Christie’s Dairy Delights N’ Coffee House

Two very pleasant and courteous staff members greeted me and a couple of friends right when we walked in. After that, I found that not only do they know how to make an excellent custom latte — they also have coffee-​flavored ice cream to put in that latte!
If you haven’t had the chance to try that concoction yet, you really should, and you can get one here!
The white chocolate pretzels were also yummy.

Three stars… averaged from a four star rating for the ice cream shop and a two star rating for the coffee part. You serve metropolis coffee-​BONUS! But your accommodations for the coffee are on par with gas stations! EPIC FAIL! Why not provide your customers w a nice area with nice coffee condiments. Seriously has a 7 – 11 vibe going on!

Awesome place. The personalities working here are so great they’re only overshadowed by the even better ice cream.

Very friendly service. Only reason for 3 star rating was because the menu said there would be a delicious peanut butter cup on our sundae, but we didn’t notice until we left that it was missing. Wasn’t worth turning around to go back.

I work in the coffee industry so my tastebuds have been thoroughly pampered with delicious lattes and as I’ve recently relocated to palatine, I’ve been in search for that delicious latte – done the right way, and I found it! AND the staff is so warm and friendly!:)
I had a lavender latte and it was absolutely delicious! This place is going to be my new favorite coffee house!

Great ice cream and cupcakes (from Deerfield bakery) in a quirky, comfortable atmosphere. Espresso is so-​so but the ice cream is divine and service is always top notch. Comfy sofas to hang out on.

I always have fun at Christie’s :) This last Saturday, it was hot as the devil, so Ithought I’d have an icecream. Good decision!
I had a turtle sundae at Christies — between my GF and I, we ate it down to the maraschino cherry. Neither of us even like maraschinos, we just both wanted more of that delightful caramel and chocolate fudge flavors: D We instantly regretted eating the maraschino, since they are pickled and weird but somehow standard on icecream, but the rest of the sundae was perfect!
I’ve previously had their coffee drinks, and they are *pretty good*! They use Metropolis beans, a solid roaster, and their staff are great at prepping them.

Christie’s Dairy Delights is a breath of fresh dairy air. That’s dairy air, friends. Not derrière. That would be weird.
The delicious dairy selections are delightful as are the espresso options. And they have affogatos. If you’ve never had a scoop of ice cream drowned in a shot or two of espresso, then you are missing out on one of life’s most glorious treats. If you’re a coconut fan, they have a wonderful coconut chip sort of ice cream that pairs perfectly with the smooth espresso. Damn right!
Beyond the tasty treats and smooth caffeine, Christie’s is friendly in staff and in a co-​working sort of way. Wi-​fi was stable, everything was super clean, there’s plenty of parking, and the light is wonderful. Do yourself a favor and pop into Christie’s for a treat!

I was really excited to try Christie’s Dairy Delights after hearing such positive things but I wasn’t impressed. It may be that I ordered the wrong things but I did not enjoy my chocolate chip cookie dough latte nor my cold brew. My latte was super runny and had no taste to it and my cold brew wasn’t strong and the cashew milk was overpowering. I hope I just had one bad experience and that this didn’t represent the cute coffee shop.

One word: AFFOGATO.
Upon happening into this coffee shop for a business meeting, I was blown away by their extensive menu and selection of ice cream. When my boss recommended the affogato, I happily obliged. When in Rome, right? (or, err. Palatine).
Literally derived form the Italian word «drowned,» this ice cream dessert swims in a pool of delicious espresso. Its the perfect combination of both sweetness and boldness, and probably the most refreshing coffee treat i’ve ever had. Props to the barista for making my suggestion of trying it with the toffee ice cream– it hit the spot in a way I can’t even describe!
I know this is a small detail, but I always give props to coffee houses that play excellent music. I was really catching the Ray LaMontagne/​John Mayer/​The Cure acoustic vibes their radio was throwing out. I loved the diverse groups of students, families and solo folks drinking coffee, playing board games, and chatting away over the tables. But most importantly, I also appreciated their Unilocal check-​in offer for a discount on my bill… love that Christie’s loves Unilocalers!

