Arrow Masonry and Exteriors Inc

My condo building commissioned Arrow for contract work on our exterior & decking to stop leaks coming from a few areas.
My issue with Arrow lies with their owner Mark Zielinski.
It started immediately after the work was performed. My car coincidentally sits directly below the deck which was being worked on and within hours of the work being performed, white paint began dripping from my the site, onto my car. Within days, I emailed photos & video of the dripping (which he was paid to fix) and the new issue that my car was covered with paint droplets (which did not come out with water or washer fluid).
I had emailed Mark in September (again with photos) and the facts:
1. this began immediately after the team finished work
2. my car sits directly below the work area
3. white/​tan paint was used in his job and white paint now sat on my car.
Apparently this wasn’t convincing enough for Mark as after 2 MONTHS OF EMAILS, photo proof and on-​site visits, the refused to admit responsibility for the paint spillage.
First Mark replies «the work was completed as commissioned». When I asked if they used paint in their job, it took 1 week for him to tell me: Yes. Next, I asked if he thought it was too coincidental given all the above factors, and he replied «My assistant has informed me she will have to file a lien if payment is not received by the end of the week.» Seriously, WTF???
I rarely come across a vendor & owner with this lack of ownership & accountability. My bill to remove the paint from the body shop was $ 209 — as you guessed, they refused to pay so here I am Unilocalers, telling my story.

I recommend to stay away from Arrow ALL COSTS.

Horrible and arrogant attitude! My bf’s condo association has done a lot of business with Arrow, so he referred me. However, it took months to get this guy to call me back. Once he did, he actually complained about my calling before…6 months before… to which he never called back. He then was very condescending and started to complain about needing to drive out of his way to provide the quote (I live in Lincoln Park). When I asked if he knew of anyone closer to the city, he scoffed that «he was the best» and went off about how valuable his time was. Well, my time is too, and I’m not the one getting paid. I’ve literally never heard someone in a service industry say such absurd things. I politely explained how he didn’t need to do it if the job were too far away, but wanted to know if there was anyone else he could refer me to. He then literally hung up on me! They clearly need to update their service area or get less lazy employees.

We hired Arrow Masonary to do some work on a new home we bought. They gave us a fair quote, stuck to the price, did a clean and tidy job, and completed the work within the exact time frame. I would certainly use them again, and highly recommend them.

Our condo association has used them for many small masonry projects on our building. I personally used them to repair window flashings and they did very high quality work, were speedy and affordable. I strongly recommend Arrow.

Mike came out, very nice, knowledgable, received a quote, emailed both
him and ann back several times. No response. Just called Mike on his cell phone,
claiming neither he nor Ann received the emails. No matter, I wanted to let him know
to go ahead. He was not mean but just exasperated telling me he had been up
since 330AM and still not home (It’s 405PM here in Chicago).
AND, he is NOW extremely busy and wouldn’t be able to get to our job until
next year? when he was here, for the quote a few days, ago, I explained the
urgency of the work (within a few weeks) and now???
Very Very Strange. The reason why I called them in the first place is back
in 2000, the redid the full façade of our graystone for 40,000!
Just very disappointed and unprofessional.

After browsing on Unilocal,I called a few companies for an estimate on repairing my stoop and chimney. First, along the vein of «half of life is just showing up» — very few companies showed up to give me an estimate or called me back! Then, one company told me that I really needed a whole new stoop built, because the repairs would only last 5 or so years. However, since a rebuild was 5x as expensive as a repair, I figured I would just repair 5 times and hope to sell the house in 25 years before the 6^th repair was needed.
Anyway, Arrow’s work was great. They showed up with a crew on time and got to work right away. They worked quickly and it looks beautiful. They didn’t try to up-​sell me, and they didn’t do the «oh, this is much worse than we thought in the estimate bit.» What I paid is what they quoted, and was in line with what seemed the market price. Best of all, they were done a little ahead of schedule and did a very good job of cleaning up after themselves. I will update this review if, after the winter, all the mortar and concrete washes away or looks like hell.
I’m holding back 1 star for the following reasons: (1) when I called for an estimate, they never called back — someone just showed up unscheduled, took pictures, and then they mailed it all to me. I didn’t even know they’d come, and this seemed a little weird. (2) in their contract package, they included a certificate from some bogus website claiming recognition of some kind. Both of these things made me worry that I was dealing with a shady company. This turned out not to be true, but it wasn’t reassuring.
Everyone I talked to in the office and on site was very nice, and I would definitely recommend them.

Had a guy (Mike I think) out to look at our small front porch because there’s been some leaking in the unit below ours.
He claimed it was an issue with the door and that the maker of the door should fix it.
When I had the audacity to question his diagnosis, he got all huffy about how I was wasting his time and went on and on about his credentials — which still doesn’t prove to me how you know this is the issue. Then he went off on how we’d (someone in our condo building, I assume, not us personally because I’d remember this jerk!) had him out to look at another issue and had gone with another company — so not my problem!
But since he made it sound like the door manufacturer would repair the door, we still wouldn’t be hiring him… WTH? Stay away!!!

We had Arrow do some work on our 100+ year old brick condo building. Mike was amazing and the work looks great. I was amazed at how fast they worked and how clean and professional the final product looks. This company is the one you want working on your home.

Kathy was extremely knowledgable and professional. She came out quickly to give an estimate and was very transparent about pricing, products, and timelines. So far, this company sets a high standard for customer service.

Arrow was recommended to me and my condo association from my real estate attorney who used them several times. As someone noted earlier, Mike was great and so what his entire team. I don’t know everyone’s name, but Steve (onsite project manager) was very knowledgeable and I could tell he and his crew took great pride and detail in their work. I would highly recommend them and will use them going forward.

Mike came out to the house today. This guy knows EVERYTHING about masonry. I have received 2 estimates for the work that needs to be done to our parapit walls and windows. The other 2 companies are very reputable, but I am hoping that Arrow’s estimate comes through and it is a fair and competitive bid because I will def use this company to repair my house. I will also write in once I have the masonry work done. He was professional, knowledgeable, personable and trustworthy-​. If you need an estimate, I would call this company. I am not sure about their prices yet, but hopefully fair.

We hired them to do various masonry jobs on our 100+ year old home in Logan Square — tuckpointing, replacing some deteriorated bricks and partially bricking up 4 windows. They were fast and competent and very nice. They listened well and they even fixed up all these little extra things without extra charge. I felt the pricing was quite fair. I also appreciated that they were very detail-​oriented and made sure that all of the new elements matched the old as closely as possible.
