Ormond Beach is a wonderful little city that was the site of the first ‘timed’ automobile race in 1903. It has also been the chosen location for several vacation days spent by our family over the years. The rich built this city(I’m talking Rockefeller rich), and they have lots of reminders around town of their historic presence including the Rockefeller mansion known as The Casements. Our time spent here has been with my wife’s family either hanging out at watching the kids play @ Fortunato Park, Christmas festivals in Rockefeller Gardens, soaking in sun rays on the beach @ Tom Renick Park, eating giant pizzas from Lenny’s or attending Salty Church on Sunday morning. It doesn’t really feel like a vacation spot to us at all, because when we stay here it’s as if we live here. What I can tell you for sure after several visits is we have grown a fond affection for this little town. There are so many areas we have yet to explore and look forward to spending many more vacations here in the future. 2016⁄47

I have lived in Ormond for over half of my life. Having moved from Tampa after school this is the farthest north I have ever lived as a native Floridian. Ormond beach has changed from a very quiet town. Development is still controlled and we who live here are happy about that. It still feels like a retreat from Daytona beach when you come home. Walk the streets downtown and enjoy the first Friday events by the casements.
