Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort

Stayed here over night a couple of nights ago. Definitely beautiful grounds and a possibility for this to be a beautiful resort overall. It needs some repairs and some better housekeeping. Things were broken. Walls needed to be repaired and painted. The kitchen had mixed match doors. It really needs a contractors attention on the inside of the villa. What troubled me more than anything is that the comforter sets on the beds did not look clean. The shower curtain really grossed me out .It had stains and mold on it. I am such a germaphobe, I had a fit. I just don’t understand why they let it get like that. Especially if you want people to come back.

Good stay. Didn’t get the property we had reserved on the main resort Property but we were placed in a larger place with three bedrooms and in the golf course in River Run.
The duplex property was well maintained, modestly appointed and comfortable. Flat screens TV in every room, washer and dryer, and Internet access via TWC.
A screened in porch off the master bedroom was the icing on the cake. A great place to enjoy an afternoon beverage or and evening coffee.
On the main resort property there is a main pool with a lazy river, beach access with Chair and umbrella rentals.
The restraint on the property is OK but there is better off site nearby.
As always, a good stay and we’re looking forward to coming back next years

Just spent the last week there. Have been there several times previously. Each time it gets more worn than the last. Carpet is disgusting in four units that my family reunion had. No updates since first visit 15 years ago. Daily bedmaking and towels are given. Cleaning staff does a horrible job. I called the front desk when I arrive to tell them that no one had vacuum or clean in the unit. They stated we would get a deep cleaning the next day. Nothing happened. Fire alarm went off for over a half an hour one evening. This must’ve happened several times since all of our fire alarms were covered with duct tape. Two stars because the pools were clean and the views were great. At high tide the beach is extremely small. Will be looking for someplace else for our next family reunion.

I have been coming here for a few years now, and haven’t had any problems until this trip. We booked our room months in advance and requested a third floor room (top floor) and were told we would get a third floor. When we arrived we were assigned a second floor room, with kids in the room above us, which we could hear running snd stomping above us. I also noticed the cleaning crew did not change the trash bags in the trash cans in the bathroom. They simply removed the trash that was in there, leaving the dirty bag. We also had a very noisy air conditioning unit that cause trouble sleeping. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and these are only minor things that could easily be prevented/​improved.

Stayed here numerous time and each time it has been fantastic. Beautiful scenery, great restaurant, good gym, and walking distance to the beach. The rooms are spacious and have an awesome balcony. Furniture is up to date and they have a nice décor. I highly recommend this place!

Didn’t stay at the resort, but did golf there… You would think that the starter would realize people are on vacation and be extra polite as to not ruin a day for them, nope. He was rude and rushed us off the 1^st tee (we were 4 minutes late due to GPS issue)…He simply could have let the group behind us off early and all would be good. So we hurry and tee off, and the group in front of was just heading to the green, so we weren’t even the late ones. He obviously did a poor job getting others off the tee and took it out on us… Now about the course. It sucked. The greens were in poor shape and the fairways were like recently watered dirt roads. Will never play there again. Terrible.

This place is huge so it’s totally subjective based on what section you stay in. I’m guessing that’s why there’s such mixed reviews. I only stayed for a night so I don’t really have much experience with the place. I came up to Pawleys to meet some old college friends who were in town for a golf tournament. I knew since it was off season I could get a deal on plenty of websites. Ended up paying around $ 80 for a one bdrm suite with two queens and pull out couch, full living room, kitchen, bathroom, and small balcony.
For the money, it was a great deal and worked out perfect for what we were looking for. We stayed in the summerhouse. It was your standard one bedroom condo, but the bathroom was particularly nice. Other than check in, I didn’t have any interaction with the staff, but they did allow us a late check out which was much appreciated after a long night out.

This is our second trip to Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort. Last year we stayed at Summerhouse an apartment like accommodation. 1 bedroom with 2 full size beds, a living room with a pullout sleeper sofa, 1 bathroom and a fully functional kitchenette. It was nice enough for our needs — 2 adults and 2 preteens. The staff was very nice, friendly and attentive. I agree with another reviewer in regards to the many spiders. They were outside our door and on the balcony. Quite annoying but we just dealt with them. I’m quite sure that had we complained they would have taken care of them. We were surprised at the affordability of this place therefore we returned this year taking advantage of an early booking 30% discount. This time, for the same price we paid last year, we are in the Fairways Villas which — we did not realize until later — are across the street from the resort on the golf course. We thought that this might be a hassle with accessing the beach but it wasn’t. We could either drive directly to the beach and park or drive to Summerhouse and ride the shuttle down to the beach. We love the villas! Our unit was about 1,100 sq ft! 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, living room, dining room, kitchen and washer/​dryer! And a nice screened in patio off the master! For 5 nights our price was around $ 550. For an 1,100 sq ft villa? We were thrilled! We love Litchfield! Much less crowded than Myrtle Beach (less college kids, drunks) more of a family atmosphere. We are going to be regulars and are thinking about purchasing a condo here.

It’s a pretty big property, and maybe that is why they don’t really clean like they should. Our balcony was full of spiders, I could hardly open the balcony door without being attacked by spiders. I had to get the broom to try to get rid of them just so I could sit outside. They should really do a better job at cleaning, also the rooms. There was an old cheerio beside my bed. The positive thing is that the staff at the Websters restaurant is outstanding.

