Westfield Palm Desert

We came here to go to the movie theatre which was quite confusing because we have never been to this location and we walked in through JC Penny. Lol. we went up and down stairs to be told to go around to get tickets. Very confusing BUT overall the mall itself had great stores from Hollister to H&M, Victoria Secret to Macy’s furniture. We were very happy with the selections

It’s a nice little mall. I was out in California and needed to do a little shopping with my daughter-​neither of us packed enough and needed a couple of items… I don’t know what I expected when we came across this place, but it’s certainly a perfectly acceptable place to shop. The Dick’s Sporting Goods store here was a little small, but had exactly what I was looking for (a couple golf shirts) and on sale too!
I can’t say we hit every store (we didn’t-not even close), but it was convenient, clean, safe, and we had an overall good experience. I’ve read over some of the super-​negative reviews, and while I didn’t have similar experiences (a-​I know how to say NO to solicitors, b– if a vape sales rep blew smoke in my face they’d be picking up their teeth, and c-​I don’t mind that the mall uses ‘every square inch for making money’ since that’s what they are supposed to do), I certainly understand the frustration. That said, we were in and out easily (parking is fine) and we were happy with our walk in the air-​conditioning on a VERY hot day.

DO NOT accept or go into the Lionesse Beauty Bar at Westfield Palm Desert! It is shocking that Westfield would even have such a store. But I’ve noticed the Mall has hucksters up and down its halls. If I could give this store minus 100, I would. Their tactics border on criminal. Their targets are middle-​aged/​senior women — but men too. After getting trapped into having a facial — half done, they start the «program» costs. Into the the tens of thousands! After schmoozing you until you laugh at the price, they become abusive and attacking — with half your face in mask and goop. When they realize you are serious, they keep going out of the room and come back with lower prices. When still refused they practically push you out. Then smile so sweetly as you get the hell out of there, happy you only spent hundreds!!! These kids are young, good looking, foreign-​accented hustlers. They must think this is what the American dream is all about. I will never return to that mall. (Can’t believe Nordstrom is considering having a store there and that Macy’s is there). It was really traumatizing.
I’ve alerted our credit card co, Calif Consumer Protection and the Westfield Corp.
I’ve since read several identical Unilocal reviews from all over the country.

I have been shopping for my children here since 1992 and now shop for our grandchildren at this mall. Tonight I had the worst experience ever. We took our grandchildren to see Santa and was greeted by the rudest, most unprofessional worker at the Santa display. The camera person treated all of us in line like unwanted cattle and was distracted from his duties by every young girl that walked by. Because of his lack of performing his job those of us waiting in line had to wait longer than we should have. When several of us confronted him with a request to take the pictures so we may move the line forward towards Santa he became hostile and combative. This person should be working around children.
Shame on you Westfield for allowing this person to tarnish your sterling reputation.

Auf unserer Fahrt nach Palm Desert sind wir auf dem Highway 111 auf das Westfield Einkaufszentrum gestoßen. Eine gute Gelegenheit den heißen Temperaturen in dieser Gegend zu entfliehen.
Wir hatten keine großen Schwierigkeiten auf dem Außengelände einen Parkplatz zu finden. Der Blick auf das Store Directory lässt erkennen, dass hier eher günstigere Läden im Einkaufszentrum zu finden sind. Ergänzt wird die Auswahl mit den Department Stores Macy’s, JC Penny und Sears.
Für unsere Kinder waren die Marken Hollister, Aeropostale, American Eagle, Forever 21, Gap und H&M interessant. Für mich persönlich war nur Macy’s interessant, wo ich aber auch nichts besonderes finden konnte.
Für die Kinder werden einige Attraktionen im Einkaufszentrum angeboten. So können die Kleinsten sich in einem kleinen Spielplatz beschäftigen oder mit einer Eisenbahn durch das Center fahren. Die größeren Kinder können sich bei einem Art Bungee Jumping amüsieren.
Der Food Court ist recht übersichtlich und man findet die üblichen Fastfoodketten (McDonalds und Subway) mit amerikanischen, italienischen und chinesischem Essen. Die Einrichtung war schon sehr heruntergekommen, so wie auch das gesamte Einkaufszentrum ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen ist.
Wir hatten uns dann lieber für den Kaffeeladen Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf entschieden die wirklich leckere Iced Coffees im Angebot hatten. Insgesamt war unser Besuch nicht so erfolgreich und es gibt sicherlich bessere Shopping-​Alternativen hier in der Gegend.

