Sorry Panera. The mixx is your classier, grown-up, polished version. I love the mixx for a quick salad! My favorite has to be the mini, with spinach, goat cheese, steak and dates, with a side of balsamic and olive oil. The interior is clean, polished, and modern, though the bathrooms are a bit questionable sometimes, I usually get everything to go though. Only downside, it is a bit expensive for what you get.

Do yourself a favor, order online WELL ahead of when you plan to pick it up, if it’s during the lunch rush. The portions are good, the food is fresh and the line moves fairly quickly, if you don’t order ahead.

FOODSAFETY /CLEANLINESS issues at this particular mixx location! Avoid! Overall this Mixx location has great food options, flavorable food, modest portion sizes, vegetarian options(rare in kc) great décor, and a convenient location… but on three different occasions now we’ve encountered dirty dirty dirty dirty plates, tables, glasses, and floors! We actually had to go through six plates to find two clean ones. I’m talking chunks of food left on the plates that were stacked up on the new service bar by the cashier. What was so shocking though about this particular visit, is when we politely mentioned a few things to the manager on duty he said«yeah we’re just too busy to get to all of that.» What restaurant /food service manager would ever say that??? If that’s what all the dishes floors and tables look like you can imagine what’s actually in your food. Gross! It’s really too bad because you can tell the concept is brilliant but the execution is very poor, especially as it relates to food safety and overall cleanliness. 6÷14÷16UPDATE: This location was recently inspected by the Health Department, which found 16 different violations, 4 of which were deemed«CRITICAL» in nature. You can read more online as they are all publicly available. Hopefully the management will take these food safety issues seriously, as we love the concept of this restaurant, just not the management/local operations.

I used to go here all the time as it has decent vegetarian options. But lately it has gotten too bad to come back. The tables are almost always dirty, I’ve found hair in my food, some of the staff is very friendly but some are out right rude and the lines can get ridiculous. This place is full of rude Johnson county moms who jump in front of you in line and don’t know the words excuse me exist. The part that bugs me the most is probably that the when I last came here my small sandwich was 12 dollars. That’s just ridiculous for a sandwich with a piece of tofu, hummus and lettuce. Unless you’re fine with all of this, spend your money elsewhere

The process of ordering food is so remarkably confusing and bad(depending on what you order /how much you order) that it overshadowed any commentary I would otherwise make on the food. In my entire life I have never witnessed such a terrible system. My family and I spent our entire lunch talking about how bad the system was. Absolutely no interest in going back. There are way too many other food options in the are. Such a shame. Why they wouldn’t fix this? I have no idea.

Great place to get unique and fresh food. I wish the restaurant was laid out better to accommodate some of the lunch rush, but it’s always worth the hassle-chicken Santa Fe salad is my go to

I love the concept of The Mixx and how you can make your own salad with any ingredients you desire. The menu has so many options it’s overwhelming! but I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered here. The food seems to be fresh and there is so much more to order than just salad if you are not a salad fan. I recommend getting the mac & cheese(it’s the best I’ve ever had) and any of the sandwiches. I usually make my own sandwich and pick the ingredients. I love the juice bar too! sadly, the juice bar is only available at this specific location and not any of the other restaurants. I would recommend getting the tropical paradise smoothie! although the mix is pretty great, there are a few things that could improve. the silverware does not appear to be very clean considering I picked up a fork and it still had food on it. the seating is not extremely comfortable either with the chairs being made out of cheap, hard plastic. also it was kind of weird that there was music playing from Disney & Nickelodeon tv shows from like 2006 lol! however, the food is so great at the mix that the positives outweigh the negatives. I would definitely return to the mix and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a great salad or in that case, great food in general!

okay I get that people want to be healthy. And for the most part the selections here are good yet strangely limited… the ordering process is well… quite a process. In fact the dining experience and meal itself take a back seat to The Process! I want to eat this type of food and really want to like the Mixx, I’ve eaten at both locations, but the experience ends up feeling akin to checking into the hospital or buying a car… people are stalled and standing confused, unable to grasp the learning curve and deal with«The Process». Ordering is a challenge and it is easy to feel cursed by options and watching patrons determine which lane to be in rather than embrace the content. I will keep trying for now but the irritation of my dining experience feeling like the checkout at a big box chain is a heavy load. oh, BTW the food is fresh.

