Cons:
— No workout facility
— Couldn’t get the TV to function properly
— Everything from the bed to the shower was all kind of in the same room. I was by myself so this was ok but if you’re traveling with someone, just know there is very little privacy depending on which room you get.
— There were tiny little ants crawling around the sink. I would’ve asked to move if I were there for more than one night, but only saw them in that small area so decided to sleep through it.
— Only shampoo and no conditioner provided as part of complimentary toiletries.
Long story short, I’d definitely stay at The Courtyard At Lake Lucerne again for a quick trip through Orlando! I can also see why lots of weddings take place here, it’s so pretty and special for the area!

Beautiful courtyard and lovely balcony. We also liked the daily 6 – 7 pm happy hour. (They should add munchies, though.) However, they do not keep up the rooms at all. Rooms 202 and 204 were awfully moldy, to the point of causing respiratory problems. Also, the rooms were not cleaned during our stay; and the furniture was in disrepair. This b&b is lovely on the surface. The owners need to invest in its management, cleaning, and upkeep to warrant a repeat visit.

Beautiful venue. Very spacious for a medium sized group. House is lovely courtyard is a nice size and has enough room for smaller groups to break away for a more quite rest or conversation. Staff is very friendly and helpful as well.

Hello my name is Mandy. Me and my boyfriend are both college students we wanted to stay some where close to home but a small ride home we both live about 30 min away. So we originally booked the billard room that has its on private porch. The absolutely wonderful inn keeper upgrade us to the doctor Phillips room. I will say this we will be spending our next vacation here it was perfect and gorgeous. ITS WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!

A beautiful hotel located incredibly close to the coolest neighborhoods in Orlando. Despite being so close to all the action, it felt like we were in a hidden southern utopia. The staff was immediately accommodating and friendly, with great advice on local spots and nightlife. The rooms were very spacious and in tip-​top shape, and right next to a wonderful outdoor patio where you can watch the sunset while sipping on a complimentary cocktail (6−7p each day!) — Can’t recommend this spot enough!

Definitely VERY interesting place. It was quaint and clean and historic. We stayed 2 nights coming for a wedding at Dr Phillips house, so convenient that I highly recommend it if you attend an event here. The room was small but nice. My only big problem was that it was hot and we couldn’t regulate the thermostat. Also when they «cleaned» the room they didn’t really do anything but sort of pull the covers up, removed the trash, and replace 1 towel. I’m not picky but I expected that they would have taken back their glasses and carafe. They offer complimentary wine and allow you to take it to your room… I wouldn’t think you’d be expected to bring your glass back to the front office.
I also found it odd that we were told nothing when we checked in. With a B&B I would have thought more informative friendly social aspect vs a hotel. I thought that’s the beauty of a B&B right? I had to get my info about the place and the amenities on line and by reviews…
So I’ll be quick and run them down:
Complimentary wine anytime but certainly at check in. Ask for a carafe to take to your room red or white.
There is a happy hour from 6 – 7 where you can get more wine.
You can ask for ice at the office and you can ask for bottle water too.
Breakfast is in the green house and during the week is 7 – 9 and weekends 8 – 10. There was a hot item like strata and then fruits and pasties and breads and coffee and juice. It was all pretty good and theta a nice room for dining.
The main office also has a keurig and you can ask for k-​cups.
Each room had its own bathroom and our room had a sitting area/​windowed porch. Some rooms have claw foot tubs.

We decided to get married very late and were lucky that we chose the hottest month in Florida to get married because the Courtyard at Lake Lucerne had availability at short notice.
I came across The Courtyard by accident, which is funny, because I drive past it every day and never knew it was there. Not only is it conveniently located, a few blocks from downtown-​just south of the 408, but the ambiance speaks for itself. Some quotes from my guests during my wedding:
I feel like I’m not in Orlando, but in another city.
I feel like I’m in another time period.
Built in 1883, the IW Phillips House has the charm and character we were looking for in a venue. Luckily our wedding was small and we were able to accommodate our guests inside with approximately 70 guests without a problem.
Recognition goes out to Angie, the Event Manager, Rafael and Ron at the front desk, and everyone else who went out of their way to make this night special for my husband and I.
The staff accommodated us in every way possible and we couldn’t have asked for more from the venue.
Tips for outdoor wedding in Orlando, prepare for mosquitos, it’s florida. Have some fans going near the bar so your guests get relief, and you might want to have additional lighting from a third party since the center courtyard is a little dark.

