Massage Envy – Paramus

I just got over a cold which left my body in a complete pain. I was very excited to get the full body one hour massage. My appointment was at 12:00pm, I got there around 12:03pm. After coming in I was told that since I was early there were a few surveys I could fill out in the mean time. After finishing them all and getting into the room it was already 12:20pm. The entire time I received the massage the masseuse was watching the clock. At 12:55pm she said the massage was over. I didn’t feel like arguing so I headed out to pay, this was the part I was told I had to pay 20 – 30 dollars in gratuity. HAD TO! Not recommended but forced to, which no one told me before I went in to my massage. The only reason I gave one star was because the massage itself was alright. WILL NOT BE COMING BACK!

Add me to the list of dissatisfied customers here. I booked my first facial a week in advance, I needed it for a special event that evening. When I showed up that morning and met the technician, she told me that since I had a laser treatment within 6 months, I would not be able to get a facial. I told her it was a laser with no downtime, and she said she’d have to speak to her boss. She came right back and said no again. I then asked to speak to the manager and waited for 10 minutes while he chatted on the phone before I left in disgust. I asked reception why no one mentioned anything when I booked my facial and they said it’s the facialists’ job to ask all questions and then decide if they will perform the service or not. What a ridiculous policy, not to mention extremely inconsiderate to the customers’ whose time is wasted.
I’m not sure what universe these people live on, but if doctors instruct patients they can work out 6 weeks after getting a mastectomy it makes no sense that you can’t get a facial 6 MONTHS after minimal laser treatment. I’ve been getting lasers and facials for years, have never been turned down, and this is definitely the last time I get a facial here. I’m also canceling my massage membership after the completely unprofessional indifferent attitude of everyone there.

The employees at this location in the Bergen mall are beyond rude and unprofessional. Management (Maurice) is a complete joke! This establishment does not cater to pregnant women. I was waiting on hold for over ten minutes to speak with the manager and the same young lady (Caroline) gets back on the phone to repeat exactly what she had said prior. No one has time to waste on these fake «spa’s». I’m canceling my membership immediately and posting my review on every social platform!

I am a monthly member here at massage envy. It isn’t a very great «spa» experience since it is located at the Bergen Towne Center and the waiting room quite busy and not very relaxing. But my massage therapist Julie totally makes up for the lack in the «spa» feel. I have never had a better massage and I have been to plenty spas. I don’t spend extra on the facials or other products, I simply get my 50 minute massage every month. The girls at the front desk are always friendly and helpful– they have never messed up my appointments. I always book when leaving my appointment for the next month. I think the price is a bit high even at the member rate since you are lacking that spa feel with a tranquility room, robe, etc. but the massage is great so makes it worth it!

The one star is for customer service, not massages.
I signed up at another location and was not impressed with the massages. I am very friendly but during my sessions I prefer a lighter, super relaxing massage and no talking. I was never able to get that so I transferred to this location after several months because this was closer anyway. A few times I encountered, not rudeness, but. no attention to details, front desk girls that could not multi-​task. but for the most part the staff got to know me and eventually everything went smoothly. After my year was up they offered me great perks to sign up again so I did. I had my favorite lady masseuse, I tipped her well and she gave the best massages I’ve ever had. Several weeks before the end of that 1 year contract at this location I found out that she would no longer be there and I was highly disappointed but I, of course, wished her well and proceeded to make sure that I used up all of my sessions. I would probably not be coming back since I am extremely picky with the no talking/​light massage rule, so after every session (I had about 3 left) I verified with the front desk the number of sessions remaining and told them that I may not renew. My contract ended and they did not offer to renew my membership but that was fine with me. Come to find out that after my year was over they kept on charging me for «auto renewal» massages every month for three months. so maybe there is a clause about that in the contract but after a year whose going to remember that? They knew I wanted to use up all my sessions by the end of my contract so maybe that’s why they didn’t offer to renew but isn’t that part of their job, to get new memberships? or why didn’t they tell me again about the auto renewals? and they didn’t tell me to cancel it 30 days prior because of COURSE THAT WOULD NOT BENEFIT THEM !! because they are in the business of taking your money not saving your money. when I explained to the manager that not one person offered to renew or cancel my membership knowing that my contract was over she said nothing, except that I would have some extra time to use the sessions that they had charged me for (4 months) because of course I had to endure the 30 day rule which means being charged for the last session before my contract was officially canceled. I told her I will cancel, and use my sessions before the time is up but the way customers are treated is uncalled for and that will lead me to never sign up again. I don’t even care if my lady masseuse comes back. It’s not worth the aggravation or my hard earned money. $ 64 or more depending on any extras, like aromatherapy, facials, etc and a very generous tip every month… I think I’ll find a new place that is not called Massage Envy. Their policies suck and so do the managers and owners for establishing these fraudulent tactics.

