It’s like ‘Cheers’ for me. Nick, the man behind the bar, always has a smile, and plays great music. There is always someone I know or I meet someone new. It’s a great place to start the weekend in Parkville!

In a town surprisingly lacking in drinking options, this American Legion serves as the de facto neighborhood watering hole and proudly advertises itself as open to the general public.(Though most Legion bars are.) The bar is in the bar back, in a separate room behind the meeting all, but it’s also accessible directly from a side entrance.(Back behind the far right end of the American Flag painted on the side of the building.) Because this is technically a private club it is exempt from the Parkville smoking ordinance — assuming they haven’t changed the ordinance since my last visit. Like any true neighborhood dive it’s a very friendly and welcoming place. The menu looks tasty but I haven’t tried the food yet. The bar is open 7 days a week. Breakfast is served on Sunday mornings, and various food and drink specials rotate throughout the week. There’s also a bingo night, an open mic night, and other entertainment.
