before becoming a hair designer, Maheen spent much of her time at the very best salon and spas on every continent enjoying the benefits of high quality, excellent service and a privileged life.

Her new life in california changed many things. today she is a stylist, a mother, a wife, an artist, an intuitive healer and a cook. Maheen’s background and life experience helps her guide her clientele’s to navigate social affairs with flair and find «style solutions» that are appropriate to lifestyle and functions.

Maheen is one the most accurate colorist on the west coast and her signature cuts make you look more attractive and a bit hipper. She is especially talented in interpreting the latest fashion and looks relevant to personal style.

I visited Mahin today looking for a new men’s cologne. NamNam was very kind with her knowledge and time. My experience was excellent. She has a women’s nose on what smells great on a guy. I find this sensitivity very much missing when working with the department stores. I am new to wearing colognes. I told her that I wanted something I could wear with my work clothes (suit-​tie-​slacks) and one that women would find sexy. She suggested CoSTUME NATIONAL HOMME. It smelled amazing and very unique on my skin. I purchased the 100ml bottle. She suggest only 1 spray. I applied it around 4pm today. It is know 8:35PM. I am really appreciating the beauty of this cologne since application. One spray is just right for me as it is holding it dry down notes with power.
If you are tired of the mainstream fragrances and need direction to not smell like the next guy. You should drop by Mahin and have a conversation with NamNam. You will learn a bit more about fragrances while having a great scent conversation. Hopefully you will find a connection to a cologne that gives you that unique experience every time you put it on.

I have literally never found a better salon for my hair services. I’ve always been extremely cautious when choosing salons, and I always leave in tears because my hair is atrocious. At mahins, never is the case! I always leave happy and in love with my hair. In fact, recently, I went to another salon out of convenience and that was a mistake. So Irina fixed my hair for me, and it looks so. Good. I also highly recommend for the Brazilian blow out.

Maciel is an artist in every sense and provided an excellent haircut and overall experience. She is great!
I was offered a beverage of choice the moment I walked in, followed by a great hair shampoo, scalp massage, and one of the best mens haircuts — time after time. Make an appointment since they book up fast, for obvious reasons.

Unfortunately, they have lost my business as a repeat customer. I had an eyebrow appointment the day before Easter that they could not honor and it has affected my holiday plans. My appointment was at 3:00 and I was told by Nam Nam when I arrived early that the stylist was running late. I didn’t worry as these things happen; however I had an another appt. next door at 3:30. At 3:15 I asked Nam Nam if there was going to be time for my appt. and she said no — that she couldn’t do anything about the situation. Trying to problem solve, I asked if I came back in an hour would that work and I was told no because the stylist had another appointment. I’m not sure why I couldn’t be fit in and another client asked to wait for 15 min rather than completely turn a customer with an appt. away. I was given the option to come back at the end of the day, which was not realistic. I quite simply have never been treated this way before by an establishment where I was a customer.

I am always reminded when I get old-​world service and quality how rare it is in today’s rushed world… and that’s exactly what I received when I went to Mahin & Co and got a much-​needed hair cut. I actually got more than a cut… I got care and lots of it. I rush around all the time and rarely take the time to futz with myself, so it was delightful to not get just get a cut, but a relaxing experience. Maciel did such a good job of listening to what I wanted to do with my hair and never once did she utter a word about how terrible I have been to my hair… really awful!
So, to get the wonderful shampoo and relaxing hair massage and TLC was like going back in time to a real salon experience, like I used to get when I lived in Manhattan.
NamNam is charming, personable and treats each customer experience like it’s the most important. And the founder, Mahin (who was away visting her new grandson… congratulations!) is a genius with color and cut.
I have to admit I’ve strayed from Mahin in the last few years because I just thought I couldn’t take the time to go to California Avenue (I work in Redwood City now) but I learned today that I’m worth it!
I would not hesitate recommending Maciel and everyone trained by Mahin and NamNam.

