If I could give 0 Stars I would. The reviews about them wanting to make money & not really caring about the well being of the pet is true. The long waits when they don’t have customers, also true. We entered & no one was in the waiting room it took 3 hours to get shots with a appointment. They don’t know what they’re doing & only want to make money. They told us they had to draw blood to run tests since our pup was show signs of being sick (no signs til we got there) They left a knot the size of a quarter on her neck because the tech put the needle into her muscle? And then she tried to blame the dog?(I held my dog whose a 25 pound mix lab) We ended up with a $ 350.00 bill??? for something that was never there. The new Doctor is a Joke. She doesn’t smile or try to connect with you but tries to instill fear about everything that could be wrong with your pup. But I guess this goes along with the staff that works there. They were more interested in the tat (all my friends have tats so I’m ok with tats but not when the guy is Dragging in a Pregnant Female & then dumps her in a car without air conditioning) Guys (the only other people ever that came in when we were waiting) who were bringing in the Pregnant Pit Bull Females (4 dogs 2 different groups) as we waited (no other type of dog came into the place it was empty). Oh and they have signs that say NO Pictures. After seeing the Pit Bulls & who owned them I can understand why.

I drive from Northeast LA to go to Rose City. They are great from beginning to end! They treat patients and their guardians with kindness and humor.

Dr. Bleifer is absolutely the Best Veterinarian I have ever encountered. My only regret is that I did not find her sooner. I recommend her without any hesitation She absolutely knows what she is doing. Wouldn’t trust anyone else with my precious dogs. She has the experience to recognize issues that other Vets were clueless about. Saved my Yorkie’s life.

I was just looking over my past reviews and realized this needed an update:
I’m happy to report that Rose City is back to being one of the best veterinary hospitals in Pasadena. Mitzy, the pug we’d taken there at the last review, had many old-​age and other problems last year and we came to rely on Dr. Kietzman’s experience and support until it finally came to the point that we needed to make the difficult decision to put Mitzy to sleep.
It was tough, but Dr. Kietzman and staff were there for us and even sent us a sympathy card a week later.
We’ve since adopted Rosie from Pug Nation and look forward to returning to Rose City for all our veterinary needs.

So far I have had a decent experience, but I have only had my dog for 8 months. The front off needs a little help but the doctors seem nice and knowledgeable. Some of the front office staff need improvement with customers, but the techs and doctors seem fine. I have no had a ton of issues here but so far they are ok. Pricing seems to be standard around the general area.

I was referred to Rose city Vet from my local Vet because my dog was making a gurgling sound and having difficulty breathing when breathing. When I took my dog there they found out that she had an elongated soft palate, and that she will need surgery. They gave us the price for the surgery. We ask for her to be spayed while she is under anesthesia. After the surgery we picked her up and she still had the same gurgling sound and still having difficulty breathing. We called and the dr. said that its normal after surgery. A week went by and it seemed like nothing changed, so we took her to get checked and the dr. said she has stitches in the throat (I thought it was weird sense the surgery was done with laser). She advised us to come back in about 2 months when her throat it’s fully healed. Two months passed by and we come back and the Dr. told me she needs to put her under anesthesia to check her throat (weird since she didn’t have to do that last time I brought her in). I leave my dog there they call me back while my dog is under anesthesia and they tell me that she had tissue that needs to be removed from her throat and if want them to go ahead and preform a second surgery since she is already under the anesthesia. I came back to pick up my dog and they charged me the full amount for the same surgery again. I asked why I am being charged for the same surgery again! Shouldn’t you fix whatever problem I came here to get fixed in the first place? Well apparently that’s not how it works at this vet office. I was even willing to pay for half but the full amount is just ridiculous. They refused to release my dog until I paid the full amount again. I’m advising to whoever goes to his vet to keep in mind that they do not care about your pet what they care about is getting paid.

I don’t know if this place is under new ownership but the doctors that work there now are awful. I brought my puppy in for her second set of shots. And they told me she had a parasite. The type of parasite they said she had cant be found with just a microscope. But some how they swear she had it. And she would of had serious symptoms. Which she didn’t… They charged me 200 dollars just for 4 shots and the visit and the antibiotic that was useless cause she didn’t have that parasite. Every question I had about my dogs the doctor had to walk away and research in a book. I panicked one day because my bulldog ate a piece of garlic… Not realizing that she had only ingested half of a half of a clove of garlic I called rose city vet clinic to find out what would happen if she had garlic. They told me the doctor had to research it and call me back… Seriously??? So I researched it found out garlic is of course toxic to your pet in large amounts and the small amount my dog had wouldn’t cause long term damage. It would actually help protect her against fleas. After I found all this out rose city called me back and said that the doctor said that there is no information about how much is toxic to a dog and that I should bring her in right away to have her stomach pumped. Even after I told them how little she actually had. If you really care more about your patients than just money then you wouldn’t have an animals stomach pumped over a tiny piece of garlic. Even the vet I got to now says that they must of just wanted money. I also have a dog with epilepsy. They put her on different medications and my dog had 22 seizures in one day. I took her to the emergency room with her meds and the prescriptions and the amounts prescribed were actually part of the cause of my girls seizures. Also they wanted to charge me 700 dollars to spay my boxer… The vet I go to now charged me 125 including a check up and shots and having my girl there over night. Big difference… DO NOT BRING YOU PET HERE! They only care about money. Very sad.

