Business Owner

Michelle A. Tyson, MD is the Medical Director of Crown City Medical Group.

Dr. Tyson has an extensive history in the healthcare field. She joined CCMG in 2001, and has spent the last 11 years dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of life for patients in the Los Angeles/​San Gabriel Valley.

Additionally, she is a professor at the Assistant Clinical Facility for USC P.A. Program, and is affiliated with Huntington Memorial Hospital. She has expressed her interest on various medical issues that range from, «Impacting Healthcare through Media,» «Pediatrics through Geriatrics,» «Women’s Health Issues,» and «Exercise and Fitness.» Dr. Tyson is also a staunch advocate of public service, having been involved in the National Youth Sports Program and Community Outreach.

Dr. Tyson obtained her medical degree at the University Of Southern California Keck School Of Medicine, Los Angeles, CA. She is a board-​certified physician.

This is the worst Dr. Office ever, this place actually kept me away from seeing the Dr as much as I should have cause it’s a nightmare just to visit the office, it is extremely filthy and doesn’t even have a clean smell, the staff is rude and very unconcerned, you see a different Dr every visit and they do a half ass job, this is more like a clinic, they hardly answer the phones and are not very accommodating with appts. I finally switched and am so relieved that I was able to find a better Dr and no longer have to live that nightmare

Horrible staff. I’ve never even met my primary Doctor, Dr. Tyson. She’s been my primary for 5 years you’d think I’d at least get to meet her. Nope. And the receptionists are always rude. They hardly pick up the phone and it’s pointless to leave a message because they don’t ever call you back. Some of the nurses are nice but a lot of the doctors don’t seem to know much. I was sick for 3 months then and the doctor performed the same 3 tests on me and then wrote me a referral for a specialist that 2 months to finally come in and then they sent me to the wrong specialist 2x! Completely wasted my time and endangered my life because the diagnosis was not a positive one. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They don’t seem to care about their patients there. I’m sure any good doctors they had have fled that place because they probably treat their staff just as awful as they treat their patients. And apparently that seems to run in the family because the vet clinic next door is owned by the doctors sister and that’s just as terrible… But that’s a review for a different page.

Absolutely awful. I tried calling 5 times before even getting through to someone and when I did they gave me attitude and acted like all of my questions were stupid. I HIGHLY recommend finding other doctors in the area.

Don’t bother wasting your time and energy here. The Drs. and staff here are incompetent. Nora Davidian clearly unqualified for her job.
I’ve been sick 6 months now because of her lack of knowledge. They send their referrals by mail, who still does that? They forget to clear my referrals every single time. I have to call them up chasing them down. Then they forget to send them out, again. When you’re sick with an unknown autoimmune disease, time is valuable. This Dr’s office is a waste of time and a joke.
When I finally convince them to send me to and endocrinologist, they find another simple infection that my body can’t fight, pull my referrals and concentrate on treating that first, while I get sicker and lose even more weight. Standard test results come back negative, so they try to send me on my way, instructing me to come back in 6 weeks, but I still feel the same. I’ve had to quit my job over this unknown illness. My life is falling apart and they don’t seem to want to help me.
Finally I get my Endo appointment after 6 months of them treating other simple illnesses, and believing that their decisions were in my best interest, which they are not. It took 3 weeks of waiting and calling and them forgetting to clear and/​or send it to be able to get my that Endo appointment.
The other Dr’s are rude and cold. The staff are just as rude and incompetent. Their phone system takes too long and they always forget about me while on hold. I just get transferred to different voice mails. Getting my refills are a major hassle. My pharmacy can’t even get through to someone.
This is the worst medical group I’ve ever been to. Stay clear of this place.

Do not waste your time. I had to switch health plans due to job change. My new health plan did not have my old PCP in the group so i picked this place its close to home. I called the wrong location. I called El Monte location as that’s the number that was given to me. My old clinic has one central call center that will make appointment at any location. After 45 min on hold the person picks up the phone and asked me my name then she said hold on just one second (i did not even give my full name yet). She starts speaking to someone else in Spanish they talked over 3 min then she came back to me and I gave my name over again. Before i was able to spell my last name she starts speaking in Spanish again to a different person. This time I spoke up before long and she put me on hold so i could not hear her personal conversation. HOW STINKING RUDE. That should have been a clue. Well she comes back on and this time she was just took my info. She said you know you are closer to the Pasadena location. WTF I was on the phone for over an hour and a half to be told you cant make an appointment for another location.
I called the Pasadena location (walking distance to my house) and was on hold for more than 30min this time. The lady I spoke to was reasonably not rude but not nice… The first appointment she offered me was an 11 am. I tried to explain I cant do afternoon appointments as i work the later shift at my job noon to 9pm Monday thru Friday. She said hold on and i waited for 17 more min. She came back and offered me an 11:30 appointment. Ummmm what I again said I can only do 9 am or before appointments. She said the first appointment she could get was in late September. :(

