We absolutely love this place! Consistently delicious food. The chili rellano burrito, and al pastor — YUM! Quesadillas are awesome. The people that work there are really nice. I feel bad that they have to deal with some of the reviewers on here. :) It’s not fine dining, people!

Good value for a quick lunch. No frills, walk up, order, pay and get your food. The burritos are large and very good. Come with tortilla chips. CASHONLY!

Decent Mexican food. Nothing special or remarkable other than its at the beach. The best thing on the menu is the chile relleno burrito. The small window where you order can be confusing and ive had my order messed up on a few different occasions.

I’m an organic farmer, so believe me when I tell you… I get a big appetite after digging’ some weeds and chasing around varmints all day. We’re talkin’ I could eat a horse. Lucky for me, Pepe’s tacos is a hop, skip and a jump away from me. We’re talking’ two shakes of a lamb’s tail. So I get some fish tacos and chomp those cookies down, boy howdy am I feeling’ straight n’ ready to plant some tomaters. Love, peace, and chicken grease — Holla at your boy Ricky B, the food hammie

Stick with the carne asada. Been eating it for years and it’s delicious. Decided to venture off and try the al pastor. I’d give the al pastor a SOLID5 if I was expecting the mediocre sloppy joes recipe from my local elementary school.

This is authentic mexican food. I had al pastor burrito and it was delicious. Also the chips and green salsa are amazing. Very affordable! Remember cash only! I will definitely go back again!

The best Chile relleno burrito! For us timid types ask for mild… no beans and easy rice. It’s oh so good! But don’t be tempted by getting the pico, it’s definitely laced with jalopenos. My hubby’s a fan of the fish tacos. Street tacos are also a fave especially if low on $ Affordable and right by the beach. This place is crowded in summer months so be aware. It’s a walk up window with benches for seating. Recently upgraded with a couple of umbrellas. Parking in front and a small lot on the side. Can’t miss if in the Silver Strand area!

Horrible horrible experience after being a lifetime local customer! Waited 40 minutes for a few burritos, one taco and a simple quesadilla! Quesadilla arrived soaking in Greece, soggy and disgusting. Burritos were cold cold cold! One burrito was missing the rice, cheese wasn’t even melted. Not to mention they popped our food in the microwave! One taco had raw meat in it and looked like a mess. After discovering this I went to the male employee there, and I was nice about it until he was rude to me claiming that no one else complained. I told him I wanted a refund. He smacked the window open and snatched the food Then said I’m not giving you refund for the other food! We will never eat here again. I’ll also be sure to tell our friends how horrid it was! This place use to be a gem. Now it’s a dump.

This place has been a staple of our community for a very long time. Unfortunately, after ownership and staff changes in the recent past, the quality and quantity have suffered to the point where all of the locals that I live near, and have talked to, have stopped eating there. It’s a very sad situation here at the strand. We lost our Pepe’s. Anyone that ever made the stop when visiting our area will be sorely disappointed on their return. There is hope that management will reevaluate their business plan, however until word gets around in a positive way about our once favorite little place, I don’t see a prosperous future. From a gold mine, to a failure.

Bummer deal! This used to be the place on strand to get yummy Mexican food. No longer the case… portions are small, quality has decreased substantially and customer service is a big zero! My last and final order was by phone, the girl was not friendly but said it would be ready in 15 minutes. So I went to pick up my single burrito after 15 minutes. The order hadn’t even been started, she took someone else’s order after me their food was ready before mine. I asked for one extra salsa which is small to begin with and they wanted to charge me $.50!!! Done, finished and never going back ever.

My wife and I always look for the colorful hole-in-the-wall eateries when we’re on the road and Pepe’s did not disappoint! I say if you want to know how good a place is… order the beef tacos, so I did. Two tasty soft tacos with rice and beans arrived quickly for my evaluation… and they were good! Oh yes, my wife’s large chile rellano burrito was outrageous too. Support the small guy!

Nothing has changed. Except the Prices(went up), portions(went down), and the quality(down). Guess the original owners knew what they were doing when they sold out. Seems like the new owners spent all their money on paint rather than quality ingredients(how else can you mess up a burrito with 4 – 6 items inside?). Too bad. I used to recommend this place to my friends. Since I like my friends, and want to keep them, I’ll NEVER recommend this place again, nor patronize them anymore. Even my 9 year old niece can make a better quesadilla(She actually cooks it long enough to melt the cheese!).

I had to give one star to write this review. …on that note. this place sucks. Almost $ 20 for two burritos. Everytime I ask them to make a bacon and egg burrito the the girl looks to her coworkers then says they can’t. They are two lazy to cook an egg. I live a street over and will not give these people my money ever again. Not to mention the girl working feels the need to call me babygirl. Make me the burrito I ask for and maybe I’ll let you call me that. The previous owners were great and the food used to be great as well. Not anymore. I will drive up the street to Burrito De Mexico where they make what I like at cheaper prices and the burritos are huge.

I had a carnitas burrito it was horrible. It had no flavor at all. It was full of filler and not much meat. No spice to it at all. It wasn’t cheap either. I use to love going here when I was a kid. It was a treat. I did not like the persons attitude who served me either. Granted I did mention I missed the old owners. Don’t go here. They use to be good but no longer.

A guy on the beach recommended this little Mexican food shack for great tacos. When we got there a live band was serving up some mello blues on that Saturday afternoon, atmosphere couldn’t have been better. Had the fish tacos, they were great. Only issue with the place is the ordering process is kind of strange. You order through a screen window to someone in the kitchen, kinda feels like a confessional at church… Oh, and it’s cash only, FYI… Good place though, I’ll be back

Best fish tacos ever, hands down. Having lived in Oxnard before there are certain places that just require going back to, and Pepe’s is one of them. Their fried fish is better than Andrea’s in my opinion, and that’s really saying something. The bean, rice and cheese burritos are also quite special, needless to say delicious. Can’t leave without getting one alongside two fish tacos :) This place is the real deal. Don’t know who thought orange was a good idea to paint the place but hey– it is one of a kind ;) !

This is the joint! THIS is where you are going for lunch today. Work in Camarillo? DOESN’T matter. go. The best part about Pepe’s is that you can order some fish tacos, chips, fresh salsa, and some carne asada burritos and spend the day at Silverstrand. Done. My only complaint is that there are days where the food is not as good as other days. It has a lot to do with the lunch rush and I think something has changed recently, but it is not disappointing by any means. Beats going the fast food route, or getting food THEN driving to the beach. Great location.

A change of ownership is the reason for this updated review. First they painted the outside a garish orange. Second the prices went way up. And last but not least, the food sucked. Carnitas taco was flavorless and chewy. The bean and cheese burrito was dry and lacking in cheese. It was shaped different too. Anyway this is traumatic for me as I’ve been going to Pepe’s since the 70’s. Hope they turn it around.

The place doesn’t look Inviting or a good place to eat, but you can always sit by the beach & enjoy the good food. They have the Best shrimp burrito I have ever tasted!!! Bomb juicy tacos and I also like the nacho chips.