My friend and I like to try new coffee shops together, and we’ve deemed this one of our top favorites! We visited today for the first time and got to meet Christie, who is amazing. She recommended the most popular item on the menu, the ice cream donut. It is all it’s hyped up to be and more — each of us got our own (although two or three people could easily share one) and loved them. There are 125 ice cream flavors that alternate throughout the year — lots to choose from, and they’re each funky in their own way. Not the regular, boring flavors you find in most places. Donuts are from Deerfield’s Bakery, which is really good (if you’ve never been there, I’d highly recommend it).
Christie is fabulous. She has a staff of 13 who have worked for her since the day she opened, two years ago. Having employees stick with you for so long says a lot about you as an owner. She is super friendly and happy to customize anything for you as best she can (she made my friend some sort of java/​raspberry/​white mocha — not sure exactly what it was, but my friend loved it).
The inside is welcoming and cozy. There’s a warm fireplace with books, tables and chairs, and couches with little area rugs. Décor on the walls and tables are all coffee-​lover-​friendly signs and quotes. There’s a few games as well, and the place overall seems suitable for any age. Definitely give this place a try if you haven’t already. I know my friend and I will be back soon. The ice cream cake rolls look too good to pass up, and you can choose how you want them made! Can’t wait for our next trip!

I feel it appropriate that my first Unilocal review goes to my new favorite local shop. I have only been here twice, but I have been searching for a local coffee house to call my favorite since I moved to the area nearly a year ago, and I finally found Christie’s!
This place really does have it all. Christie served us each time I went in and let me say, she is fantastic! The place is always spotless and super cozy. The coffee I’ve had each time is the best I have had in a LONG time. The Deerfields pastries are scrumptious as one would expect from Deerfields and my dog was a big fan of his treat too! I have yet to try any of the ice creams, but you bet I will be digging into those once it warms up.
I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place. Christie has done such a great job with it. From sourcing her sweet treats from other local establishments to the ambiance of her place to the hand crafted beverages, she really has got everything on point. I can assure you that I will be back again and again and again!

Great place! Love the atmosphere and the people there are very friendly. Had the white mocha latte – very good! My friend had the almond joy latte and apparently the last few sips were way too sweet, so make sure you get something sweetened how you like it. Can’t wait to come back in the summer and get some ice cream!

Quiet coffee/​ice cream shop during the day. Clean, charming. Relaxing music (Dave Mathews, adele, sister hazel, Ed Sheeran, Norah jones). Had tea and cake flavored ice cream on a pretzel cone. Holy unique and deliciousness! I’ll definitely be back! They also have a coffee/​tea rewards program.

5 stars for service, friendliness, and the Nana’s Banana Pudding ice cream! It is my absolute favorite ice cream in town! Everyone is always smiling and offering samples, instead of just standing there staring at you impatiently to decide what you’re ordering. Some folks might not care about that but it makes all the difference for me. I’m dying to try the coffee drinks, if I could only get past that ice cream!

I really want to like this place, especially since it’s a small business near where we live! But, unfortunately, I haven’t been happy with the service the last few times I have been in. The ice cream is good & the coffee is fine, but the people aren’t very friendly/​accommodating.

I walked into this cozy looking place, ordered fantastic ice cream, had some really good coffee, and sat down in a comfortable chair to enjoy it. My favorite song came on over the sound system just then. It was a perfect moment. Christie’s made my bad mood fly away and left me with a feeling of easy bliss. I will be back.

The coffee, ice cream, and chocolate options are amazing!!! I love metropolis coffee-​with a shot of chocolate and a shot of hazelnut, it was spot on. Had to buy some chocolate on my way out. Would absolutely recommend for some coffee or a quick treat.