Your opinion of the Litchfield Resort will depend completely on where you stay inside of the resort. For us, we stayed in a unit in the Fordham building, and it was quite nice. As these units are privately owned, I don’t know that all of the units are the same, but this one was impressive. It was on the small side for our group of eight, but that may be because it was family. A bunch of friends may have been better suited.
The location could not be better for some things — it was right across the dune from the beach. As a bonus, you are able to use the facilities in the lodge because you are not the owner (apparently property owners cannot). The unit also comes with wifi and has a full kitchen too.
We actually did not check out the entire property, but it is huge — driving is required for some of the places, unless you feel like a good hike (biking could be an option as well). A short drive from Pawley’s Island and not far from Myrtle without being in it, so good option for lodging if you want to go to the beach.

I have a laundry list of items of why not to stay at this hotel.
— the coffee creamer is so old it will float as chunks in your coffee.
— the water and food will make you hang out in the bathroom more than you would like.
— the A/​C unit will pull in the smoke from someone outside the room.
— the A/​C unit will blow the curtains far enough into the room to make one bed useless.
There are more but this is enough.
I will never stay here again.

Nothing good to say and too much bad to waste my time typing it. In a nutshell, unfriendly staff, old facilities and horrible rooms. Was extremely disappointed. I have stayed in a Motel 6 that would put this place to shame.

I recently stayed at the Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort again. For this visit, I stayed in the Summerhouse. I had a great 1 bedroom/​1 bath condo with a full kitchen, living room, and balcony. It was very clean and comfy and reasonably priced. I would definitely stay here again! This condo is not oceanfront but a short drive will get you to the beach club. It does overlook the pool and is a short walk to the main building that houses a restaurant, Starbucks, gym, etc. They have free wi-​fi, but it is pretty slow.

«A resort if your definition is ‘generous…very generous».
Very unimpressed.
I booked on Expedia for what was presented as a ‘deal’ at a mid-​range RESORT, my later research revealed it was the regular rate. We paid $ 114.00…and it was far from a resort. I’ve traveled the world in all kinds of accommodations and this was no more a resort than the local county fair is Disney World or McDonalds is fine dining.
Nonetheless, I suppose the ‘resort’ could be better if you stayed at one of the other facilities on the mega real estate project/​resort. But I tend to not think so and talking to others seemed to confirm, this. I got the feeling I was staying in the extra land from a failing time-​share ‘setup’.
We stayed at the ‘seaside property’ which was comparable to a mid-​range motel-​at best, not a resort or even hotel. The rooms were very small, as was the bathroom. The room was clean, bit the A/​C sounded like an f-​16 taking off and large scuff marks were everywhere. The elevators were akin to a sweat lodge and w/​o A/​C. The ammeities in the room were limited to a smaller old CRT tv and mini fridge with accompanying foam cups. Don’t plan on room service either — something i expect at a ‘resort’. Beds were uncomfortable and the rooms are loud, with noise from other rooms being audible Again, the room was very small… no foyer at all (like a motel), If you have kids I can’t imagine the mess, especially if you visit the beach.
Oh yes,’ seaside’ means a 5 – 10 (it’s really not an easy walk – ¼ miles as they claim) minute golf cart/​shuttle ride to an overcrowded ‘private beach’. The shuttles seemed to run more often then advertised though. and the beach area is less developed than the heart of myrtle.
When I mentioned to the front desk staff the room was less than I expected, they replied to basically take it up with Expedia. This is the same staff that never replied to a pre-​trip request/​e-​mail for information on local activities since it was our anniversary and I was trying to plan ahead since our time and finances were limited for this trip. The same staff, upon arrival, told me to check the promotional pamphlet display (for answers to the e-​mail I had sent much earlier)…no concierge service at a resort? And a dismissive wave from the front desk staff… Hmmm… I recieves a similar response in response to ‘spa services’. I was pointed to a binder and basically told to walk over to the spa (a 3^rd party vendor) for questions. Thanks for the help folks?!
I will say that the other staff were very professional and accommodating, particularly the shuttle drivers and housekeeping staff.
I hope to return to the area soon. But I intend to stay a block or so from myrtle beach, probably north. This ‘resort’ isn’t actually even on the ‘pawley’s island’ it appears, but rather litchfield? It’s a slightly slower pace I suppose, but I spent a couple of days in N. myrtle beach on the same trip. It was just as slow paced and closer to other ammeities… ammeities I wasn’t planning to need from ‘outside’ at a ‘resort.‘
I would stay again, but only for a considerable discount and at another property. At this point a micro-​tel a couple of blocks away would have been better. The rooms are bigger and I wouldn’t have gotten my hopes up about relaxing at a resort.
Basically just a letdown, especially

Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort offers suites, condominiums, villas and houses.
We stayed at the Avian Forest Villa.
Pros
–Safe neighborhood. A security guard constantly drives around the area, which was nice.
–Spacious
–Got a good deal on the villa.
Cons
–Unclean. Dust everywhere and stains on furniture. No one came to clean our rooms for a number of days.
–Needed more toilet paper and it took forever to get some.
–No Wifi
–Tiny outdated TVs w/​VCRs.
–Hot water didn’t work and had to call someone to fix it.
–NOT close to the beach or anything else in that matter. The site states that there is a Starbucks and restaurant on-​site. However, it was no where near the Avian Forest section.
–There is a pool here but it’s very small.
–The «King» beds in each room were actually 2 twin beds pushed together.
All in all, if I ever find myself in SC again, I will definitely be staying somewhere else. Preferably closer to the beach.
