Unfortunately the food and service were not up to standard. I was there for lunch, and it was fantastic. Dinner was an uncomfortable experience. Three parties in the location on a Saturday night, I know why. Overcooked steak– meal was average at best. No lamb– ran out? No turkey sandwich– one of the three kids meal choices. Server did not have hospitality. Empty restaurant and we have to wait for everything? I’ll continue to go for lunch where I know the food and Debbie are consistently great.

Nice little restaurant with amazing food! The customer service was excellent, and the food was out pretty quickly. The name is somewhat misleading. It didn’t make me think bakery so much as Italian restaurant, but either way it was delicious. I would definitely recommend this to others.

This place is kind of a hidden jewel for the AV. It doesn’t have the widest varieties in wine, but the food is consistently delicious… and dare I say… they have the most gourmet soups in town! When dinners done, the dessert selection can’t be beat! Good eats!!!

Mediocre. Not horrible. It was just alright. I won’t bother with this place again. Nobody in my party was particularly happy with the food or service.

Fantastic food. I have been there twice already and I love it there. Pasta Roma and angle hair pasta where amazing. Lawn mower salad was fantastic and fresh. Lentil soup was yummy. Their bread is addictive. I highly recommend this restaurant. The service is also very friendly.

this restraunt is a gem in the av. unfortunately whenever i would go by it is always empty. my husband and i ate lunch here yesterday. the food was amazing. starting with the bread it was so fresh it’s made on the premises, then we ordered a pizza with eggplant and tomatoes which was incredible the dough they use is so good. my husband got the pasta fettucini which in his words, «better then any italian restraunt in the area». the ingredients in the salad are so fresh. i know it seems the prices are a little high but when you order the food freshly made it is completely worth it. if you go to any franchise owned restraunt in the av you do end up paying as much for below standard frozen, mass produced food and yes you might get more food for your buck but the taste will never even come close to what the bakery express café serves. everyone please give it a try its terrible to go by this beautiful restraunt and see it empty, while you go to the mall and see the chain restraunts overflooded with people. shame on us for not supporting our local restraunts instead we give our hard earned money to the corporate restraunts with their frozen, processed food. my husband and i have vowed to come to av bakery at least once a week. everyone should support this beautiful restraunt the food is the best you will find in the antelope valley.

Had a fantastic lunch at Bakery Express in West Palmdale. I’ve been a patron for over 12 years and the food is always fresh and delicious. I don’t even look at the menu any more, as the chef makes a special penne pasta dish for me, with extra vegetables and garlic, that is second to none! They’ve also got a ton of delicious desserts, which I indulged in the carrot cake today. Great food, wonderful service and a great atmosphere. If you want all that and to support local mom and pop businesses, you won’t be disappointed with your experience at Bakery Express.

My go to lunch is the lawnmower salad, which is always fresh and flavorful. The half sandwich/half salad lunch is perfect. Turkey burger is delicious. Freshly baked bread is nice touch. Staff is friendly and attentive. One of the best places in the Antelope Valley.

I was looking for a good sandwich and salad place and read the reviews so decided to give it a try. For the price there are other places with a much better salad. The tomatoes were a bit large, the ham was chucks, and the turkey more like sandwich slices, the ranch was just ok, nothing special or homemade like. They did give plenty of bread with my to go order, and it seemed homemade, but was a little odd; it smelled like rosemary but then had a couple raisins in it, like it was supposed to be sweet? Service was good and fast, but I ended up just sitting down because there was no place to wait for my order. Probably wouldn’t go back.

First impression was the bread which literally looked like it came right out of a loaf of wonder bread from the grocery store. Been here about 10 minutes now and no order taken. Not a great start Ok finally ordered then 5 minutes later the waitress returns to tell us… Ooooooopppps. We ran out of filets sorry but they just told me. Would like something else. The salads came and Caesar was ok and hubby’s was plain lettuce with dressing. No croutons or anything else at all. Hubby had Steak Sinatra and said it was bland and carrots under cooked and hard. Fettuccine with chicken and spinach in Alfredo was extremely bland. I could not taste any parmesan flavor at all. This has potential to be a true gem, but a lot of work needs to go into the food. I really wanted to love this place. Sorry guys!!! My pick is Lemon Leaf on Lancaster blvd.

