The Painted Cabernet

Everyone should do this at least once! Great idea for a date night or a girl’s night out.
Pros– they provide all the supplies & 1 free glass of wine. Instructor breaks down the whole process step by step. They have a frequent visitor card: 1 free paint night after 5 visits.
Cons– $ 40 seems a little pricey, wish they had more coupon options or discounts. It can get a little crowded, seats are too close together without much elbow room.

We had a blast! My friend was visiting for the weekend so I signed us up for the Anacapa Island night. It was intimidating at first but the instructor made it fun! Having a glass of wine (or three) helped too!
I’d love to come back again! The Painted Cabernet is the perfect girls night out!

This class was in a very pleasant atmosphere. The paid painters were extremely nice. The staff was also very nice and pleasant. The problems for me were that the class was crowded, the tables were so crowded that there wasn’t enough room to manage your paint etc. It was very hard to get paint. We all got a free drink, the rest was purchased. The drinks weren’t horribly expensive and were nice. With as many students as there were it was impossible to get any real help as there was only one teacher. Saying that it was easy and people with no talent could do it were not exactly accurate. The price was $ 40. I expected to get something that at least presentable to take home. Without any experience in painting my results were not only disappointing but embarrassing. There were way more bad results than good as I looked around. They sell the paintings that looked really nice painted by someone else. I’m just going to buy the ones I like and not try to do it again. I think that if your painting turned out with bad results there should be some time or help to get it resolved. I haven’t really talked to them about it yet. The class is only 2 hours long. There’s also a problem of having to paint a whole painting without getting much chance for the painting to dry. Just not enough time. These were my problems. Most people seemed to have a good time and it really was. I just didn’t enjoy the actual painting experience.

Instructors and bartenders are great! Very warm and inviting. The instructor goes at the pace of the class and can slow down/​speed up as needed. They now have Stella on tap!

Had a great time last night for my company Christmas party. Never thought I would find my self in a place like this but 5 thumbs up for my work for thinking outside the box, if was soooo fun. First we I’ve never painted before and my painting came out great, wine and beer also, yes please! Great location great paint instructors good wine and great pieces. There open for events all the time and also closed for private events like this, just check the website and see what there painting on a monthly calendar.

Awful, terrible. Had a miserable time. Artist wasn’t helpful, didn’t help painters! Left my ‘painting’ there.
When I wrote to the owner. To explain my concerns, I was blown off and I was told that it was where I was sitting that prevented the artist from getting to me… I was sitting at the end of a table. I didn’t pick my spot! If the artist can’t get to where paying customers are sitting, maybe paying customers shouldn’t be seated in that place!!! How does the customer get penalized for the location picked by the establishment!!!
I am very disappointed that I spent money here and I will not be back.
They don’t care about their customers!!!

you have to try this place. it was so much fun. at first I was a nervous wreck because I don’t know how to paint but then after a beer or glass of wine and listening to music I called down. the atmosphere is so relaxing. great teacher easy instructions to follow how to paint. this was so much fun hanging out with friends.

I was taken here for my birthday tonight as a surprise and I loved it. The girls were nice and helpful. The wine was chilled perfectly and nobody was in a rush to have you finish. After you are done the girls clean up everything for you and are there to photograph you with your party and works of art. There is a raffle and a member punch card. I honestly was so pleased with my art work. The girl went step by step and made it so fun and easy everyone’s painting came out lovely. I can’t wait to go back my sister and I already picked out the painting we want to try out. I would recommend this to anyone young or old. Sitting next to me was a guy celebrating his 21^st bday with his older sister and they had a blast. Everyone should try this at least once.

The Painted Cabernet was really an amazing experience. It was my second time there and both times were so much fun! We went for a birthday and the crew waited to start until the birthday boy got there because he was running a few minutes late. I believe Jen, was the painting guide, and she was awesome and explaining each step and making sure everyone had a blast! You get one free drink when you go and are able to buy more during the class. They have great service. I highly recommend The Painted Cabernet for anyone looking for a different and creative fun night out!