So, first off I am going to say that I was 100% please and amazed with Kate! She was so sweet and friendly and most of all she knows what she is doing… HANDS DOWN!!!
I just moved to Sunnyvale from NYC and have always had someone I know cutting my hair. My Mother was a stylist for years as a child, my ex was a stylist and most of my friends as well, so I have never had a stranger cut my hair! I was very desperate for a trim as I have very very long hair. I get compliments on it a lot but I knew it really needed a trim and some shape to it.
I did a lot of research on Unilocal to find the right place. One of the main things that caught my eye about Mahin’s salon is their line of products! I am a 100% product junkie and they carry top of the line products that most people have never heard of unless you know your products! And if you know the BEST OF THE BEST! They do here!
So here is what I loved about this salon…
* I was able to get an appointment ASAP
*100% product knowledge (plus they sell Oribe… thee best hair products!)
*Kate gives really great massages while shampooing!
*Kate is an excellent stylist! She really knows what she is doing and has enthusiasm about what she does! I could tell right away!
*Everyone there was friendly. Even the clients were nice!
*Clean
*My cut turned out amazing and Kate even spent a good amount of time to blow out my hair!
I walked out of the salon not feeling guilty for spending what I did on the haircut and products I bought because I felt beautiful AND!!! MOST IMPORTANTLY… my boyfriend noticed and said «You’re hair looks beautiful baby!!» Now that’s when you know you’ve found a good stylist!

I don’t know why have not posted my review sooner, but I am doing it now.
I have been having my brows shaped by Nam Nam for quite a while now, and I am so pleased with the job she does. She has also done my makeup, given great tips on makeup and perfume.
I just recently have had a Brazillian Blowout with Kate and it has been fabulous. My hair is in far better condition than it was before the treatment.
She also cut my hair and I love it.
Will keep going back.

I had always loved going in to Mahin co. even before I started getting my hair done there. I had a bad experience with another salon and my hair was bleached and cracking off. Mahin, Kate and Nam Nam were great at helping me become patient. I was not a person of patience, but their gentle approach at healing my hair paid off. A year later people constantly compliment me on my hair and my eyebrows. My hair has never been this healthy. This is really a special place to me because everyone has the best of intentions and is extremely passionate about what they do. I’ve learned a lot of little beauty tricks here and there from them.
If you love perfume, or don’t know what scent would suit you, go and speak with Nam Nam. You will have her complete attention and you won’t walk out with a bunch of products you don’t like.
Mahin does have a vision of what will look best on each person. I used to get funky cuts that didn’t suit me. In the beginning I wanted to go blonder, ect. But through Mahin and Kate, I learned to work with the hair I have and feel good about it. Isn’t that the point of beauty?
I get compliments on my hair literally everyday. Because of the «Brazilian blowout» treatment, it takes me five minutes to blow dry it myself and have it look amazing.

I’ve been putting off getting my hair cut for a while (read: months). I have moved enough that I don’t have a go to stylist, but it was time. I gave in, Unilocaled and ended up at Mahin & Co. Didn’t want to spend a *ton* because often times I end up with a mullet-​like layered cut that I didn’t ask for.
I called and they had an appointment in 30 mins (no time like the present, eh?) with Catie. She took time to listen to what I wanted and offered a few suggestions. I had one of the best head massages, gorgeous bumble&bumble products, and the cut I wanted (well, to a better version of what I wanted). I think I’ve found someone I will be going back to and maybe this time I won’t wait 9 months to do it.

The haircuts are reasonably priced and perfectly fine; a blow dry is included. However, the color I have not been pleased with, after two times. In addition they asked me to pay more than the normal amount while I was sitting in the chair, even though I did not want anything different than the first time. Honestly a little disappointed. Going there is not a relaxing experience, in fact it is often stressful. Cannot recommend.

Returns on unused products is a NO RETURN POLICY.
Why would I want to return something I have bought and never tried?
So, the store has a NO return policy. Again, I can go anywhere else and try a product and return it if it is not what I want.
Namnam says they have specialist that allow you try the products. That is not the same as trying it at home. The atmosphere of the store is not conducive to hanging around and trying products out. Namnam watches and controls everything. It is not a friendly atmosphere but a stuffy one. Take you money elsewhere!

Srutih gives the best haircut and style. I have worn my hair long all my life and needed an update. I went in and asked Sruitih to do whatever she wanted with my hair. She cut it short. It looks amazing. I always thought my face would look more round with short hair. But the cut actually compliments my cheek bones. Complete strangers come up to me and ask who cuts my hair. Srutih is amazing. I even took all my kids there recently. They love her too! If you want a great cut or to update your look, Sruitih is your stylist.

I consider coming to Srutih Colbert for my haircuts and Mahin for my hair color at Mahin and Co. the best choices I’ve made in years in terms of taking care of myself. I always feel wonderful leaving the salon with an updated, chic hairstyle and gorgeous, flattering color. The best part is that weeks later I’m still very happy with my style and color.
I would recommend both Srutih and Mahin very highly. As a woman in her 40’s, it’s great to feel so good about how I look.