This is the first time I had been at this new location and found restaurant clean and well appointed. The wait staff(Debbie) was very friendly and attentive. The petite dinner salad was very fresh and was accompanied with a zesty and flavorful vinaigrette dressing. I was there for lunch and had their Center Cut Pork with mashed potatoes and seasoned squash. Everything was very delicious and well priced at $ 13.95. I wasn’t expecting a steak house thick flavorful pork chop but I got one here and will be back soon for another one. I highly recommend this eatery.

Yum. Just ordered the lawnmower salad to go for lunch. Can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a salad more. The red wine vinaigrette was so good. Portion size is huge. Portioned it in half so I can have the rest for lunch tomorrow. They also packed a ton of bread and butter. Paid nearly $ 11 for my salad which seems like a lot until you see the size and bread. Haven’t been for dinner yet but looking forward to soon. Also the staff is very pleasant which of course is a plus :)

Their Center Cut Pork Chop with Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, and Fresh Vegetables was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. And less than $ 15 for this meal is fabulously underpriced. I went for a late lunch 2 days in a row for this same meal it was that good. Their Lawnmower Salad is incredible! Romaine lettuce, cheeses, olives, chickpeas, diced cucumber, fresh sweet tomato and pepperoncini in a wonderful red wine lemony garlicky vinaigrette. Can add salami or chicken — we chose the chicken. The bread is fresh fresh fresh — I ate ½ loaf myself. Oh well. The staff treats guests as good as it gets. And then there is dessert. Their cheesecake is light and fluffy and the blueberry compote was decadent. And their freshly made cookies are so good — again, the prices are phenomenal. If I lived in the Palmdale area, I would probably be there at least 3 days a week, maybe more… yes, its that good. They also have sandwiches, and pizza and other gourmet food delights… you will not be disappointed.

I met a friend here for lunch, it was the first time here for both of us. We entered and were greeted, seated, and given menus. The name of the young lady who greeted us was Britney and she would also be our server. Britney returned with a basket of fresh bread and home made preserves she then took our drink orders and we looked over the menu. There were many items that looked good but I finally settled on the Grilled Sicilian Sausage Sandwich which includes Mesquite Smoked Italian Sausage with Caramelized Onions and Peppers, Marinara Sauce and Mozzarella Cheese in a fresh Roll with Red Cabbage Slaw on the side. My friend decided on the Chicken Foccacia which consists of Grilled Breast of Chicken served on basil parmesan flatbread with olive purée, gruyère cheese, roasted red peppers, thin red onion, tomato and lettuce and red cabbage slaw on the side. When Britney returned she took our orders and asked how we liked the bread, the bread was very good and we told her so, I really enjoyed the preserves and asked her about them, she explained that the preserves were made by the owner and the ingredients are locally grown. The restaurant is on the small side and I would guess it seats about 50 or so at mostly 4 place tables although there are several 2 place tables for couples. The interior is nicely appointed with tile flooring, crown molding, and hanging lighting. Britney returned with our orders, My sandwich looked great! it was served on a roll that had been opened like a bread bowl with all of the ingredients placed inside and the top replaced, my friend’s sandwich also looked good. I cut mine in half because it was going to be impossible to pick it up in one piece and not make a mess. My sandwich was delicious, even cut in half it was difficult to handle with everything that was stuffed inside of it but I managed. My friend enjoyed his sandwich as well and said he was going to come back with his daughter because she would love the place. After we finished Britney asked if we wanted dessert, we both did so she started naming the desserts that were available that day, I decided it would be easier to walk over to the dessert display at the rear of the restaurant and have a look for ourselves. Britney came with us to point the items out and to make suggestions. I decided on the Chocolate Soufflé and my friend ordered the Triple Chocolate Cake. We returned to the table and Britney soon followed with desserts in hand. The Soufflé crust was light and flaky, the inside was also light with a nice chocolate flavor, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to finish it after that sandwich but I did. My friend said the cake was very rich, like eating a chocolate brownie, he was unable to finish it and took some of it home. Britney was a delight, always there with a refill, chatting and joking with us a bit, and able to explain the menu and make suggestions. I would definitely return to Bakery Express Café and would suggest it to my friends!