Painted Cabernet is definitely a fun place to go to. I first came here on a friend’s birthday and the painting for that class was the Eiffel Tower. When I was first asked to come, I was thinking in my head «Painting and wine… why not… I can get my inner arteesst on. Heck ya.» Haha.
That being said and with no real affinity for painting, I was able to paint some pretty decent looking paintings. The only experience I had going into this class was the random art classes I took in high school and some some self taught drawing skills. The teachers do a good job at keeping the class very stress free. They give clear instructions on how to mix the different paints in order to get the colors needed for the painting.
Of course, if you get that sudden artistic spark, they wont stop you from exploring your own color palette. So feel free and go try whatever you want and truly make the painting your own.
My first was class was so enjoyable I ended up coming back another 4 times. I took my last class in the Santa Barbara location. But seriously, when you mix wine and painting together, you inner creativeness comes out. Although in my case, for one of my paintings I ended up drinking too much, so when I started adding birds to my sail boat painting… I drew them UPSIDE DOWN… haha. It was as if the birds were as tipsy as I was.
The classes are usually $ 40 dollars. One tip I can give you guys is that the Starry Night class fills up extremely fast so try to register as early as you can. Also, don’t forget to take some friends. The classes are always more fun with friends.

I loved this place. I took a friend of mine for her birthday and we had a great time. We got there early luckily so we got to choose seats at the front of the class. The class was packed and it was hard to have any arm space, but overall it was ok. It seems very well organized and the instructor was very nice. Since the classes are so large, there’s not any one-​on-​one instruction, like you can get at other places.
Also, I had to change my event time and they easily moved my reservation to another class.

I’ve been going to The Painted Cabernet for 3+ years now. In SB and Oxnard. It’s a great way to relax and spend time with friends.

What a fun place!
I came here for my best friends b-​day and we had a blast! While we aren’t very creative and were a little nervous about how our painting would turn out, we ended up being extremely pleased with ourselves when we were finished.
To start, they ask that you arrive early so you can check in, get your paint and find where you are sitting. It also gives you time to order a drink and check out the cute merchandise they offer. Once everyone got situated the instructor gave us a play by play on how the night would go. She encouraged us to have fun, be creative and keep drinking! hahahaha
The bartender was on point with the drinks they offered. It was nice that they also offered beer, mimosas and a few mixed drinks. For my preggo bestie she was able to order a virgin strawberry bellini that made her night!
All in all, I can’t wait to go back again!

Wine, painting and a damn good playlist of music! This place was SO MUCH FUN. Whether this is your first time at painting or your 100^th, you can pick what painting you want to create by checking their calendar and scheduling online. They pick your seats for you (with the group you booked with). There’s a complimentary glass of wine when you come in and you can pay extra if you want a different or more. There is also beer I believe. The picture you are painting they place all around the room for you to reference. The teacher will explain how to do a step, turn on a song and when the song is over you watch and learn the next step, kind of like musical chairs. Its fun to glance at your neighbors progress and steal their techniques :) Will definitely be back the next time I’m in town!

We had a family night out and had a blast. Great music, great wine and our teacher was so helpful. We left and wanted to become painters lol!

Its my best friends birthday and I wanted to do something special, new and exciting! Bought tickets on line. Quick and easy. Arrived and had a blast!
We all enjoyed the instructor who made it so easy. She let us get creative!
And we got to take something special home. An original piece of art!
Drinks were nice. Reasonably priced wine. Bar tender, staff and instructor we all very friendly.

Painted Cabernet is a great idea — good to do with friends or a date night. I love the concept. However, it is expensive for what you get and if you’re really a wino, the wine list isn’t impressive. The glasses of wine tend to be overpriced for what you get. If they improved the offerings for wine, I’d be all in but the selection isn’t that impressive when 50% of their concept is the wine.
Also, you need to keep track of your frequent visitor card yourself. In this day & age they lack an electronic system so if your card gets lost you are S.O.L. :(I find this to not be very customer friendly.

Love this place. A great time and you get to take home some pretty awesome artwork. Every time I come I see three more classes I want to attend! So glad they put this in Ventura county.
I definitely recommend coming here with friends or even on a date night. With the class comes a free drink card as well and if you have a partner you can combine your two cards and that goes towards the purchase of a bottle of your choice.
The only thing I can think of to ask is that the instructor give a few extra minutes for each step. Last time I went it seemed very fast. Maybe it was because it was a Tuesday night? Other than that, so much fun!

So much fun! I was hesitant because I have NO painting experience. I can’t even draw. But I came to celebrate my nieces birthday. We all had a great time. I was amazed at how much I enjoyed my time here The entire set up is run well.
Upon arrival you check in and They hand you an apron and your drink ticket. You get the colors you will need for the painting of the night (preselected) and then go to the bar for your drink. The drink is included In the price. Painting instruction is given by an instructor at the front of the room (visual and verbal). Follow along and have fun and feel free to put your own twist on the painting. I enjoyed observing others being creative with their painting. I sat next to an employee who is a painter and I learned so much from her. The painting is yours to keep.