This is a great mall, it has lots of stores that are normal, ones I would shop at. I tried to go to Cabazon on Black Friday but could not get in due to the crowd so stopped here instead. My sister and I had a blast. Just wished the place had a Nordstrom!

This is a dumpy little mall that strives to use every square inch for making money. Their recent idea was to lease space in the middle of the mall to one of those vape companies.
Now, I have no problem with nicotine addicts or stores that sell them their drugs.
I do have a problem with employees of the vape company wandering around with their e-​cigs and blowing scented fumes in the faces of uninterested passersby. In one instance, I was holding my two year old, and one of the vapers looked at me, looked at my son, stepped towards us and blew his fumes right in our faces.
I went to the management office to complain, and a disinterested secretary pushed a half sheet in my direction with a shrug. Never got a follow up phone call, even though I requested it. The vapers are still at it, forcing their fumes in the faces of anyone who shops at the mall.
And the management does not give a rip.

This mall is the only choice out here so I don’t really have a choice but to shop here or at cabazon outlets. I will say this, being a mother, let alone a nursing mother, I expect Westfield to accommodate nursing mothers. They have a family restroom area which does have 3 individual nursing rooms but these rooms are disgusting. I was just there yesterday and I couldn’t believe I had to nurse my baby there. The chairs in each room were stained, smelled and are in need of replacing. The cushions aren’t comfortable at all. Inside the rooms the walls have dirt and whatever else on them. Those need to be cleaned. There’s only one room with a table. I’ve been to other Westfields where each room has a table. The family restroom has mold growing on the hand dryer! I took a picture of that as well. There is a microwave but no paper towels in this area at all. Also, they removed the chairs form the lounge and just have one big cushion to sit on. That doesn’t keep kids company while mothers are nursing.

This mall is mediocre. If you know which stores you need to got to, it will suit you fine. The selection of stores is not that great and there are only a few stores in this mall that I typically shop at. The food court is a bit blah, fortunately there is a Stuft pizza downstairs which I really enjoy. I was very disappointed with the shoe selection. I didn’t realize that it was typical for an entire mall (with the exception of literally 2 to 3 pairs of shoes at Macy’s) to not carry size 11 shoes. I checked with numerous stores inside the mall and kept hearing that size 11 is not stocked in store but can be ordered online. Wait, what? I frequent DSW and Nordstrom rack which both have a pretty decent selection of larger sizes, so I just figured other stores did too, now I know better. Payless has the size, but absolutely no selection.
We went to Windsor fashions and despite their prices being ridiculously high for cheaply made garments, the service there was wonderful. We found some cute clothes that we paid too much for, but it was nice talking to the sales people and feeling «trendy.»
So now for the Macy’s review… We went to grab some new lipstick at the «Impulse» section of the cosmetics floor. No one really came to help us out, but my daughter knew exactly what she was looking for. We bought the product and on our way out we passed through the fragrance counter and decided to smell a few new scents. While we were spraying and smelling, my daughter came up and whispered to me, «I just heard that sales lady talking about you.» My daughter told my friend and I that when I passed by, she looked at me up and down, rolled her eyes in disgust and made insulting comments about my tattoos to her coworker. Once my daughter told me what she said, I looked directly at her and she looked away. I debated whether to speak to a manager, but my friend was so offended she went to find a manager immediately. The sales lady realized that we heard her, so she tried to walk around the other fragrance counter to hide. The manager apologized, we were given a few sample bottles of perfume. It was a nice gesture from the manager which I appreciate. I hope the next time a Macy’s sales person decides to insult a customer, they do the right thing and wait until we leave so we don’t hear them!
I’ll stick to Marshalls, T.J.Maxx and Nordstrom Rack and only come here if I have to.

There is everything in this mall I really enjoy it a lot, a lot to see but shop eat do you Hair, Nails, Everything

I’m not a huge fan of most of the shops in this mall, they have done a pretty good job renovating it from what it was before. The parking garage makes parking a breeze, unless you are trying to park on the side of the mall without the garage, then it can be annoying. I love that they’ve added a stuft pizza to the mall, it’s the only reason I enjoy stopping at this mall. For most of my shopping I definitely prefer The Gardens on El Paseo, though this mall isn’t as awful as it once was.

I’ve been coming here my whole life and I mostly always find what I need or something similar. Also, there is a family room near the food court with nursing spaces, the couches need to be cleaned or reupholstered but they are better than nothing. Thank you Westfield! Those come in handy.