This place is a hidden gem. It is in the Palmdale Walmart shopping center and its logo is a red and white circle, I always thought it was some sort of realty business. I used to eat here when they were in Palmdale and then they moved to the mall and now they are at this location. The interior is very pleasant and the food was excellent. I had the salmon with potatoes and vegetables and it was all delicious. The bread at the beginning and the cheesecake at the end rounded it all out to make a perfect meal. I would definitely go here again.

Steer Clear!!! Been here twice, both times, disappointed. First time, $ 15.24 chicken Marsala lunch entrée consisted of MAYBE2 oz of very thin chicken, cooked to ultimate dryness, coated in mediocre Marsala sauce with mushrooms, served with bland potatoes and a throw away side of veggies. This time, $ 10.85 lunch salad consisted of ¾ head green leaf lettuce, ¼ cup feta cheese, 2 tbsp Swiss cheese, ONE cherry tomato sliced in half and stuffed with ONE kalamata olive. Please don’t disappoint yourself. If you’re in the area, there is a wing stop two doors down and that is a better bet.

Hands down, one of my favorite places to eat out here in the High Desert! Moving back from OC to AV, one of the things I sorely missed was a solid local place to eat at that wasn’t a chain. Thank heavens that my friend introduced me to Bakery Express. It’s definitely eased the sting of moving back and missing the myriad of culinary choices. I haven’t dined here for dinner yet, but this is a great place to get some lunch. My absolute favorite right now is their Capellini pasta. The pasta is always cooked perfectly, the sauce is light but packed with flavor. I also dig hot bruschetta sandwich and their garlic potato soup isn’t too shabby either. The prices are fair. The service has always been good and attentive. A note at the bottom of their menu does say $ 15 minimum for credit card.

Okay, after looking at the reviews I really wanted to fall in love with this place, but with one dining experience behind me, I really can’t. Don’t misunderstand, it’s a clean and nice-looking place with some classical music ambiance(although I do think the selection could be improved a little). We walked in late-afternoon and the chef was agreeable to letting us order off the dinner menu, which we really appreciated, particularly as the dinner menu has more entrée items listed. We started with and really liked the simplicity of the Baby Grand salad we shared. I had high hopes given this was a «bakery», and thought there was nice texture to their white bread but I would have liked a little more yeasty-ness. The cute service of carrot soup, piping hot, in a true«cup»(mug) was wonderful. It really was a cup of soup. Our waitress Denise was very friendly and helpful. On our entrée orders, the vegetables were perfectly al dente, mashed potatoes were disappointing, my steak was flavorful but certainly not prime. We’re on a dedicated search for great carrot cake and decided to try it here given that the waitress said it was«the best ever» … but we shared and thought definitely NOT!!! Update: the spouse went back with a friend for lunch and ordered a $ 15.95 seafood linguini plate(shrimp, scallops, salmon, all cooked perfectly) with a nice tomato sauce that he said was great. So I’ll have to go back and try that :)

This has been one of mine and my mom’s favorite places to eat since I was a little kid. Every time I visit home, I have to eat here, so I am overjoyed that they re-opened! You have to try their soup. They have soups you will never find anywhere else! Carrot soup sound gross? No way! It is so creamy, I could eat two tubs of it myself. Their home-made bread is superb– I wish I had the patience and knowledge to make bread like this. If you don’t have a lot of time, just call ahead of time and order it for pick up. They always give you a lot of bread when you get take out too, which a lot of places don’t do. It is also a popular place for people to go during their lunch hour. I love the waiters and waitresses here. They’ve all been working here since I was a little kid and they are totally friendly. Try the baby grand salad… it’s more grand than baby! My favorite pasta is the fettucini(the one with spinach, mushrooms, and feta cheese)… and like I said, their bread rocks so get a sandwich. Turkey with the chutney(to spread on it) is amazing. but I love their cabbage slaw stuff too. This is definitely a less-known gem in the AV, and now it’s conveniently right by the mall! We have been wishing they would move closer to us for forever, and now our dream came true!