This review is not for the massage itself however I am only giving 1 star because I can’t give 0 in regards to the terrible customer service. I was one of 2 maid of honors for my best friends wedding and she graciously was surprising both of us with 90 minute massages 2 days before the wedding as a thank you. The bride is a long time member of massage envy and she and her fiancé (now husband) frequent this location often. Upon making the 3 appointments she had explained she was surprising us and although they had noted the account one of us were called to move our appointment to a different time, the appointment that we were not aware of. Good Job blowing the surprise massage envy.
The bride had called and complained regarding this and all that was offered was an apology. Upon arriving we were greeted nice enough although this location (which I have never been too prior) is missing the tranquility of the other massage envy locations I used to frequent. This place is very cold and business like. There is a lot of hustle and bustle in the crowded waiting area and definitely is not a relaxing way to start a massage. Much more concerned with the paperwork no doubt to prepare their sales at the end. (We weren’t offered the sales pitch due to the brides fiasco prior to her massage long after we were called in).
The two of us that were supposed to be surprised were called in first. Again my massage was ok. The therapist spoke the entire time. I went along with it but again not super relaxing. When we were done we waited a while for the bride… why? All 3 of us had the same appointment time. She made her appointment with a specific massage therapist and they didn’t keep her appointment with that therapist and didn’t tell her. Overall extremely disappointing and we are 4 people who will not be back to the chaos that this location offered. And parking is a nightmare. I will be sure to advise everyone to go to a better location or better yet seek out one of the newer massage places as I am sure they will be doing a much better job than this.

We recently had made an appointment for a one hour massage session for me and my wife 4 days ahead. I called to confirm 2 hours before. The girls upfront couldn’t find our appointment. Then they told us the manager had cancelled our appointment because the girl who made our appointmet didn’t take a credit card from us. This place is very poorly managed. The girls upfront sound very fake and unskilled.

This place rocks! The girls at the front desk are very pleasant and are on the ball. I’ve been coming here for 4 yrs now so needless to say I love their service. Janine is the therapist I go to and she’s awesome! I’ve brought my sis and mom here and they’ve said she’s good as well. She listens to me about my aches and trigger point areas and always has me feeling refreshed and ache free after my hr session! I can’t say enough great things about them. Just schedule a massage and you’ll understand :)

Poorly managed. The last time I went the therapist didn’t show up for work. This time they were closed. Doors locked. Someone called to confirm yesterday and did not call today saying they would not be open nor was their outgoing message changed to reflect that they were closed due to 4 inches of snow that stopped over 12 hours ago. I can’t even use up my stored sessions to get out of this trap!!!

I Love this place! I’ve had amazing massages by Lauren, Renee, & Lucille that made me feel amazing!!! My daughter swears by Darryl! My facials have been outstanding too. I do Not have one complaint!!!

I am a spa lover who loves to visit luxury spas around the world. I’ve been to three Mandarin Oriental Spa in Hong Kong, New York and Paris as well as other fine establishments. I went to Massage Envy Spa with a friend who’s been a member for three years. She swore that the therapist at Massage Envy Paramus would be just as good if not better than any other luxury spa therapists. I was so surprised to find out that she was absolutely right. This is not a luxury spa if you are looking for the robe, tea and bubbles. If you are looking for quality therapeutic massage, this is the place. I dare say the massage itself was better than any I’ve ever had. Of course I joined and can’t wait for my weekly massages.