This place was beautiful! We stayed in the wellborn. I could have moved in. There were two bedrooms. It was spacious with a small kitchen. More like an apartment than a hotel room. We walked around the property as soon as we got there examining all the buildings and gardens and statues. At the social hour we made some cocktails and looked through albums of weddings that had taken place there. The next morning, we had a wonderful homemade breakfast on real china and silverware. No powdered eggs here.
The location was so beautiful and convenient. We were directly downtown, 5 minutes away from trendy stuff, and 25 minutes from universal studios and international drive. We only stayed one night, but a family would be perfectly comfortable here for an extended vacation. Parking was convenient and close. I’ve stayed at so many hotels on a comedy tour this month and this is the only place that had extra towels and pillows in the closets! I would definitely stay here again.

It is 3:44 AM as I write this. I’m convinced the walls and floors are made of cardboard. What I can only imagine is one of the wedding after parties is happening above us. After a call to the front desk the music stopped, but the stomping and slamming doors have not. I am about to place another call.
So, if you want a quiet place to get some rest, look elsewhere. Don’t let my sacrifice be in vein.

4 stars description is «Yay! I’m a fan» and that is quite fitting for this review. Had I not been absolutely head over heals in love with my room, I would probably have to rate the place a little lower.
Full disclosure, I have only stayed here for 1 weekend (Friday and Saturday) and I have not been back as a customer, but I have been here on multiple occasions and thought a lot of about this place, so I have engaged in a detailed and particular analysis.
Now, I just stayed here for a wedding held on March 14, 2015, but I must take you way way back to 2012. I planned to get married to my fiancée on December 21, 2012 (yes, the day the Mayans said the world would end, or just when the calendar stopped, who knows, but just like the fact the world did not end, our wedding did not happen either, we are still engaged, we are just working on beating the record set by the movie… the 5 year engagement!). We picked the Courtyard at Lake Lucerne for our reception. We did get about ¾ of our deposit back after we called off the wedding, but we nevertheless imagined a wedding here and were impressed with what they had to offer right in downtown Orlando (if you can get over the freeway running through the front yard… which I was easily able to because of how much I loved my room and plus it is not even really visible from the 2 different areas you have to choose for weddings and receptions).
Now fast forward to 2014(ish) and my fiancée’s best friend is getting married and asks my fiancée to be the maid of honor at her wedding, and wedding and reception are to be held at the Courtyard at Lake Lucernce. There are 2 locations for the weddings and receptions, the big house or the Dr. Phillips House, and the little house, or the IW Phillips House. Both myself, my fiancée, her best friend and her best friends now husband all agree the IW Phillips little house is the best. The huge balcony that opens up to the courtyard is so nice. The bathroom is huge and has a bidet (and yes I tried flushing it after drinking a decent amount and I got sprayed in the face, it was pretty funny to everyone but me). I would suggest that others in the wedding party rent out all the rooms in the upstairs. If you want my advise, I would say have your wedding at the IW Phillips house.
The Dr. Phillips house is big, and that is where we stayed because it has the turret room. We stayed there and it was amazing. No bidet, but the bathroom was as good or better than bridal suite in the IW Phillips house. I cannot recall what the Dr. Phillips bridal suite looks like, but my room was so amazing that I kind of figure the turret room was supposed to be the bridal suite and we stole it from whatever group had the big house for their wedding.
The turret room is amazing and I do not believe I have ever been in a cooler hotel room in my whole life. It is one of two rooms on the 3^rd floor of the Dr. Phillips House. It was a bit awkward when I would walk down from my room because the other wedding going on was taking up most of the 2^nd floor. There is also a balcony across from the turret room with a spiral stair case to sneak out into the courtyard behind the big house.
Only a few issues that could have been better. First, there was that there was no fridge. There is in some of the other rooms, like the Welborn suites (almost like little apartments, we stayed in there on Friday night ant it was spacious and comfortable, but lacked the historic WOW that we got in the turret room). Also whoever used the room before us clogged the toilet and we had to immediately call maintenance when we checked into the room. It was not gross in the toilet, but we used it and then it would not flush. Maintenance could have been quicker, but it was not more than like 30 or 40 minutes and the issue was fixed. Finally, it seemed the Jacuzzi tub jets did not work. However, I generally advise not to use hotel Jacuzzi jets in the private tubs (it is okay if a big pool area) because after years working in the hotel industry, I have seen far too many horror stories were lots and lots of black crud comes out!!!
Service was very friendly to me, and helpful to the wedding from what I could tell. The wedding was truly beautiful. And most important (to me) is that I absolutely loved my room. The room 5 star, but really if you are not going to stay here in the wonderful historic rooms, as far as a wedding venue goes, I would have a hard time going above 3 stars (which is still A-​OK). So since I loved my room so much, and paid decent for it too, and average everything together, the Courtyard at Lake Lucerne gets a solid 4 star rating. I will definitely come back to stay in the turret room again, unfortunately I think we will be shifting our wedding plans to somewhere like New Orleans (once we beat the movie).