If you’re ever in downtown Palatine you should treat yourself at Christie’s Dairy Delights! They serve the best coffee, tea, ice cream ,
pastries, and candy in town! You can even treat your pet because they carry awesome pet cookies made by Treat Diva. The place is cozy and the workers are fantastic! Can’t wait to stop there again !

I’m always game to try local coffeehouses in my area and had read great reviews about Christie’s. I purchased a deal on Groupon (4 $ 5 Groupons for $ 12), which were good toward coffee & pastries (not for their delicious looking ice creams).
My fiancé and I visited at the end of June, at the beginning/​end of July and in early August to use our Groupons. Service each time was excellent. The employee who served us on our first two visits was very friendly, eager to help us if we had questions and was very knowledgeable about their drink choices. We were served by the owner on our visit at the end of July. Again, she was very friendly and helpful.
On our second visit, our Groupon wasn’t marked as redeemed. I didn’t want to take advantage of them by getting another $ 5 off, so I brought in my receipt to show that I had used a Groupon, but it wasn’t redeemed. The employee who helped us during our first two visits had to scan my Groupon before marking it redeemed. Christie took care of it by marking it redeemed as well as redeeming a voucher for our purchase.
There are so many beverage options at Christie’s to suit all tastes. In addition to coffee, they have tea and smoothies. Their list of flavor syrups is super long as well. They also offer drink specials, which are advertised on a menu on top of their pastry cases. The special was espresso and Red Bull, which seriously sounds insane. They even have a disclaimer saying *not* to order it if you have health complications.
For drinks, I’ve sampled a soy peanut butter cup latte (it is topped with peanut butter cups, chocolate syrup drizzle and whipped cream), a soy vanilla latte and an iced soy vanilla latte with a little bit of whipped cream at the top. They serve Metropolis coffee, and I’ve been able to taste the coffee coming through in all my drinks, despite the sweetness. My fiancé is a simple coffee drinker and ordered a double espresso each time. He enjoyed his drinks every time we visited.
Their pastries come from Deerfield Bakery, which is a wonderful local bakery. If you’re into donuts, definitely try to get a hand on the Apple Spice one. This donut is the perfect one to eat with coffee since it isn’t too sweet. We had the Apple Spice one on two of our trips and a chocolate one during another. The chocolate one was good, but almost a touch too rich to go with my coffee. I definitely prefer the Apple Spice one.
Location wise, Christie’s is located in downtown Palatine right by the Metra station. There’s also outdoor seating so you can sip your beverage and enjoy the warm weather. The interior is pretty nice as well — hardwood floors and dark leather furniture. The seats by the fireplace are so comfy! They used to have retro-​style furniture in the back of the shop (like your traditional old school ice cream parlor), but they’ve since done away with that. You can actually buy the furniture if you want. Inquire with the staff if you’re interested.
Overall, I’m a fan. I cannot wait until I’m finished using my last Groupon (we plan to stop in next weekend) so I can come back for the ice cream. I’ve lingered at the case and drooled over the flavors I want to sample. They have flights so you can try three scoops, so you can sample more of their fine selection.
If you’re looking to try a local coffeehouse in the ‘burbs, swing by Christie’s and give them a shot — great quality coffee, comfy interior and a wonderful owner and employees — what more can you ask for? Oh, and their music selection is pretty good too!

Nice place to grab some ice cream on a summer night. I had a sampler with 3 smaller scoops of ice cream. I had the jacked up Tennessee toffee (my favorite), mackinac island fudge (also great), and peanut butter cookie dough (just ok). My wife just had a scoop of chocolate which she really enjoyed.
They have some great sundae options as well as baked goods. I will definitely be back to try some of the other flavors.

I came here because of 90 degree weather and Unilocal put them on number 4 of ice cream places by me. It was definitely worth it. The atmosphere is really cute and nice and the service was great too. I had pistachio almond and banana pudding ice cream. They were both great, but the banana pudding was the best highlight, and I would have been happy with just that. My friend had the carrot cake and it was also delicious with random pockets of cream cheese frosting. Christie’s is a place I’m definitely coming back to.

