Island Tire & Service

Came to alignment here today. It was quick and not expensive. There was no issue with alignment but some minor issue with bearing. They made corrections and it was quick. It is better to come in the morning when they open to get faster service plus wait is shorter.

Andrew at Island Tires is always professional and courteous! He is my go to guy when it comes to replacing my tires on my rare set of forged wheels. I’m always concerned taking it to some shop that wouldn’t understand why care is needed. Also, he takes his time when mounting the tires to not damage or scratch the wheels, and when he has them balanced on his Hunter 9700 tire balancing machine, he does his best to get balanced below 10 lbs.

Went in and spoke to Andrew (owner) to set me up with a couple of tires for my car. He suggested a brand and told me they would be in tomorrow morning. I came in on Thursday @ 2pm to have the tires installed. Unfortunately, Andrew was off that day and I got a guy named Nick. Nick pulled out all the paperwork for me to sign and let me know that It would take app 1 – 1.5 hours for the job. After waiting for 1 hours I was then told that they did not have the tires to do the job. WOW! I had to wait an hour before being told they never had them. Very, Very, poor service. Nick did say that they could get them in by 9:30 am the next day. I have given these guys alot of business these last few years with our family and business vehicles. Well, that’s how you lose customer business. Hopefully, you will have a better experience and make sure you see the tire before you wait and hour…

About the same speed of service as America’s Tire, though not as aggressively-​friendly (which might be a good thing). Chose this shop over others in the area because they seemed relaxed yet professional enough where you could trust them with your installation. In other words, it’s not the usual cigarette-​smoking-​no-​English-​speaking-​uncle-​or-​something-​like-​that working in the back. Not sure what their prices are like on parts (I bring my own tires), but their labor costs were on par with most other shops.

I came here for 4 new tires on my leased car. I looked on Tire Rack and actually found this place as a top rated installer on Tire Rack. I decided to call about the Continental True Contact tires I was going to order online and they beat the price Tire Rack had on the same tires. They stock all the big brands of tires like Michelin, Toyo, Firestone and can order tires as well. I came in on a Wednesday mid day and I knew I was in good hands with all the car memorabilia and they are very knowledgeable on tires. They got me all squared away and taken care of under an hour an half. I will come back, great local shop!

This place is great! They are so helpful, pleasant, and affordable! Definitely coming back here in the future.

Just came here to get a tire fixed for a friend and Joe came right out and said he’ll get it done in 30 and he did!
Awesome looking shop (if you’re into islands and cars). Great customer service and the mechanics wear sponsors stickers which is awesome. I recommend this place.

Island Tire is my go-​to place for basic auto services like oil changes or tire replacements. I’ve been coming here ever since I moved here four years ago. Their prices are the lowest that I’ve seen in the area and their customer service is exceptional. They welcome walk-in’s and never turn anyone away. They also provide free tire rotation with every service. They can get a little backed up on Saturday mornings, but if you come in on a weekday, you should be in and out in no time. An added bonus is that they have one of the best waiting areas of any auto repair shop. They have coffee, water, snacks, fun car-​themed décor, television, clean restrooms, and fast wifi.

From out of town driving on the 210 Fwy and got a nail in our tire. Called to get our tire repair and received fast & friendly service. Conveniently close to the freeway and on the direction we were going. Made a traffic filled commute less stressful with baby and dog with us.

I don’t do a lot of reviews, but I have to say that this place has great service. Long story short, my coworker recommended this place. He saw it had good reviews on Unilocal and felt it was worth a try. He had nothing but good things to say about it, so I started bringing my cars in.
This place deserves 5 stars because they tell you exactly what maintenance your car needs and wont push you on the things it doesn’t need. They’re super upfront with repairs being done and pricing. To top it off, they’ve got a great waiting room area to relax in while you wait. It’s clean and comfortable, and the customer service is top notch. I’ve been to a ton of different mechanics and I’ve been by-​far the happiest with Island Tires & Service. It’s so hard to find somebody that’s honest and dependable. I recently had a nail in my tire and brought it in to have it patched, they did a great job and didn’t even charge me. That makes me feel like a valued customer and plan on returning for all my general maintenance.
I keep recommending this place to my co workers and friends in Pasadena. I’d recommend you check it out if you need someone to look at a mechanical issue, general maintenance, rotate your tires or get an alignment done. The prices are always fair, and the work is always done right.