Dr. Dana Bleifer and Rose City Veterinary Hospital provide the highest standard of care for people who really love their pets. Dr. Bleifer has cared for 6 of my dogs over 20+ years. She is an extremely gifted diagnostician, and a warm, caring woman who fosters those same qualities across her office. Most of her wonderful staff (Dani, Stacy, Apryl, etc) have been with her forever, which speaks volumes. She spotted a very rare eye disease in my rescue pup several years ago, and cared for our other two sweeties when they were poisoned by contaminated dog food from China. Yes, our dogs got the bad food 8 years ago and would have died if not for Dr. Bleifer. She was supportive and proactive throughout, and, miraculously, brought our two dogs back from kidney failure when they were poisoned and they are still thriving almost a decade later.
Visiting the vet can be an emotional experience for those of us who cherish our furry ones. Often the stakes are high, as we find ourselves there for a problem. There is no one I trust like Dr. Bleifer, even though I drive an hour to her practice now (I moved). I cannot imagine those who wrote less than positive reviews, since Dr. Bleifer and her staff are truly invested in animal health and wellfare. Please discover this animal care facility for you and your pets, you will be forever thankful that you did. I can honestly say that I have never been disappointed, in 20+ years of animal care with Dr. Bleifer. And when can you say that about anything, especially a personal service involving one’s loved ones?!

I dont trust this place especially the cardiologist expensive and not the caring specialized service that should be given i believe my dogs heart murmur was not taken seriously and now my furbaby is gone

I’ve had a pleasant experience so far at rose city. I brought my puppy here for ear cropping, which is done by Dr. Bleifer. She was very nice and knew a lot about dobermans and their ears and she did an excellent job on the crop. They show you pictures of different styles so that you get the look you want, but they ultimately decide if it will look good on your dog based on the shape and size of the head and face.
Here’s the break down of the surgery: $ 100 deposit fee when you schedule the appointment. The total cost of surgery is $ 430, and it includes the pain meds, antibiotics, triple antibiotic ointment and gauze to clean the ears, two suture removals and the first taping are all included in the $ 430. After that they charge $ 25 for the taping, I’ve looked online and there are other vets that include all tapings and others charge $ 10-​$ 15. My suggestion is learn how to do it yourself. If not for the price I would give 5 stars but I think the price is too high for the ear taping. Lastly, the staff is very nice and the actual building is very well kept.

I wasn’t very impressed with Rose City. The front desk staff was very nice but not very efficient. I always had to ask for receipts and copies of the vaccines provided to my dog.
I am a new dog owner, so there’s a lot I don’t know. I was asked to bring in a fecal sample. I didn’t know they had special little bottles for collecting it — and they didn’t inform me. I didn’t know it had to be super fresh (or refrigerated… gross btw!) — and I wasn’t informed. So I had to make a special trip back.
I received a call after the results came in that the doctor needed to call me because the fecal report was «suspicious.» I was really concerned and it took hours for the doctor to call back to let me know she had roundworms and we needed to continue the deworming treatment. (I already knew this as I saw the worms in the stool, but to have the front office call and worry me before the doctor was available to explain seemed very cruel and unusual. Again, they were very nice, but quite frankly I’d rather have a staff that wasn’t so nice, but did a better job handling everything.
On multiple visits I asked to confirm that the vaccines and deworming were given and on 2 separate visits the response was, «oh, was she supposed to be dewormed today, let me check with the doctor.» Again, very nice, but if I hadn’t been on top of it she would have left without deworming. And how crazy must the charts look if it’s so difficult to figure out what she needs. Or is no doctor signing off on treatment before the dog is released?
One doctor I saw was very sweet, but responded to each question I had about my new puppy with, «well, you know that all depends on the kind of dog, the breed and such.» I kept thinking — you have to be kidding, I could use google to get that information. My dog is right here, she’s not a dog of undetermined breed– she’s a golden retriever! — and she’s sitting in front if you.
I was able to see Dr. Varcoe one visit and loved how matter of fact she was in responding to my questions. She was super sweet to me and my puppy, but more importantly she was so confident and knowledgable. She is no longer at Rose City. If she was I might still be going here, but since she left I looked for another vet.
I found Dr. Cailleteau at Sierra Madre Animal Hospital and I’m really happy over there.