I’m only giving it a one start because I don’t think I have an option of putting zero. But this place is the worst medical center you can attend!
To begin with, when you want to make an appointment, you better remain sick for a while because they can only schedule you for about a month later…
When you get there, all the nurses seem so uptight and rude (Natalie) (very unprofessional).
Making it a very awkward experience… on top of feeling sick and exhausted already…
Now…the so called «doctors»… Doctor Nora I want to say, this women will just stare at you while you talk and not really listen to a thing you say, she’s always in a rush, and if you ask her anything else regarding your health she instantly tells you «you didn’t come in for that you’ll have to come in another day for that». If I’m her patient and I’m already there shouldn’t she hear all my concerns why am I limited to one complain and have to leave and come back to keep talking? She /​I guess all the doctor there, will never call you and give you your results. They will send you a letter about 3 weeks later scarring you to come in, to tell you that everything is «ok» but of course, they made money brining another patient in so good for them. dr. Evan finestine or whatever his name happens to be, he’s more patient but you can be dying in a coma and according to him your gonna be okay, you get NO medicine, NOTHING. He checked me for an infection, he said he would have the results the next day, two weeks and haven’t heard from him or his unprofessional nurses.
I leave voicemails, call and call to know what my results were, and NOTHING, no call backs. It’s like they don’t take you serious at all. Point being, if your not feeling well, go somewhere else, the emergency, or stay home and die because this place is trash.

Unfortunately I looked on the Anthem Blue Cross website for this place, I wish I had looked here first! I agree with all of the bad reviews. Granted, I have not had a problem with the Doctors.
My issue is with the horrible receptionist staff. I’ve had a long lasting cold/​virus for over three months because when I called in October, the earliest appointment they had was for mid-​December. So I waited two months for medical care, and I’m still sick. I called on the date of my appointment to confirm the time. Then when I went to check-​in, they said that I was late! I told them that I confirmed the time and was given incorrect information. I was turned away nonetheless and given an appointment for next month!!! The front desk staff is a joke! I’ll be contacting my insurance to change my doctor as well.

Cliff notes: You’ve read the reviews on here for this place. You think, «How can it be so low? Maybe I’ll give it a try, my experience will be different.»
STAY AWAY. I called
PROS: I googled them and they have a phone number in place, that’s actually good some places don’t even have that.
CONS: The phone number is useless, in fact speaking to 3 people there over the phone was useless. Not helpful and when they asked for my date of birth the reply was «I wasn’t in the system.»
But you didn’t even ask for my name…
OPINION: I didn’t think it was possible to have worse customer service in a medical office. I was wrong. Ouch.
SUGGESTIONS: This is a business that is supposed to be of service to the public, remember that. I would suggest some training to the employees, they were very rude and cut me off, transferring me to who knows where — and no one picks up. I personally know nothing of the front office folks (assuming they were the ones that picked up), but holy crap the experience was worst than the DMV.

I wish I could give them a zero because that is what they deserve. The doctors are a joke they don’t even know how use the computers in the exam rooms. They don’t know the names of well know medications. I needed refills on my prescriptions and they want you to come in and sit they in the nasty dirty office forever just to give the prescription that you have been taking for years. They don’t even know how to do a routine physical. Take the advice of others and do not go to Crown City Medical Group.

Can I give zero stars?
The receptionist was so rude. They take cash only for the co-​pay. I’m pretty sure the receptionist said the doctor would only see me if I paid the co-​pay first, and I did not have cash on me. She said I could make another appointment if I didn’t have the co-​pay. It would have been helpful if they had told me this at the time of the appointment. I had plenty of time to get the cash though since I had to wait 40 minutes to see a doctor.
The place is kind of grungy. The doctor himself was nice. I can’t remember his name though. I will be returning to get my lab results, but I’m certainly not returning here for any further physicals. It’s nearly impossible to get an appointment with long hold times and receptionists who make it clear you are not their priority at work.
I have Covered California insurance, so I will likely be going to Kaiser once open enrollment takes place this year. This was a disaster.
Update:
I returned after I followed up on blood work. The woman working in records said I had to make an appointment to talk to the doctor because I had a couple things that were raised. I went in and waited an hour to speak to a doctor to hear I was perfectly healthy. What a waste of time. I will not be returning here.

