History
Established in 1893.
Windfall Farms is a 724-acre thoroughbred breeding farm with a rich history, beginning in the 1800’s when Paso Robles began to attract pioneer settlers who would become the founding members of the community. They would later establish cattle ranches, apple and almond orchards and vineyards. Windfall Farms was part of the original almond orchards before it’s subdivision in the early 1920’s.
The project was originally developed in the early 80’s as a world class, Kentucky style thoroughbred breeding and training facility. The property has a Broodmare Foaling Barn, Yearling Barn, Training Barn with a 6-furlong race track and a Stallion Barn which was home to many American thoroughbred racehorses including Flying Paster (1976 – 1922), Golden Act (1976 – 2000), Skywalker (1982 –2003), Itsallgreektome (1987 – 2007). Twice the Appeal and Sway Away, both trained at Windfall, competed in the 2011 Kentucky Derby and the Preakness.