I brought my car here on the recommendation of the dealer where I bought my car. They replaced my battery, front tire, replaced a fuse and checked a bushing issue. They were very busy but what good shop isn’t? They took my car in right away and addressed all of my concerns. The waiting area is really cool. They have free coffee, snacks and wifi, a play place for your kids and their bathrooms are incredibly clean! The women’s restroom even had fresh flowers in it! My son and I sat on a nice comfortable couch and watched a car auction on their flat screen tv while we waited. A small group of kids came in during that time asking the shop to donate to a charity that provides duffle bags to foster kids which Jose gladly and generously obliged. Overall, my experience was great :)

Avoid at all cost! Go somewhere else!
If there was a 0 star rating they are the ones who would deserve it, I went there for a minor coolant leak i have on my Tahoe, they took me in and changed a little cap that is attached to the radiator, took my money, just to my surprise that the leak was still there, 90 bucks for nothing (5 min. of work).
Went back so they can take a look at it twice just to get told that i need to leave my car there, not even took a look under the hood to see what is going on, I am done with them, they did not do a radiator pressure test after they fixed it and are very rude on the counter, these are the mechs you want to avoid here in L.A. there is many bad ones and Island Tire & Service is one of them.
You guys do not deserve better, thankfully it was only that and nothing bigger.

Great shop. Always have tires done here. They checked alignment for me and showed me the results, and said everything was ok… no alignment service needed. Feel like honest shop that does good work.

This shop is busy. Jose is running the show and he’s always hussling to get people out in a timely manner.
Prices have always been fair and I will return.

Nice guys working hard to get your car ready quickly. I have had them do oil changes, tire mounting, alignment and brakes. I’ve always been happy with the service.
They have a cutely decorated waiting area with coffee, kids play area and decent bathrooms too.

Took SUV here for mounting and balancing of tires I purchased at tire rack. Everything went on including a traction control light that I was told would go off in 20 miles, it didn’t and I went back only to realize that I was happy that I researched how to reset the crawl control on vehicle because the tech didn’t know how and wound up doing it myself with there scanner machine. I had an idea it was out of alignment the following week and took it back in and found my hunch was right and the toe was out of spec. Three trips later the car seems to be on track… for now. Not coming back here in future.

There was a time 1 – 2 years ago that I considered Island Tires one of the better shops around but my last two visits with different cars has changed my opinion.
It seems to me the work is getting sloppy and careless — that’s not to say the guys at front desk don’t care because they do. They have been helpful and informative every time but I think the owners are allowing careless, unconcerned mechanics to lead the mess now — perhaps because they are cheaper to employ (just speculating).
After a radiator repair, my A/​C suddenly stopped working. Then after 2 days they fixed it but it was never the same, the A/​C shuts off if the car is idle, in addition, my bumper was left loose, not properly set.
On a different occasion with a different car, the mechanic left a tool on my engine which fell into radiator fan which thrashed about under the hood as I drove away. This car too had a radiator issue which turned out to actually be a head gasket issue but I didn’t find that out until the 3^rd visit and $ 400+ invested. Good mechanics will look at the root cause of problems and inform the customers that fixing one issue may not help to solve all the issues the car may have — but then they would not make $ 400 before they tell you that the car has major issues.
Island gets 2 stars because they are good for oil changes and simple maintenance. I no longer trust them for anything more complicated.

I have no idea if they do or don’t do a great car service. Why? They were extremely rude and condescending when asked to see if they can fix my flat tire one morning. Nail got imbedded. Yes, I wasn’t a profitable customer for them, but please show courtesy and respect to ALL your customers with small or big jobs.
Went half mile west on Colorado, on the right side found a shop that was busy too but guys there were so awesome! Courteous and professional. Forgot the shop’s name though — was just so relieved and running behind my schedule.

Very honest. I don’t love my Mustang as much as a human or even a good dog. But I do treat it like a gold fish I love. It gives no affection but it’s nice to look at and its going to always be there if I give it what it needs. So I only take it to shops with great vibes. This one had it. Very reasonable prices, courtesy, and prompt service. I got a balance rotation and checkup and can picture coming back for othe r undercarriage work like brakes etc.

Service and expertise. This is what sets Island Tire apart from the large chain tire shops.
I came here after a bad experience with a large chain discount tire place. What a difference!
Firstly, they are very professional and pleasant to speak to. They take their time to explain things (such as choosing the right tire based on trade-​offs between aggressive tread for better traction off-​road vs less aggressive tread for lower noise on-​road).
Secondly, they truly care about the customer. They special ordered tires for my truck, but didn’t just take it for granted that I would purchase them until after they installed them (and tested if the tires would rub), and letting me see how they looked on my truck.
Thirdly, they do quality work. The alignment work they did was great (my old truck has never driven this straight before).
Additionally, their prices were only about 10% more than comparable tires and service from the big chain tire place (which treats you like just another number). To me, this is well worth it. I would much rather deal with a local business which takes pride in their work and treats me like an intelligent adult.
The icing on the cake: when I had a nail in one of my tires a few month after buying them, they fixed it for me in 20 minutes… for free!
Island Tires has earned a customer for life. Not only will I not go anywhere else for tire in the future, but I will most likely go here for all steering and suspension work as well in the future (they are experts at this as well).