My regular massage therapist for years finally left :-(so I have been going to Jeannine for a while now. She is really good. I have also been trying out facials here over the last year, $ 10 surcharge to your monthly fee… have had Cindy, Nicole, Agatha… all good & professional. No issues.

Be very careful with this place. They make you sign a 1 year commitment. Read everything very carefully because the staff will give you conflicting information.

This review is for Carolina! She is such a great masseuse! She’s really great and has a lot of power so she can really get those knots out! She’s very friendly; always checking to see if the pressure is good or if the bed is too cold. Whenever I come out from a session with her, my body feels so light and stress-​free. It’s so hard getting an appointment with her so you have to ask for her about 3 weeks before your desired date. BEST! Customer service isn’t that great here though. That’s the only downfall I have so far.

Was there again last night– (had to kill my gift card) my massage was excellent but the girls at the desk were so out of it they had no idea how to help me, they were confused for some reason, and i had to fill put a new chart? (Maybe punishment for not being a «member») anyway the worst part was when I left a somewhat attractive guy was checking out, after he left the girl that was helping me stopped what she was doing to whisper in her co workers ear that he was cute to which the other girl giggled and squealed like a school girl bc she was embarrassed and they loudly carried on about it in front of me and a few other clients. I know people like to goof off and blow off steam at work but it was so busy with people checking
In and out it just wasn’t the right time. I found it childish and unprofessional. They could have done that later after the 4 – 5 people were done checking out. Oh while I was checking out they lost my file and the girl at the desk had to be reminded like 3 times of who I was. Not the type of place I want to spend my hard earned money in! I was so happy to finally leave there after a 15 min check out ordeal knowing I will never be back.

this location is a DISAPPOINTMENT. Staff is rude and in my opinion the people who answered the pone lacked the knowledge of their own services/​packages or did not want to go into details. After several failed attempts at making appointments, I went to Englewood!
ENGLEWOOD is a little bit further but but SO WORTH it. Staff (front) and the masseuse’s are GREAT, facility is spotless and overall a great experience!

The service at this place is horrible and unprofessional. Go at your own risk from being canceled at the last minute, therapist came one hour late and rude front desk!
10 min b4 my appointment the front desk told me therapist is caught in traffic, asked me to reschedule for 1 hr later, what the hell. Do they think there’s a reason for making appointment?! The therapist name is Angela, I don’t know if this is real traffic or she just one unprofessional worker.
lets see how Maria, the mgr will handle this case next week, as she’s supposed to call me and credit my account. I never had such a terrible experience from what is supposed to be a relaxing trip, a massage!

I love that they are located at the Bergen Town Center! Parking in this mall can be a pain, but anything beats the Plaza. I had a great massage here last week! My massage therapist seriously reduced the tension in my back and eased the pain in my shoulders. I’m still feeling the affects a week later. Don’t bother with that biofreeze stuff. It just made me really cold.
If only I could afford a membership here…

After getting a couple of facials elsewhere since this review, I had to write an update…
As it turns out, Massage Envy is –not– a good place to get a deep cleansing facial. Cindy did perform some extractions, but nowhere to the level or intensity one should be getting from a thorough facial. I went to a private esthetician after going to massage envy and she noted that Massage Envy only performed a very superficial extraction on my nose and cheeks. This private esthetician spent double the time on extractions and said that because that’s where most of the work/​time is, places like Massage Envy don’t and won’t spend time completing the extractions one actually needs to get out the blackheads and oil under the service.
Since my facial with the private esthetician, my face looks and feels a lot better than it did from my time at Massage Envy.
Sorry, Massage Envy… but I think I’ll take my money elsewhere.

New to massage therapy but wanted to get a Swedish massage. My therapist name was Kerry. The please was very clean and very organized. Kerry says after our consultation to strip down to what you’re comfortable with in lay on the bed. So with only underwear one I was on the table and she walked in and gasped. Then she said oh I’m sorry please get under the cover. That whole thing that made me very uncomfortable. With nothing to compare the whole experience to I am not a fan of massage therapy. Would have much rather spend that $ 100 next door shoe shopping. Would not be returning there at all, I am going to assume the actual massage was done properly it was a bit relaxing but there were no Zen after effects. appreciated the gift now on to the next one !!! As always you should try for your self who knows you may actually love it