I so rarely write bad reviews, but my disappointment at how my pet and I were treated today has pushed me too far.
I have been bringing my pets here for what seems like forever. Lately the service has just gone … excuse my pun «TO THE DOGS»
I went in to see if I could get her a shot. She seemed not to be feeling well, so they told me I should come back later and have her looked at.
I went home and came back, an hour and a half later\ waiting, and nothing. I asked what was going on, and they noted they were trying to Squeeze me in…
I wish I had known that when I booked the appointment.
As an owner of a business who also takes appointments I would never let a client sit two hours without the courtesy of updating them, and or giving them the option to leave and come back…
Its understandable that emergencies happen, but they could have just told me, instead of just ignoring me. Like it did not matter that I wait uninformed.
I have spent many years recommending Rose City as a vet to my clients, friends and family.
They have cared for several of my pets.
None of that seems to matter when you sit there being ignored for hours.
I can see it time to find a new vet.

I brought my new baby here for the first time and they calmed both her nerves and mine.
The doctor, Dr. Galdjian answered all of my ‘new puppy parent’ questions and gave great suggestions for products/​meds/​training.
All the techs were wonderful and really made a not so fun trip not so bad for my pup.
So thankful to have found this office and have confidence in future appointments.

This review is for Dr Strickland, chiropractor.
I have a 2 year old 110 pound, on the thin side, German Shepherd who’s had both hip dysplasia surgery and knee surgery. After each surgery I notice he walks to the side and doesn’t use his legs properly, lots of limping etc. Visiting Dr Strickland has made a huge difference in his recoveries. After just one visit you can see how much better he feels. He actually enjoys his hydrotherapy sessions without pain and will walk for a longer time.
Dr. Strickland is not only a warm and personable Dr, but you can really tell he loves animals and wants the best for his patients. I highly recommend him.

I had just moved to Pasadena and my 10 year old bulldog suddenly had an allergic reaction with swollen eyes and labored breathing. I was told by my previous vet to look for AAHA accredited and so I found Rose City Vet in an emergency situation.
That was our first appointment, I was very pleased with their pet care, excellent customer service, incredibly organized and attentive staff. I continue to bring my dog there for annual physical exams and various other appointments since they are thorough, friendly and reasonably priced. Each and every phone call, visit, follow up has been over the top professional and personal.
I am so glad I found Rose City Veterinary Hospital and I would highly recommend them to anyone who inquires about finding a vet.

Bill Strickland, DC, has been treating my dogs for years. Thankfully, it’s rare that we visit with a serious problem, but I like to schedule periodic animal chiropractic adjustments to help prevent long-​term problems down the road.
Dr. Bill is extremely knowledgable, professional and personable, and all my dogs have loved him. Unlike a «traditional» vet visit, which they often face with mild trepidation, all three of my dogs over the years have been quite happy about strolling into Dr. Bill’s office. I recently started my third dog with Dr. Bill — an adopted dog with a history of being shy with new people — and he warmed up to Dr. Bill in record time.
I have referred many friends/​clients to Rose City, specifically to see Dr. Bill, and all have been happy.
Just like with people, our animal friends can easily become «out of whack,» which can lead to compensatory issues. Periodic chiropractic adjustments is a great way to help keep our four-​legged friends feeling their best.

Finally, a vet we love! Dr. Bleifer is so smart and caring. We couldn’t have asked for better care for our beloved Leila who has had surgery there and now gets treatment for her arthritis. I wouldn’t take my dog any where else.

Thank you Rose City for making my pup and I feel like we are a part of the family. Dr. Bleifer did a wonderful job on my Doberman’s ear crop. The aftercare and taping was done by Gloria who is also amazing. I would recommend them for any of your pets needs. I would not hesitate to drive to Pasadena from the San Fernando Valley knowing that my pup is in great hands. Jäger loves you!!!

My Kitten decided to try flying last week. She ran past me out the door, making a break for it to explore, and immediately started to climb a tree in the back yard. I couldn’t get to her fast enough and she quickly got out of arm’s reach. She doesn’t know how to down climb yet, and as a result, I had to quickly get a ladder, consider calling the fire brigade and try to keep from falling apart. She started crying because she couldn’t get down, and she was at that point 32 feet in the air. Long story short, I couldn’t get to her fast enough, she tried to jump to the roof of the house and missed and landed on her side.
Within a minute I had her in the car on the way to Rose City and I was bawling on the phone to Bridget. As soon as I got through the doors, Erika took her and had the x-​rays already underway before I could even get my bearings. Bridget gave me tissues, told me that if my boyfriend called, they’d tell him that we were already there.
The staff gave me updates on her status, that nothing was broken, that she’s just shaken up, that she’ll bruise a bit, and what to look for in case of internal bleeding. Then they brought me into the room to look at the x-​rays with Dr. Casey to explain everything, and to explain how to observe her for the next 24 hours.
I was a mess, and they were so understanding, and caring, and prompt, and just overall amazing. Rose City made me feel like she was going to be okay. And she was.
She slept all night, and then she was playing again the next morning.
Thank you Rose City, you gave me piece of mind.

I haven’t tried too many Veterinarians, but out of the ones that I have, these guys were the best. I brought my Blue Doberman puppy for all the vaccinations. The staff is very friendly, they greet you and know your dog by name. My puppy seems very healthy and he’s growing by the day now.
