Not the Dona Rosas we used to love. 1) place looks run down, need up keep. 2) table was dirty, wifey had to grab a towel from inside to wipe down the table out on the patio. No employee even bothered to help. 3) Order was wrong, fine everyone makes mistakes, but then you bring me back the same thing after telling you it’s wrong? 4) asked to have the outside tv changed to channel 11 for a different game, girl comes out try’s to change it, I know there’s a science to change a tv channel right, after standing there for a minute walks away and leaves it on the same channel no explanation or anything. 5) Pozole was just ok, overall sad to see the lack of enthusiasm towards our patronage.

Supposedly this place should be open until midnight. We walked in at 10:50 and were told that we would not be served anymore because there was not enough business going on otherwise anyway. Lack of honest business practices.

Came here for lunch today with my co workers. The place has a pretty large party lot for how small it is inside. I’ve driven past this place many times on my way into work but never gone in. I assumed it was a sit down resturant but was happily surprised it was an order at the counter(much easier for lunch). We got there right At 12 and beat the crowd because the line was pretty long after. Lots of good options for vegetarians! I ordered the grilled shrimp taco plate which came with beans and rice plus a large drink and it was $ 12. Not too bad. They have a nice salsa bar too. The shrimp and seasoning was a bit salty for my taste but overall decent. I’m giving this 3 stars instead of 4 because of the service. I think they need another person or a few people to help out. The lady taking the order was a bit rude and they were also constantly out of chips and had to remind them. I understand it can be tough during busy lunch hour but they should definitely have more help. Overall the food was decent and had a lot of choices, parking was easy and the food came out fairly quickly. It may have just been an off day so I will be back to see.

Check your cheese cakes, mine had mold growing on the strawberries. Crunch tacos are good.

Lovely, affordable Mexican style food. Order and pay at the counter, then food is brought to your table. Delicious, massive burritos with super yummy mojado sauce! Healthy taco salads, too! Great deals on Taco Tuesdays! Friendly staff who patiently answered all of my annoying questions on our first visit! Just a great experience all around. Docked a star because they did mess up my order slightly, but it was still absolutely delicious. Also, when we arrived later in the evening, the tables were a tad dirty and hadn’t been cleared for a while. But I’m sure that’s just because they were getting ready to close. Bonus: Vegetarian refried beans! No lard or pork! Yay! They were very good! Bonus: They open at 7:00 am on weekdays and 6:00 am on weekends! Great breakfast spot before a long day! Can’t wait to go back and try the chile relleno and breakfast options! Tip: Try the gigantic $ 10 Coronita– a huge margarita served with a beer floating inside and garnished with lots of fresh fruit!

Exactly what it claims to be… Went on a tuesday in search of a full bar and some discount tacos in the downtown Pas area… scored with both: decently cheap tacos(1.50 instead of your normal 1) but made up for it with some pretty strong and cheap(4.50 for a large) margaritas… Add some live music from the mariachi band walking from table to table and turned into a great night. extra bonus: private parking lot.

We asked the guy in front what was his favorite dish and he said the plate with a pepper and cheese rice and beans with it. I don’t know what it’s called so in describing it the way it is So I looked up what I had it’s called CHILERELENO ! Their music system broke but it would’ve been awesome to have it playing in the background lol Amazing. Super good will definitely be back And my friend’s steak torta was his favorite thing on earth apparently:)

I’ve been wanting to come to Dona Rosa for a while now since its an El Cholo restaurant. The Spanish rice was excellent. We also had the carne asana burrito and tacos. The flavor was a bit off. Conclusion? The carne was not marinated very well. The meat was sort of dry as well. The shrimp taco was excellent. As for the condiments, the carrots were really soggy but the pico de gallo was good. The servers were very friendly. Overall, not bad at all and we will be back again.

What a surprise! I am a local business owner in the Pasadena area and Dona Rosa was kind enough to stop by today and drop off tacos and chips for my entire staff! They provided a variety of tacos with an assortment of toppings and all of it was so delicious. I am very impressed at the level of generosity and goodwill Dona Rosa has displayed. Not very often do you meet businesses that are willing to go the extra mile with no expectations in return.

This place… THIS place. Have you ever had menudo? No? Yes? If you said yes, you are mistaken unless you’ve had Doña Rosa’s menudo! It’s so fresh and amazing and flavorful! Everyone should have Doña Rosa’s menudo. Did I mention that they are also a panedería? Because they are. They make all of their own breads and make them for other restaurants in the area as well. It’s hard to beat fresh baked. Couple that with low prices, generous hours, and plenty of options to mix and match and you have a winning Mexican food comfort food joint. Hooray Doña Rosas!

This place is amazing. They bake all of their own bread — from sweet breads to torta trappings. It’s all amazing. They also make their own caldos. The menudo here is hands-down the best I’ve ever had.

Never in my life had i been so disappointed with tacos! The overall place is very nice, the decoration and the chalkboard menu looks hipster enough to gain a crowd. The bread in its display case looked amazing but it lacked the one thing a restaurant should always have: flavor. The tacos on taco Tuesday are 1.25. There is asada, chicken, pastor, and one that i don’t remember. You pay inside and then walk back outside to have them served. I didn’t understand the point of that. The salsa bar ill admit was cool looking. The tacos overall are served very well, you get the amount of meat you should be receiving when tacos are 1.25(kind of expensive) and are given with two tortillas. There was only one problem, it was so bland I didn’t know if i was eating meat or just a plain tortilla! It was so disappointing considering it looks so good. This place would be great if the meat had the proper flavor.

