H&R Block

Unprofessional business. I have an appointment which was confirmed for March 1^st at 8:00 AM. It’s been ten minutes no has showed up and it turns out they don’t open till 9 AM. Why give someone at appointment when you’re not going to be open. No one answers the phone either. Fuck this place.

Angela and the receptionist were very helpful and genuine. Good people trying to get the most money back for you.

For the last 8 years I have been getting my taxes prepared by h&r block. Anyone who goes there pays a premium to have the piece of mind knowing that a tax professional is taking care of them. I came to this branch specifically to have my taxes prepared by Jose Huezo. He got them done last year at a different h&r block location and I followed him to this branch this year. I wasn’t surprised to hear that he was the branch manager, the guy is an absolute professional and he educated me on a lot of things last year in terms of taxes and different health insurance options. Unfortunately, on this particular day he was not in the office and being that I already drove out of my way to come to this branch, I decided to just get my taxes prepared by anyone that was available at the moment, what a HUGE mistake that was. I sat with Koy Beckle. He goes on, plugs in all the the numbers and gives me the figure of my return, and I tell him to go back and check it again because it is 3k less than what I was expecting. Mind you I came in knowing what I was getting in return because I went on FreeTaxUSA and got a self prepared copy of my 1040 on my phone. Koy goes through it again and realizes that none of my dependents were claimed, he fixes it and finally gets the same figure on my self prepared form. That alone should have been a red flag, claiming dependents is the most basic thing a preparer should be able to do, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and went on with the process. I have my return e-​filed like I do every year and have never waited more than ten days for funds to get direct deposited into my account. Three days after my initial visit on February 6 I get a call from Koy saying that my e-​file has been rejected by the IRS stating that «there might be something wrong with one of my dependents social security numbers» and that I would have to come in a second time to pick up a paper copy and go the traditional «paper» way of filing my return. I understand that these things happen and realize it will take some time to receive my refund. I had been tracking my refund via the «Where’smyrefund» app that the IRS provides. On March 18 funds were deposited to H&R Block and I expected to have my refund at any moment. March 20 I get another call from Koy this time saying «we have your refund but you need to come in and pay for the tax preparation in order for you to receive it since it was paper filed». I agreed and showed up for a THIRD time to pay and after I paid he tells me that I should «wait another week» and that if I don’t have the funds direct deposited then to call him on March 27. That afternoon I check the Where’smyrefund app again and it stated that my refund was rejected by the H&R block bank and returned to the IRS and for me to expect my refund check by mail by April 24.
Here’s what went wrong with this whole process:
1)When I came in the SECOND time Koy Beckle should have mentioned that I had to pay up front for the services.
2)He did not fix my 1040 direct deposit information which sent my funds to H&R block when he knowingly could have it sent straight to my account.
3) He waited too long to tell me I had to pay for services (from February 9 — March 18) when H&R block held my return which is the real reason it was returned back to the IRS.
4) He lied about me receiving my refund on a certain date when he already knew my refund was returned to the IRS.
The worst part about this whole ordeal is knowing that you’ve paid $ 258.00 for a manger to tell you that their employee is poorly trained. The service I received was so poor that I felt the need to open a Unilocal account just to vent because according to H&R block the problem is out of their hands and only had apologies to offer from a manager. I have still not received an apology from Koy Beckle, it’s the least anyone would expect from a professional service provider. Needless to say I won’t be returning to H&R block and if you do so feel inclined to go to H&R block and this particular branch, do yourself a favor and avoid this guy like the plague.

I made an appt to return to H&R Block and was helped by Jose Huezo Office Manager. He first did my daughters and everything went very well, her return was placed on a Visa Debit card that she knew would be good for her. Then it was my turn with my wife. Let me tell you Jose is a master at his craft, he explained everything step by step and even educated us on the insurance penalties that occur if one does not have insurance. In the end he gave us a coupon that took off $ 75 from our service fee NICE! And my daughter received $ 25 off… I forgot how good it feels to be with an agent one on one… I will never leave H&R Block again!!!