As the saying goes «Life is Uncertain Eat Dessert First»…held true on Sunday Funday at this locally owned ice cream parlor. Was it a cold and chilly day? Yes! Was it packed with a bunch of people including children? NOPE! For that reason, choosing to go today was perfect timing! I told my neighbor about this place last night as he is an avid ice cream fan. I’ve been wanting to try this place for months. The great thing is the husband who was recently found to be lactose intolerant had a variety of non-​dairy options to choose from Deerfield’s Bakery which is brought to Christie’s daily.
After drooling for months over the pics of the amazing looking ice cream and unique varieties of ice cream cones such as pretzel and chocolate chip cones… I pretty much had a good idea of what I wanted. With over a 100 flavors and 30 flavors available on a rotation basis I was hoping they had the Scout’s Honor ice cream as an option… THEY DID! The ice cream tasted like a Girl Scout thin mint cookie along with crunchy balls of chocolate. For my second scoop I ordered the s’mores brownie. The pretzel cone wasn’t exactly as I pictured it… I expected it to be the same color as a standard pretzel, regardless it tasted amazing! The employee were kind enough to ask me which scoop of ice cream I wanted on the bottom and of course had to have chocolate on the bottom to go along with the pretzel cone. This was probably the BEST ice cream I have ever eaten!!! My neighbor agreed ordering the coconut almond gelato and Scout’s Honor. My husband ordered his first ever Metropolis Coffee in a House Blend along with an Apple doughnut (courtesy of Deerfield’s). My husband throughly enjoyed his coffee and doughnut. I had a sip of his coffee which tasted awesome and I had a bite of his doughnut. I have never tried Deerfield’s doughnuts (I’m a sucker for their chocolate chip coffee cake) and have to admit their Apple doughnut put the apple doughnut from Long Grove fest to shame.

Staff are very friendly. very cute little place. They have tv and board games and a little bean bag couch. I think this was a really cute and nice little place to visit with my family and would recommend to anyone to go and check it out !

First time visitor here. They have 124 different unique flavors but only have fewer than 30 flavors available at one time so they rotate the flavors frequently. Plus it gives you an incentive to go back. My wife and I sat down and Christie, the owner came out and sat down and conversed with us which we thought was extremely nice. This young woman puts in major hours to make her business a success and is doing a great job of it. They open early in the morning as they are a coffee house as well. We will be back again and again!

With my sister raving about this place on FB and Benjamin L sending me private messages on Unilocal to stop going to Dunkin Donuts… how could I ignore two Palatine residents who advocate for small businesses in their hometown?
Besides, I am a believer that independently owned and operated local eateries provide better food to their customers. Their relationship with their vendors is about quality, not quantity of ingredients.
Unfortunately, it was too cold for ice cream today. I ordered a Double Chocolate Donut and an English Tea. The tea is served extremely hot but nothing that a couple of ice cubes couldn’t fix.
The girth of the donut was unbelievable! I ate half the donut during our car ride to my appointment. It was fresh, flakey, moist and delicious. When I got out, the amount of flakes and crumbs that were left behind on the passenger seat looked like my nephew had been there and not me.

My husband and I went here while in the area on a particularly nice day. It was a warm day after so many disgustingly cold days, so ice cream was warranted, of course. The ice cream was ok. It had a pretty good flavor, but it was over-​churned. It was nearly butter. Not the right consistency at all. My husband seemed to enjoy his. However, we both agree that it’s just another ice cream place. Nothing really stands out about it.
It seems like a good place to sit and wait for the next Metra.

