History

Established in 1998.

K&L was started by Walt Kehr and Alec Lok back in 1998, after having successful independent companies since 1979 and 1984 respectively. They have done mostly high end Custom homes and remodels since the existence of K&L. They have also completed the Petaluma Sheraton and a major renovation to the Sebastopol Fairfield Inn. They are «Green» Certified and have a major focus on that aspect of the building industry. They are also an EPA Lead-​safe certified Firm.

Walt Kehr has Been a General Contractor since 1984 under the Name «Kehr Construction». In 1998 Walt merged with Alec Lok to form «K&L Construction Co;Inc». Combined They have over 55 years of Construction experience in Custom residential and Commercial construction. K&L holds a class «A» and «B» licence. K&L is a «Green» certified firm as well as «EPA» certified.

Walt is a life long Sonoma County resident. He has been Married for over 30 years. He has thee children and three grandchildren. Walt is very committed to «positive» development in Sonoma County and the surrounding areas.

We could not say enough great things about K&L. We could not have gotten through the building process without them; and the building process is not always easy to say the least. They are not only experienced, knowledgeable and competitive in price, but they bring that small company feel with the big company perspective. Their workers are nice, clean, and very respectful too. My first experience working with K&L was several years ago working side by side with them on a very large private residence. They were in charge of an extensive remodel and I was the landscaper working to install many thousands of square feet of lawn and other landscaping. I was extremely impressed with the way they handled everything, including the very discriminating clients. I gained much knowledge on how to run an effective business and really do things right. These guys really know construction. The partners Walt & Alec and all of their employees are absolutely first rate. This is no exaggeration. Three years later when I decided to take on the construction of a custom home and granny unit on my own property they were my first choice and this was after I interviewed several other firms. Not only did they do a great job on the actual construction, they also handled all of the endless details around dealing with the county officials and the bank perfectly and without delay.
