Fantastic breakfast! Just like I grew up with. We stopped here on our way to Parhump after catching a whiff of the cooking. We quickly got out of our car and walked in to check it out. It’s family owned and operated. They’re adding a night shift to keep up with demand. We absolutely loved it. I will be back very soon.

Stopped here on a whim, the place is just a little hole in the wall, and we’re so glad we did! The first thing that gets you is the aroma. If you weren’t that hungry before, once you walk in, you will be. The food smells are wonderful, and the promise of tasty Mexican cuisine is more than kept! The Carnitas Plate is to die for! Tender pork, savory and delicious, flavorful rice and beans, and warm, yummy corn tortillas. That I praise the corn tortillas, says a lot, as I usually order flour. When we ordered, I didn’t specify, and was more than pleasantly surprised. The lady was really nice, and friendly, and we got our food in record time, which was good, cause we were hungry. If you’re out on the Pearblossom Hwy, aka, Hwy 138, and you’re in the vicinity of Palmdale & Littlerock, do yourself a favor, and stop in at La Palma, I promise you, your tastebuds, and tummy, will thank you!

Wonderful establishment, the woman behind the register is super nice. They have the best carnitas outside of Mexico. I come from a long line of hard core beaners so I know what I’m talking about. This is a true hidden gem. Definitely make it a mission to try this place. A must for local AV residents.

Apparently, the name has changed for this place to El Carbonero. I love Mexican food, and the food was really good, but the service… not so much. Maybe I’m having the wrong expectations for a Mexican restaurant? No chips and salsa until I mentioned it. What came out was a small divided plate with a spicy bean dip, a few chips, and some sliced carrots and onions. A little weird, but the bean dip was pretty awesome! I ordered the beef fajitas. It was delicious, but a little different. The tortillas were small and very thick. Rather than making my own«custom» fajita tacos like I’m used to, I had to take bites of all the«ingredients» and then a bite of tortilla. It was still delicious, just different. I never got a return visit from my server until I was finished eating and was half way through this review! Lol. Including myself, there were around fifteen people dining. Spanish music blaring; not cool since I’m not bilingual. Patrons in the next room were dancing when a live band began performing. Let me clear that up: I definitely don’t mind Spanish music, especially at a Mexican restaurant! It was the volume. Loud like a Vegas night club, if that helps you visualize it. For the entire meal, only four visits from my server. One to take my order. One to deliver my chips and salsa. One to deliver my meal. One with the bill. Good food, like I said, but for the ambiance they are trying to provide(dress code, tablecloths, servers with radio earpieces, etc), I just expect more.

I’ve been to a lot of Mexican food restaurants all over So Cal, and this is a bold statement, but this is by far, without question the best Mexican food restaurant ever!!! You would drive by a 1,000 times and never think to eat there. Do yourself a favor, even if it is out of the way, go there! It is very unassuming. The food and the people make it priceless. Great home made style Mexican food and they’ll treat you just like family. I can not begin to say enough good about these guys. Go!!! Now!!!