I don’t get my hair cut here. I only go for one reason, the perfume. Now, I know nothing about perfume, but when I go here I always leave with an awesome purchase. The reason: Namnam. She is the most knowledgeable person about fragrances that I have ever met. She talks to me like a person, always works with my budget and remembers my name and purchase history, even when I haven’t been there in over a year.
So, if you are looking to buy your loved one a boutique perfume, this is the place to go. It isn’t cheap, but there is nothing better than a woman wearing a beautiful scent that you spent your time and money picking out for her.

I went because of rave reviews on the Mothers’ Clubs I belong to. And because as much as I have liked the places I’ve gone to that were in a less affluent price range, I haven’t been in love with the cuts. Srutih got major kudos so I made my appointment to see her on Friday.
Making the appointment was tough because my son is in school from 830am to noon and Mahin and Company doesn’t open until 11am. But for me, the office manager said that Srutih could come in early. I was grateful. She even said my rambunctious nearly four year old could come in because he was so sweet. He was shy. He would have driven them nuts.
I wandered in just before 10am and it was the office manager and I chatting (forgive me for forgetting your name! I forget my own half the time) when Srutih came in. She took one look at my hair and asked me what I wanted to do. I told her I wanted to maintain the length but could she make a decision for me about the bangs. Do I have that wispy fringe thing with too long side fringe or do we do something else? She gave me more of a fringe which I adored. The look is kind of Marlo Thomas «That Girl» 1966 but modernized. I adore it.
With most hair cuts, I like it for the first day. Then I wash it and find that it’s impossible to work with. This one was easy to deal with and I still find it a bit sassy (especially since I went a little nuts in the hair colour department and made my hair ‘Scilla marries Elvis dark).
Mahin and Srutih are not cheap. $ 115 for the cut. But I don’t anticipate it getting super shaggy in six weeks — I can wait eight before I got back to Srutih to make me the swingin’ Mommy at the preschool again.

Mahin is brilliant. When people talk about a good cut, this is what they mean. When people talk about seeing a stylist to find a style, this is what they mean. Mahin doesn’t do mere innovation. Mahin will really look at you and your hair. Your cut will hold up when you take it home. It will fit with who you are and who you want to be. She will take care of you and set you up to come back for trims and/​or touch-​ups so your style and polish don’t slip. You can book several appointments in advance. You could book them for the whole year. This is a Real Salon.
Moreover, Mahin knows more than how to cut and colour. When I first went to her, I’d just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. My hair showed it. It wasn’t just flat, it was falling out. Hair may seem like a silly thing to worry about in the face of illness, but if you know about programs like Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths or Locks of Love for cancer patients… losing hair is like the last straw. Mahin helped me save hair, grow healthy hair back, and feel infinitely better.
Her daughter Namnam, who does the front shop, is fabulous. She is indeed the queen of perfume. My family is embarrassingly Edwardian in manner. In the old days, we’d dress for dinner. I remember going to stay with my grandparents once and having no perfume. My uncle got in the car, went to town, and came back with an armful of bottles he was so scandalised. Namnam didn’t laugh (too much) at my story and has helped me navigate these waters. I love, love the wood smoke scented candles she carries. It also has to be said that Namnam is the queen of all beauty products and techniques. She’s revealed to me the things you hope to get in a makeup lesson but never do.
I will tell you what the ladies of the area say quietly to each other — Mahin & Co. is what diPietro Todd wants to be.

I tried this salon for the first time. I saw Kate. We discussed my hair. She said she was going to cut it to a length just above the shoulder. I put my head down and started reading and I was shocked to see four inches drop into my magazine. I said, wow, that’s a lot shorter than just above the shoulder. That length is really more chin-​level, but I guess there’s nothing we can do about it now. She promised I would love my cut. In the end, I didn’t. It was a good idea but not well executed.
During my cut, the owner, Mahin, was giving Kate some instruction about cutting my hair. I showed Mahin that the one side was not even. She proceeded to lecture me about how she has been cutting hair for 25 years and it’s her role to educate people about hair. She said hair is really about balance. (Well, my point was that my haircut was not balanced! It was crooked.)
Kate was nice. The hair cut was not the greatest, but it was also pretty inexpensive. Mahin, however, was rude and condescending. I will never go back.