Westfield Mall does a poor job of controlling solicitation for customers walking through the mall. In particular employees of the Brilliance New York store are grabbing people as they walk by outside the store, luring them with free samples, then pulling them by the hand into the store to slather unbelievably priced potions ($ 250 – 500 per ounce) and conducting the most obnoxious high pressure sales tactics and false medical claims that I have ever experienced.
Most malls worth their salt have a no solicitation policy and that needs to be applied to their tenants as well. People need to be able to stroll through the mall without fear of being accosted.

Lots of stores to choose from. Covered parking. I’m a fan! Lots of food, clothing, all kinds of stores. I very happily bought a floppy hat for the beach and found a great price at one of the stores.

The people that work at the Mac store inside the Macy’s are extremely rude! they made my experience very uncomfortable I got stared down from head to toe I had something on hold from another store they looked at me like if I was crazy then gave me attitude while at the register very stuck up workers that act like they’re shit doesn’t stink I don’t know who they think they are but I’m the paying customer so if it wasn’t for the customers you guys wouldn’t have jobs so be a little more respectful I will never be returning to this store in my life!

This mall is AMAZING!
I was in the desert visiting my mom this past weekend and decided to take the hour and an half drive (the horrific one through Imperial Valley to the Salton Sea) with my daughter for a mommy/​daughter day. I am happy I decided to go, cause it was such an experience! This mall is HUGE! They had every store I could think of… a Wet Seal!!! I didn’t even know Wet Seal existed anymore! I made my daughter look in there but she was not having it. HA
The food court is also really large. the food court in the mall by us in North County have like 8 choices, where this one had like 30!

Decent mall.
It has it’s ups-​and-​downs.
The first time I visited, I had a bad experience trying to order a smoothie and another bad experience trying to order a milkshake. I never actually managed to drink a smoothie or a milkshake, because the service was either too slow or non-​existent.
My second visit, a young man who was smoking actually apologized for smoking near me. Wha? That was a first. I have never had a smoker apologize for smoking.
During this visit, I purchased a Frappuccino from the Starbucks in Barnes and Noble and encountered the happiest Starbucks employee on the planet, who created a unique drink for me that wasn’t on the menu.
Unfortunately, also during this visit I had a difficult time purchasing products at the GNC store. For some reason, the employee couldn’t quite comprehend «buy one, get one free.»

Been coming to this mall my entire life and will probably continue to do so. This mall made the Indio Fashion Mall look like hit garbage even during that mall’s hayday.
The parking here is vast and also supplies a parking garage. Never had trouble and probably won’t ever have trouble. The mall has a lot to offer and is always bringing in new stores to satisfy the consumers. I am always impressed on how they update the décor and shops.
The food court has plenty of space and offers quite the variety to choose from. I have yet to see a new restaurant open though. The area is clean despite how many people are using it!
The mall offers a small play place for children along with motorized rides. Has scattered vending machines and atms. It’s 2-​stories with no specific layout of stores. Directories are posted at every entrance and in between to help guide you if need be. They always have something special going on at the epicenter.
Overall, this mall fulfills the needs of the Desert and could not think of any negatives.

Now that we have that out of the way, that’s why I am giving this mall four stars. If you were to stick this mall back home in Orange County, three stars. But given its locale, four stars it is.
This mall has all of your staples, everything that you would need. I believe its anchored by Macy’s and Sears (Macy’s had some great jewelry sales on when I was there), and has your array of entertainment, apparel, and sports stores.
What I found interesting: this mall caters to the younger side of the desert (young adults and teens), yet it’s in Palm Desert. I’d expect that they would have stores to cater to the vast age group that the Coachella Valley targets? Just a thought. Or maybe they’re all rolling in the bucks and hitting up El Paseo.

Before my first trip here, I was told «there’s nothing there». I really expected nothing to be here, except the department stores and maybe a desolated food court.
It’s actually not completely deserted! Shopping for a young female like me wasn’t that hard. Given the Forever 21 kinda sucked, I found Street 22, Pacsun, Charlotte Russe, Victoria’s Secret, Express, Aldo, etc. The Forever 21 at the River beats this one hands down.
It seems like another one of those malls with local middle/​high school students loitering and strolling the floors. For a nicer shopping experience, try out El Paseo just one block away.
The other day, I got to sample Hickory Farms’ cheese & ham! That means the winter holidays are approaching! :)