I love the variety of fresh ingredients that are offered here. It is always packed during the weekday afternoons but the guys on the salad line are super efficient. It’s been said here but it’s worth repeating: The ordering process is very awkward and confusing. There is a lot of pressure to hurry up and order and the multiple lines are crazy. They might benefit from hiring servers for their dine in customers. My biggest complaint is that I’ve had 2 too many visits where I got home and found that the protein that I ordered and paid for was not in the box. Same for my side order of dressing. I think that the staff feels as rushed as we do with ordering so I don’t blame them. I’ve encountered the owner at both locations and she seems very unpleasant, not friendly at all. If she’s not a people person, she should just hang out in a back office. Maybe she was stressed. Idk.

It, s not clean restaurant. I found hair in my salad, and the fork was dirty too. There was lipstick on the fork. I will not back to this restaurant.

Food is good! Ordering can be tricky. We stopped in her for dinner on a Saturday. We had been warned the ordering system may be confusing. It actually wasn’t confusing, it just forces you to make a decision a little sooner. Juices and sandwiches are ordered in one area and salads in another. I got a rocket salad plus salmon — it was delicious, I ate the whole thing. The half portion was reasonable. My husband got a steak salad — which he said is his new favorite salad in the world! My kiddos got a order of butter noodles, they looked good, I didn’t try them. And the other one got a banana, peanut butter and honey sandwich –yum! The prices are on the high side but they have a lot of fresh ingredients, that costs more. We would definitely go back if we lived in KC!

We chose The Mixx because of the healthy options we saw on their website, and I am so glad we did! The choices seemed endless. We made our selections, and our salads were HUGE and absolutely delicious. The Gorgonzola dressing was the best I have ever had. We were very pleased and will return here next year, for sure!

The word that comes to mind to describe this place is FRESH! The environment looks fresh, smelled fresh, and the food tasted fresh. We hesitated eating here for quite awhile as the venue has been a revolving door for restaurants over the past several years, but have heard good things about it so we had to try it and were glad we did! When you walk in there’s a nice open area with comfy chair groupings to meet someone for a coffee, etc or wait for take out. The only oddity is there is there are three different counters to wait in line to place an order… one for sandwiches, another for salads/soups, and another for drinks and to pay. When we arrived it was early for lunch and not too busy yet so we learned quickly, and hubs went to the sandwich counter while I went to the salad counter. Hubs ordered the Classic Blue sandwich which was grilled steak on a baguette with the trimmings and he chose the pasta salad as his side. He thought it was excellent and said he would order it again. After a lot of thought(there are several salads and many sounded good) I went with the Rocket salad with chicken. Based on previous reviews I ordered the whole salad rather than half, but should have gone with half as it was BIG and I took half to go. I also requested half the dressing be tossed in and the other half on the side based on previous reviews, but found it was too dry and added some back to it. This salad was delicious! It was unique with arugula, red cabbage, roasted corn, avocado, dates, goat cheese and several other items complementing the overall flavor. The only disappointment was the ‘jalapeño cornbread croutons’ noted on the ingredients tasted like regular croutons. Maybe they added the wrong croutons? But it was still an excellent salad. The champagne honey vignette was light and delicious. Staff was busy throughout taking orders, delivering food and clearing/cleaning tables in a well-run restaurant from our perspective. It was an excellent experience and we’ll be back soon!

The Palermo Insalata is to die for. Place is really cool, contemporary concept. Besides the Palermo, everything on the menu is just sub par and honestly options aren’t as healthy as they want to make it seem.