Been living in Pasadena for about a year and a half, been seeing their taco tuesday sign every day, finally made it in now that we’re about to move back down to SD. Taco Tuesday was a success! Every Tuesday and Friday, it’s Taco Tuesday all day, $ 1 for either carne asada, chicken, or carnitas. You order at the front register first and just tell them how many of each type of taco you want. They print out a ticket for you after you pay that you then hand over to their handy dandy worker that’s outside where he makes the tacos for you and gives it to you. They have a sauce bar outside as well as inside– they say it’s the same but some of it is not. I actually ended up only like the carne asada, carnitas was too dry and same with chicken. It’s not your typical happy hour taco tuesday type of place where everyone’s drunk and stuff, which I actually liked for a change, I just wanted some street tacos, and here it is being served in a restaurant. :) I’m just sad that I didn’t come earlier!

So finally I came here last night after wanting to for a while. I got tacos since they have them for $ 1 on Tuesday and an horchata. They were eehhh ok and the drink was also just ok. Tacos were bland and just not good. My bf got the carnitas tacos and he as well ageed that they sucked! We wont be coming back. We will just stick to our favorite taco place; king taco. Gotemmmm!

Their tacos and burritos are really good! Come on Tues and Friday cause their tacos are priced for a dollar. The staff friendly and the food doesn’t take that long. Prices are reasonable. I just gave four stars cause the place is a bit small and I wish they’d have more seats inside. I will try out their pastries soon! I heard they have good stuff coming out of their bakery

I’ve been here three times, two for breakfast one for lunch. The breakfast was very good! But when I tried the lunch well it was BAD! It was a party of four and all of us were disappointed with our food. I had the Steak burrito and it had no flavor. The soups that my other party had had no flavor as well. It seemed like they added water to the soup because it didn’t taste like anything. One was menudo and the other soup was cocido. The good thing was the café de olla. Very delicious! I’m giving them two stars because of the coffee and eggs with chorizo but that’s all that I liked. Not the greatest Mexican restaurant.

Cutting to the chase: The best thing here is the torta, any torta, torta torta torta. The bread is baked in-house, they use high quality fresh cheese, and the guacamole is on point. If you’ve built up an appetite, the torta Cubana has three grilled meats in it and will surely put up a fight. Next, are the molletes. The bolillo(bread) has that perfect crispy texture with a soft and warm inside, the beans are a flavorful with minimal grease, and once again the cheese is just fine quality in my opinion. The margaritas are strong. If you’re feeling goofy or you’ve had a long day, treat yourself to one of their Coronaritas, you deserve it.(And then maybe call an Über) The tacos are great, but make sure you get them on a Tuesday or Friday night for $ 1 each, they’ll taste even better than the $ 2.50 ones. Be careful when ordering chilaquiles or other inherently spicy plates, as they tend to make these plates too hot for proper taste(and I can climb high on the spicy scale). My favorite thing about this place is when they hire Mariachis(I believe also Tuesday and Friday nights) to come in and play and the place gets packed and people request songs and sing and everyone has a good time. Ay ay ay ay, canta y no llores! I’ve been coming here for the past six years now and, while the quality of the food and portions hasn’t changed much, the prices have steadily increased at rates more aggressive than neighboring Mexican cuisine competitors. It’s a cleaner and nicer atmosphere than other places for sure, which makes it the place of choice when a visiting friend/relative is craving Mexican food, but when I’m on my own, I stick to the better valued holes-in-the-wall tucked up my sleeve.

Came here on a whim to celebrate a friend’s good news and so happy that their happy hour for taco Tuesday was fantastic and not crappy like only chicken tacos on special. Their happy hour was from 7pm to 10pm –which is ahhhhhhhhhhfuhreakinmazing since most happy hours end at 7. Those of us who don’t have the luxury to leave work early can’t seem to make it to happy hours with crazy LA traffic. The three types of tacos offered for the low price of $ 1 each: chicken, carnitas, and asada. Can’t really beat that! That’s better than the truck prices buddy! Aaand you even get to sit down inside the lightly air conditioned room. Last, I’d like to point out that they have their own huge parking lot.

I’m the duchess & I haven’t written a review yet? Shame on me… This is my taco place of choice when I’m at work since it’s close by. It’s not super authentico or anything but the thing I really like about it is the quality of meat. I don’t feel sick afterwards and the tacos are a very good size. I also really love the salsa. 2 things I judge my tacos places on are meat & salsa and they win in both. They also have a lot of other options aside from tacos. I personally like their tortilla soup(but I hate the chicken they use in it. Would be much better if it was shredded chicken). They used to do taco Tuesday & Friday’s, complete with a mariachi band and drink specials. Not sure if that’s going on still but I feel like they brought it back recently. I watched Obama get elected(1st term) here so I’ll always have a soft spot for this place. Love or hate it, it was history…
