Ski Barn

I’ve been going here since I was a little kid. Used to do seasonal rentals back in the day. Need anything for skiing? This was the place. Now as a grown-​up, I can see it carries the most expensive things in the industry that’s already expensive. I went in hoping to spend $ 250 on a pair of Jr. ski boots (I have small feet) but the guy wouldn’t bring me any, just forced me to try on the best they had in my size. Unfortunately, I fell in love with some beautiful, comfortable (like your foot melts into the boot) boots that will last for a long time but spent $ 600 on those, a helmet (it’s extremely cute) and goggles. Oops! This place sucks you in. Prepare to spend a chunk of money you don’t want to spend. The customer service was great, which you’re probably also paying for. I do miss Princeton Ski Shop, for us common folks. 10 years ago, I got skis/​boots/​poles for $ 600.

I had a great experience buying a new pair of snowboarding boots. James did an amazing job in making sure I went home with the right boots. He is clearly an expert in his field and enjoys what he does!

Rude staff. Not helpful and pushes you to shop at other places like saying to get out. Stares at you and waits impatiently for you to buy something already and follows my friends around like they were suspects to shoplifting. Funky stench upon entering the store. Not much selection. I have never been treated so rudely by staff at a store before. I was trying on gloves that could fit over my wrist guards. Of course I had to try them on and as a customer, no matter how long you take to decide on a product it is still your right to be respected by the staff. Gloves were left in good shape and never damaged when being tried on so I don’t see the problem there. Staff comes over multiple times implying why I have not decided yet (buy something already?), pushes me to try on gloves which I already did and says she will help me decide which I did not need any assistance and clearly just need time to decide on my own. Says that these are the only ones they have on stock and maybe I could try to shop at campmor next door or some other place. Maybe I should have done so in the first place! Not coming back here ever again.

Poor customer service. Staff was unwelcoming. One staff member pestered us while a friend was choosing gloves that fitted her the best. She rushed us to make a decision. Three staff members kept an eye on us for I don’t know what reason, while were looking through their apparel. We were singled out among all the other customers. It felt like we were being profiled. Vibe was weird, staff was weird. Would not recommend going here.

This is a great store with great employees. I had a terrible time trying to find ski boots that would fit my wider than normal feet. Tom and his fellow coworkers in the boot area spent a great deal of time helping me find a great pair though. Not only that but, he then worked on them until they fit me perfectly. He really spent hours with me. If you don’t think you will ever enjoy skiing because the boots are too uncomfortable go find Tom.

Got an email that SkiBarn is having a huge sale on all outer wear 50% off… reality …I get there and there are 3 racks of couple season old jackets that are 20% off… RIP OFF… BAIT AND SWITCH !!!

Went in looking for lift ticket deals and they had them! Awesome lift ticket deal for Windham and super quick and friendly! Prices looked pretty good on stuff as well but I went in with a mission for a lift ticket deal and left happy!

Great store here in paramus area but the STAFFS ARE VERY RUDE specifically the Staffs in the Snowboard Section! this must be the 3^rd time we went to the store to look for some good snowboard gears & since we are beginners on the sport we are assuming we will atleast get a decent good costumer service. But we ended up on this guy who we kindly asked for a size 7 men snowboard boots & sadly we ran out of size 7 sizes. The guy said he got 7.5 instead & higher. We kindly asked him if we can try on the size 7.5 boots just to feel the size difference. He was forcing us not to «try on» & not «to buy» the boots because «we will ended up not liking it» & in the middle of it all he was trying on his new pair of snowboard boots while talking to us. He was more busy trying on his «own boots» than doing his job right!

So I visited the Ski Barn again after buying my skis down the street, but to their advantage they have a huge selection of ski poles. it is there that I had a different experience than my last visit. The gentleman that assisted me was very kind in being understanding and allowing me to buy what I needed without focus on making me buy what I didn’t. He also gave me an cute ski band. I definitely will come again!

I have been to all four Ski Barns. They all are great. Great selection. Top merchandise. I am new to the sport — everyone has been super helpful. To tell you the truth, it’s the type of place I’d like to work. I live closest to the Paramus store and sometimes I just go there when I have questions about skiing. They know everything and everyone. Have only the best things to say about Ski Barn ****** (six stars)!

The Ski Barn staff can deal with close to, if not all problems that may arise in the store. They cater to all levels of skiing, snowboarding, fashion, and just plain winter fun. Albeit winter sport prices are expensive Ski Barn does its best to make it as affordable and achievable as possible, specifically during their end of the season deals. All the employees help out customers not only for the sake of the sale but also to cater to what they truly need. All of the staff seems to have tons of experience on the mountain and know what they are talking about. Also their summer outdoor furniture deals are not to be overlooked. All year round Ski Barn is the place for designer products that are not distributed through major retailers like Dick’s sporting goods, REI, and sports authority.