The mixx is the perfect place for a healthy salad with oomph and substance. There’s a huge selection of salad combinations. My favorites have been The Rocket, Thai salmon, and forks and knives. The amount of dressing may be slightly excessive, so make sure you tell them to go light on the dressing if that’s not your thing! The steak and salmon were cooked perfectly — still juicy, very tender. Casual ambience, but can get busy around lunch time so plan your time accordingly! Surprisingly around dinner time, it was rather quiet.

I’ve heard good things about this place for awhile now so I finally tried it today. $ 10+ for a salad should lead you to believe it’s going to be a decent meal. Take a look at my picture. I couldn’t believe the tiny box he handed me. Take a look at the second picture, 20% of the tiny box was the to-go dressing! What a pathetic joke. Lastly, I want to thank them for leaving out the chicken I ordered, awesome discovery when I got home. With so many options in the area, I for one don’t get this place.

I LOVE the Mixx, but this one is still having some growing pains. As others have said, the ordering system is pretty dumb. They have three separate areas for three separate types of food orders. It really doesn’t make sense and many people were confused. They also had one staff person who spent most of their time trying to explain to customers where to order. It was kind of a mess. I hope they address this issue ASAP. The food also took forever to come out… much longer than at the midtown location. We got a fresh pressed juice which was very expensive and took more than 10 minutes to get. Granted it was busy and there was a back up, but still that seemed a bit excessive. Other than these issues, I’m so thrilled to have a southern KC location. Their food is always good and fresh. The atmosphere is chic and clean. A great place for lunch once they iron out the kinks.

First time visiting The Mixx today. My coworker suggested it for lunch. We arrived around 11:30 to beat the lunch crowd. I’m glad we did! It was really busy around the lunch hour and seating was very limited. The flow of traffic for ordering food is a little tricky. If you want to build a salad, there’s a separate station to place your order. The line was extremely long around 12. If you want a sandwich or something of that nature, you order right when you first walk in. It can be confusing but, someone greeted us at the door when we arrived and explained all of that. I tried the Casablanca Pita with a half Greek Salad. It was pretty good. However, I really wish they had their nutritional info posted somewhere for people like me who track calories in Fitness Pal. Anyways, everyone in my group ordered a sandwich of some sorts so, our orders were brought to our table. The food came out pretty quick and the cashier, runners and busy boy were all friendly and accommodating.

I tried many times to be a fan of the downtown location, but I was not a fan of the layout, the cluster of ordering and the overcrowded seating. This location corrects the improper flow and allows for space between tables. More importantly, you don’t have to work your way through crowds to refill your drink or find a seat. What I really love is the covered patio seating, which feels tucked away and tranquil. Another new feature at this location is the pressed juice bar which I tried on my second visit. Along with a menu of combinations, you can choose all your ingredients yourself, just like the salads. There are also some health counter snacks like almond butter balls. For my first visit I ordered the ½ sandwich and salad. The garden salad was perfect and the champagne dressing was REALLY good. I had a turkey wrap as mice ½ sandwich. I like options, so I guess this is why their menu appeals to me. I also like that they have a few different flavors of tea, which I like to mix… see what I did there? If there is anything I could change, it might be to streamline the ordering process. Maybe a way to fill out your own order, turn it in and have a runner bring it to your table or call your number? First timers will do a full freak out in the lunch line and cause some major clogs.

LOVE everything about this place. This location is beautiful. Very design focused and I love that the waiting area is like a nice hotel lounge. You never see that in a fast casual restaurant. The bright colors, baskets of fruit/vegetables, and flowers in the location make very nice touches. The juice counter is a great addition which makes them pretty unique. Adds the café feel to the restaurant. As far as the food, whats not to love? Fresh and healthy food is always a good thing. The juices are delicious. For my main meal, I ordered the Cobb Wrap and Sweet Potato Fries. It was beyond delicious. I would HIGHLY recommend this place.