SUPER kid friendly.
So much so that I actually felt kind of creepy as a barren person coming here, but the ice cream was good and the service is super friendly.
If you’ve got kids or love kids, this is the perfect place to stop for a treat and some free entertainemnt. If you’re not in to kids, do like me and plug your ears if it’s kids’ karaōke night and take your order to go while you walk around lovely D-​town Palatine.
They don’t have a monster selection of ice cream, but what they do offer is nothing to scoff at either. The flavors are pretty varied so you don’t feel like you need to spend a day looking at your options to make a decision, which is nice and keeps the line moving. In addition to ice cream treats they also have waffles to pair with your ice cream and a few select baked goods from Deerfield’s bakery.
If I remember correctly, I think the brand of ice cream they use is Ashby’s, which they note has the full fat and calories and there’s no preservative junk in there. It def tastes full of fat and calories (in a good way) and the first time I came here I’d actually ordered 2 cones with double scoops for my partner and I and it was WAY too much. I felt ice cream overload kick in about half way into the first scoop, but that’s also a testament to the portion/​scoop size they give, which is HUGE.
The next time we came here we split a double scoop and the same thing happened where I couldn’t even come close to finishing my one coop, but I still had no regrets about the size of our order because both flavors we chose were outstanding.
They’re hours are pretty great as they’re open late on the weekends so it’s nice to have this as an option if you’ve got an post-​dinner sweet-​tooth.
I like that their flavor rotation seems to change pretty regularly and they seem to be pretty popular as there’s pretty much always a packed house and a line. Also great is that they have something like 6 or 7 different cone options (though I’m a devout cake coke person).
There’s ample seating inside and quite a few patio tables outside as well. They do special game and karaōke nights (geared towards kids– FYI) and they’ve always got a kids movie on chalk ready for people to draw on their giant chalkboard wall — which appears to be a big hit with the kids.

Palatine has a new ice cream shop on the block and my crystal ball is telling me it will quickly become a staple in the ‘hood. My nieces and I were out to a show Saturday night and I promised the munchkins ice cream post show. We were all pretty exhausted & full, but there’s always room for ice cream — or any dessert for that matter. I put on a happy face for the little ones when all I really wanted to do was go home, put on my PJs and crawl into bed. I found Christie’s on the good ol’ Unilocal app and went there because they were open until 11pm. I’m happy to say my entire mood changed when I realized what a gem I had walked into.
Christie’s Dairy Delights has been open just 2 weeks in the downtown Palatine area and replaced another similar place which shall not be named. There is something different & special about their ice cream and shop. Not only do their dairy treats have creative names but they taste more creamy and have more bits & pieces in them than I’m used to. Scout’s Honor Mint Cookie was delicious with huge chunks of cookie in it & the mint was not overpowering but had a great taste. Word on my street is they are open to hearing flavor requests. They have the normal bowls, waffle bowls, sugar cones, waffle cones and… wait for it… pretzel cones! Now that’s cool.
The entire staff was super nice both to me and my nieces. One niece wore her Medieval Times crown into the shop and they were friendly asking her questions about the show. Even though it was late on a Saturday night, their energy levels were high and all three staff seemed happy to be there.
After we got our ice cream, my nieces first picked a high table to sit at because they thought it was pretty cool. But when they realized that on the other side of the shop there was some cool game show on the huge TV, an entire wall of chalkboard for them to play on plus games, we promptly moved our location closer to the action. We played some tic tac toe, Jenga and they had fun drawing flowers all over the chalkboard.
This place is great for families, I could see myself going with friends or on a date, and sadly for my waistline, I foresee myself going solo more than I should. Prices are very reasonable at $ 3.79 for two HUGE scoops. My nieces both added M&Ms which added .49 to the damage. They have so much more to offer than just the usual scoops such as The Pig Pen — 8 scoops of ice cream & 7 toppings all of your choice. That’s a beast of a dessert. A Twinkie split?! Doughnut ice cream sandwich?! Yep, they are full of creative dessert treats. Plus, they have cupcakes which appear to be sourced from Deerfield’s Bakery, another favorite of mine! I must try one stat.
As my nieces and I walked out, my niece ran back in and yelled to them, «Your ice cream is really good!»