They have a great selection of merchandise all year round, but I must say the staff is only great half the time, which is why they don’t get 5 stars from me. Half the time I go in there I am helped by someone really nice and knowledgeable, and the other half of the time I am helped by someone who is rude and brushes me off. I was about to make a purchase of almost $ 600, but decided to leave the store and order the item online because I was turned off by the people working there.

Went there on a busy January Saturday afternoon with wife and kids. My wife buys a pair of ski boots (the guy for the ski boots was good) as well as some accessories, I go for the seasonal rentals for my kids… it takes some time. trying on ski boots .and finally they tell me they have no skis but will get some from another shop by Tuesday. had filled all forms along with phone number… They did not charge me anything for the rental at this point though… following week, no phone call, went back following Saturday a useless call as they could hardly find my name in their files, once there, they could not find our paper work, figured they did write my phone # incorrectly… anyway after another 30 mins of filling paper work again, kids trying on ski boots again… go to the cashier to pay and then I learn they do not rent ski poles which you have to buy … No one advised me during all the time we had spent in that store and to be frank first place ever I see that rent skis without poles. Decided to ask for a full refund of the rental and leave that store,…this is what I call forced sales and zero star customer service. WILL NOT GO BACK… GO ELSE WHERE FOR RENTALS

Ski Barn rules. It is an enormous store on Route 17 and they carry everything you could possibly need for skiing and snowboarding. I wanted to score a new ski jacket whilst benefiting from end of season sales and mom also wanted to buy me a helmet for my birthday (gee thanks Maaaaaaa) so we headed over to Ski Barn!
We walked in and immediately were greeted by a super friendly blonde sales woman. I told her that I am looking for a new ski jacket that is warm and that I currently owned a down Special Blend jacket in a minty green, but was looking for something a little less Barbie and more grown up (yeaaaaah I’m tired of looking like Ski Barbie). I noticed an awesome black North Face jacket with a cute furry hood (OK, so maybe a little Barbie still, but sleeker), however, they only had a Small or a Large, which did not do me any good seeing as I wear a Medium! The woman called a few stores in the area and luckily in another store somewhere in Jersey there was a size Medium they could ship to the Paramus location. Score! Thank you for your assistance lovely blonde lady!
Now, to the back where the helmets are located. My mom has been bugging me for years to get a helmet and last season my best friend got into a bad snowboarding accident where she was luckily wearing a helmet (and even still had a concussion) so my mom basically strong armed me into her purchasing this as a gift to me. I guess life is a wonderful gift? The man in the back was cool when I told him I want a helmet that keeps my head warm. He picked one out that had vents, adjustable back and earphone plugs and I was on my merry way.
Since it was the end of the season their inventory was kind of low, so there were no mittens that I liked. I wanted snowboarding mittens in black but they only had ski ones left in a Medium. Always next time!

Bought a pair of snowboard boots there and the sales rep was disinterested and flat out rude when I started asking him a few questions. He was making a big deal about trying out multiple pairs of snowboard boots and was a general pain in the ass the entire time.
last time I go to ski barn EVER.

Went late in the season to get snowboarding pants. Selection wasnt great, but that is my fauly for waiting so long. The motivating reason to write this review is that there was a woman (dont know her name) that was super helpful and did everything she could to help. That kind of service is what brick and mortar stores need to stay in business.

Security alarms went off as I entered this barn. I was instantly a suspect and I had half a foot in the place!
Prices of everything were full blown retail, nothing really on sale, and not much selection to begin with.
Funky smells everywhere.
The kicker, was when I walked in the snowboard section, I wasn’t greeted with one hello or can I help you by any of the employees standing around.

Skiing is not cheap. Ski Barn at least embraces that and looks to give you value where they can. The end of season and start of season sales are very good, and the season rentals are fair. The service here is what really stands out, the ski staff is professional and well trained. Their boot fitters will go to the end of the earth to get it just right for you.

I’ve visited many ski shops searching for the perfect snowboard to purchase for the upcoming season.
My first board was not good from the start and I had a terrible learning experience with it. I rode it out for 3 years now, learning all the necessary techniques improperly. Naturally, I seeked for an improvement that would blow me away and would hopefully correct my riding.
The service in this ski shop is beyond amazing. The staff truly want to help and do not just want to make sales. They discussed the advantages of certain boards over others through their own experiences and trials, being frequent boarders themselves who purchase several boards each year. I was originally going to purchase a board over $ 500 due to 5 star reviews online, but the staff helped me narrow down to a choice that was not only cheaper but fit closer to my riding style and what I was searching for.
It’s too bad I don’t live close to this ski shop because the next time I buy a board or a friend needs to buy a new board, I would definitely come back.
