Specialties
Michael’s House is nationally recognized for providing integrated treatment for drug and alcohol addiction and mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, grief/loss, trauma, bipolar disorder, personality disorders and similar conditions. We are located at the foot of the towering San Jacinto mountain range in Palm Springs, Calif., and our modern, restorative facility with four campuses (our Stabilization Center, Men’s Center, Women’s Center and Outpatient Center) provides safety and privacy for patients seeking healing and recovery.
Our program treats patients aged 18 and older in both residential and outpatient settings. Our staff is specially trained in the Foundations Recovery Network treatment model to address the complex needs of individuals with co-occurring disorders and to treat the whole person in a comprehensive way.
History
Established in 1989.
Michael’s House opened its doors in 1989 as a mother’s response to her son’s drug addiction and subsequent death. Arlene Rosen founded a treatment center and named it after her son, Michael Rosen, with the intent to help others escape the disease of addiction through an intensive residential program. In 2006, a Nashville, Tennessee-based organization called Foundations Recovery Network (FRN) came on board to help Arlene grow Michael’s House, which began as a 24-bed, gender-specific facility. Today, FRN has expanded Michael’s House to include four campuses with 120 beds that serve men and women in both residential and outpatient settings.
Meet the Manager
Craig M.
Manager
Craig MacLaughlin has been a pioneer in the field of integrated treatment for more than thirty years. A Southern California native who graduated from San Diego State, he began working in the mental health field providing services to young adults and their families.
After many years at Scripps Hospital, Craig opened a 150-bed shelter to provide integrated substance abuse and mental health treatment to homeless men in San Diego. As the shelter grew, the complexity of the individuals as well as the need to access both mental health services and substance abuse treatment became apparent. The barriers to access services at the local, state and federal levels were challenging to say the least. The years working with young adults and the homeless lead him to become a dedicated advocate for integrating co-occurring treatment systems.
