ATEX Inspects

Robert did the predrywall and final inspection on my new build. I was impressed with Robert’s attention to details. He was also so kind to walk me through the final inspection and answer the questions I had with patience. I would definitely recommend Robert to my friends.

We can’t say enough how pleased we are with the work that Robert has done for us. We’ve used him twice — once on a commercial project and once on a residential project. Both times he was extremely thorough, very helpful, exceptionally generous with his time, incredibly quick about scheduling his inspections and getting us reports, and truly went far above and well beyond our expectations. We simply could not recommend anyone with more conviction and confidence than we recommend Robert. You will absolutely spend more money if you use someone else, and yet you will never find someone who does a better job than Robert.

Credit where credit is due. Robert did a very detailed inspection if my new construction home and gave me all the information I needed to discuss the findings with the builder. Finding these things now saves a lot of money in repairs in the future. This was money very well spent.

Robert was such a pleasure to work with. He was very thorough and timely with his inspection. He would explain things in further detail where necessary, showed me (a 1^st time home buyer) what to look for, how things worked, what was considered good quality, etc. And the entire time he kept a cheerful attitude, along with a great sense of humor, which made the experience pleasurable. I received my complete report the same day as the inspection. I would highly Mr. Welch and his services.

Robert did my home inspection in Santa Fe, TX. He was on time and arranged for a pest control inspection in our small window of time. He is knowledgeable about his field and has a great personality to boot! I recommend him highly!

Robert came out to inspect a home we were thinking about buying in Pearland. He was very thorough and professional. Robert came out to inspect the home. I found him on Unilocal and the reviews were helpful. Robert was very professional and answered all questions that my fiancé and I had about the home. he was very knowledgeable with frameworks of the home, HVAC systems as well as identifying leaks.
Robert did not rush the inspection and made sure to take his time and if he found anything, he immediately would call it to our attention, to show us exactly what the problem was.
Overall: i would most certainly recommend Robert and Atex Inspects to family and friends. His prices are very reasonable and the quality of work received was well worth beyond the price.

Robert came out to inspect our new home in Pearland in March 2012. I found him online via his website after a google search and I felt confident enough to hire him. Robert was very thorough and performed an inspection all over the inside and outside of the home and allowed me (the prospective buyer) to walk through with him. He showed me all the nooks and crannies of my new home, and told me so many things I would never have known to look for or find in the home. This was my first home so I had never done this before. The entire inspection lasted at least 2 hours, maybe more. Robert’s report was very detailed with pictures and I was able to send that right over to the builder and they acknowledged all of the items and were able to fix them prior to closing.
Robert did such a great job that I hired him again in March 2014 for my 2 year checkup and he did the same thing again, pointing out things I didnt even notice myself after living in the home for nearly 2 years. I performed the walkthrough with him again and he was just as detailed as the 1^st time. One thing he noticed was a crack in a large livingroom window on the 2^nd floor and the builder replaced it free of charge; that repair saved me hundreds of dollars alone. I again was able to send the report to the builder and they fixed everything as part of their 2 year full warranty. I will recommend Robert to anyone that needs an inspection done in the Pearland area. Thank you.

ATEX came out and inspected our house for a buyer. He was pretty quick, although he was really weird towards me (the owner) when I came home. He found some little things that we didn’t even know about, including thermal seals on three panes (the mist was so subtle on two of them that we needed a flashlight and magnifier to find it!) and a smoke detector that wasn’t working right. That was cool. I appreciate thoroughness. My problem was that he apparently felt some bizarre need to trump up non-​issues. I guess maybe if you don’t find something scary enough for the buyer to justify your presence, you haven’t earned your keep? High-​security thick strikeplates specifically designed to make the deadbolt secure and make kick-​in difficult was noted as a defect. Of course the door lock is tight (duh, that’s the point), but there was no problem with the gap or the alignment. The door opens and closes easily with no rubbing, perfectly plumb, etc. That was just annoying, not really a big deal. Secondly, there were hairline settling cracks in our concrete slab. Like 4 of them, somewhere in the vicinity of 1/​64″ to 1/​32″ wide. I wish I could post pictures of these scary, scary grand canyon cracks in our foundation. The foundation company laughed when they saw the situation, as a crack less than 1/​8″ wide is considered normal settling — especially when the structure shows no signs of shifting, twisting, wall cracks, unlevel floors, sagging, (inside or out) or dirt disturbance. The number of settlement cracks was actually remarkably small. (I guess Centex pours a good foundation, even if they put in cheap thermal windows?) Of course, I didn’t find the added stress of a completely unnecessary call to foundation people on a 5 year old house funny at all. That was some complete BS. If I was the buyer, I don’t know that I would appreciate the extra stress any more than I did as the seller.

ATEX Inspects is one of those local businesses that you only hear about through great word of mouth and I’m really glad we were lucky enough to get a referral.
The inspections are carried out by the owner, Robert, and he does a great job during the walkthrough of identifying problems and explaining how to fix them. He also goes into a lot of detail about basic home maintenance and offers suggestions about little improvements that could be made, though not technically necessary/​problematic.
On our first inspection, he saved us a huge mistake on a house we loved by finding cracks in the foundation (our inspection on our next home went much smoother).
Their rates are very reasonable compared to a lot of the other companies in the area and, if a deal breaker is found in your first home inspection, they offer a discount if you use them again for your next inspection… which kinda helps with the sting of having to go thru the buying process on a second house. As for customer service, Robert set up our appointment himself, just a few hours after we emailed him thru his website, which, to be honest, is not nearly as flashy as his competitors… but that kinda sums up ATEX Inspects. You’re paying for a great inspection… not bells and whistles. In our experience, he was flexible about about rescheduling when something came up on our end.