First I tried calling to set an appointment. Their automated phone answering service was high end enough to tell me how many people were ahead of me waiting to talk to a representative, I was second in line. Then first. Then I got transferred to voicemail. After immediately hanging up I called again, and was fourth in line on the phone. As I live down the street from their location I decided to forego waiting again only to get voicemail and drive up to set an appointment.
All I needed was a TDAP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis). It’s one of the more common vaccines, and the center of a lot of controversy in SoCal with affluent folks thinking they don’t need the vaccine and are finding that their children are getting whooping cough (pertussis). The woman behind the desk didn’t know what TDAP was. Tb, yes, but she had no idea what the TDAP was. After asking another nurse to come out she was able to at least verify she knew what it was, but didn’t think they had it. After going in to the back office to verify she came back to confirm that they do not in fact have this common and necessary vaccine.
I was already going to change my PCP because of the mediocre service this place offered me before when I got a physical, but hadn’t gotten around to it yet. Doing that just as soon as I post this review. If you’re stuck going here, I’m sorry. If you have other options, EXPLORE THEM.

If I could give half a star I would. Switched here because my doctor did. She was amazing but this place is horrible. To begin, the first faces you see are the staff at the front desk. The women working there are very rude, slow and uninterested in actually offering any type of help to patients. They sit and gossip about god knows what, don’t answer ringing blinking phones and are very unfriendly. Good forbid you come in with a real emergency or issue. They pass you around from nurse to nurse before avant signing you in. The waiting room chairs are freaking filthy and old. Although there was only one other person in the waiting room when I arrived it still took 30 mins for them to see me. I was taken back, got my vitals taken and then directed to another room to sit and wait for a PA (since no real doctors are working there at this time…). The PA walked in, meekly shook my hand, took my temp and told me I didn’t have a fever (DUH) and told me a nurse would be in to take a throat swab and send me on my way. Thanks so much Doc! Anyways to sum this all up. The patients that are here are VERY RUDE. The staff here is TERRIBLE/​INCOMPETENT. The PA I saw was MEDIOCRE. The equipment is OLD and DISGUSTING. And if you don’t have a limb falling off etc I would suggest NEVER setting foot in this run down, unfriendly, rude establishment. Start healthy yall.

This place is going to get sued bad one day. So I went to my pharmacy for my anti depressants and the pharmacy told me that they were not going to fill my prescription that I needed to see my doctor for it. Cold turkey on anti depressants many people know causes severe depression and at times suicide. Things I have been having to deal with since they cut me off. Mind you, going there is like a gamble, sometimes you get a doctor that listens to you sometimes you don’t. I have never had the same doctor twice. I am considering legal action against them for their inability to care for a patient and communicate that they were going to remove me from Anti depressants. I was on a low dosage so it didn’t effect me as much, but I can only imagine what it would do to someone else under different circumstances.

Don’t go see Dr. Michelle Tyson. She will shut you up and not take notes and blame everything on you. She may seem pretty and nice but she’s a horrible person and doctor. I was taken into the doctors room and waited for 40 minutes as the staff was outside my room taking pictures together. No joke. Finally the nurse comes in and tells me that they don’t have these charts I requested from my doctor. They just don’t know what happened. This would’ve been nice to know the two weeks in-​between this appointment and the last. Finally Dr. Michelle Tyson comes in and she won’t listen to the concerns I have. She didn’t bring her notes in and apparently she didn’t write anything from the last one because she doesn’t remember why I am there.
Basically I was there for a birth control issue, it would be tedious to explain here but when I tried to explain it to her she would shut me up. She talked over me, she ignored what I said and kept offering to recommend to an OBGYN so she wouldn’t deal with me. When I asked her to please let me explain she said «Ok explain shortly.» I have never been so insulted by a doctor, it was my second visit and Im already running out of the door looking for a new one. She is rude, condescending and she does not care about her patients. You wait over an hour and finally get seen by her and she talks over you, rushing the appointment so you can leave her alone. People like her should not be doctors. So… DO NOT SEE DR. MICHELLE TYSON!!! Please don’t, do yourself a favor. Don’t.

They dont answer the phone, I have been reschedule twice without notification prior to my appointment saying they are booked, and today the doctor is sick and unfortunately they cannot assist me period. If you have a PPO find a different place. It’s a beautiful building but it definitely needs new management! Believe me, the one star that everyone is leaving is for a reason. This is by far the most horrible unprofessional doctors office I have ever been to. I am a nurse, and would never ever think of having patients be treated like this. At the moment I am currently sitting in the waiting room. My appointment was at 11am. I arrived at 1030, and it is now 1230 now. You’d think after 3 years of this, I would have learned my lesson. They said they need to wait for a room to open up … Bullshit. Why schedule more patients than your facility can handle. Whatever you do save yourself and NEVER EVER COME HERE! hopefully I will be seen before these people go to lunch!!!
After finally being called into the room at 1:00pm the doctor finally came in to give my daughter her physical, and spent ohhh say 3 minutes TOTAL with her. Absolute crap.
Save yourself and your kids and find somewhere better to go.