While located on beautiful grounds, and a beautiful wedding venue, this bed and breakfast lacks severely in customer service and pest control. Cockroaches. Huge cockroaches. After spending a small fortune to have your wedding at an award-​winning wedding venue, your guests can wake up to unwanted guests in their room, and then have the front desk offer no more resolution than to «make a note» on your receipt. I had my 2 month old baby staying with me and I cringe when I think of her sleeping in that pest ridden room. We asked for just 3 extra hours to check out, in order to get ready for a wedding on their property, and they wanted us to pay $ 70 to do so. I understand if you need the room vacated at check out, but either you need the room or you don’t. Charging me such exorbitant hourly rates to keep my room to prepare for an event at your venue is ridiculous.

First let me say, I own a major cleaning company, one that takes care of state and federal buildings so I know what real clean is. Kudos to the housekeeping staff here-​this place is real clean! Now this is an OLDE residence, so if you are looking for new and modern furnishings and style, this is not it-​but if you love the quaint antique and classic like I do-​you will love this place like I do.
We stayed in the Dr. Phillips bedroom-​the bed and bath is extremely large-​although no sofa, and it would benefit greatly having one-​there is certainly the room.
The location is just ok-​just outside main Orlando, and right next to a highway off ramp which can be a bit noisy, but wasn’t enough to really bother me, and I am a picky sleeper.
Room has a micro and fridge which is a must for a longer stay. shower is huge-​six people could fit in there!
Breakfast was a very good spread for just continental. Staff here is very pleasant and very non-​intrusive, which I actually love-​I don’t like to be bothered.
I will definitely stay here again, I love the charm and roominess of the place.

We stayed on NYE so we could be close to the Arena for a concert. This place was fantastic and believe me I’ve stayed in a lot of B&Bs.
Location — literally a 2 minutes walk from downtown and less than 10 minutes to church st and the arena –so geat for games or concerts.
Service– Fantastic! Very quick to reply to questions and we love that they take gift certificates from bed and
plus you are allowed to bring your small dog in certain rooms. friendly at checkin and out and the rooms were spotless.
Love that there are a few different buildings to choose from — the yellow room we stayed in was next door and it was so peacefull –especially the verandah and gardens.
I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

The Courtyard at Lake Lucerne is definitely not for everyone but it was to our liking.
I picked the Summer Special where they pick the room and got the Wellborn Suites. They were simple, older looking, and definitely not fancy. It looked like a one bedroom apartment and was very roomy and private but decorated with simple class. There is a whole complex of buildings though, and I’m sure the experiences are all very different depending on the building.
At any rate, we had access to the whole grounds, and they were lovely. I can see how weddings would take place there. The courtyard is filled with lovely lush landscape and fountains. The I.W. Phillips house housed the breakfast. It wasn’t fancy per se but it was adequate. I loved the antique feel of the house. There was lovely sitting outside so that you could enjoy the beautiful courtyard. Also, there was seating inside where lovely Gregorian chant played on the Sunday morning we were there.
The house is right off the toll road which was sad for the view of the picturesque lake from the houses. However, the neighborhood and the lake were just perfect for a walk. I loved walking amongst the old, grand houses in the morning after breakfast. It seemed a nice walk to downtown as well, although it was on the other side of a major road.
Lastly, I liked the gentleman manning the reception desk when we arrived. He had a retired manner reminiscent of taste and class and was pleasant.
