Established in 1977.

Our company, Kruetzfeldt Construction Company, Inc. has been in business and in good standing with the CSLB since 1977. Our license # is 338 647. 5 years ago we decided to focus our talents exclusively on solar doing business as Solar Universe. We have done 100’s of solar installations throughout Sonoma, Napa, and Marin during that time. We are locally owned and operated by father and son team — Paul and Keith Kruetzfeldt. Our focus is on quality installations that we and are customers are proud of.

Business Owner

Keith is a former Engineering Manager with HP and Agilent. Keith has a long history in green tech. At UC Davis he helped pioneer plug in hybrid vehicles and while at HP he helped develop LED’s for lighting. Keith is strong believer in the benefits of solar as he has it on his home and uses it to eliminate his electric bills and charge both his and his wife’s Volts.

RePower did a solar system on my Bodega Bay vacation home in Dec 2015.
They were extremely professional throughout the process and even volunteered to attend my HOA meeting to help push back on a neighbor and answering questions.
Very clean and high performance installation.
Due to their affiliation with Solar Universe they were very price competitive.
I would certainly recommend them to folks in Sonoma county.

REPOWER by Solar Universe really impressed us! They saved the day like a true super hero!!! We had what seemed like an impossible problem, our solar system (installed by a different company years ago) failed. We found out it had been non-​operational for a year! Solar Universe came out right away, identified the problem, and fixed it! Then showed us how to monitor our system going forward so we don’t end up with a big surprise $$$ on future True-​up bills. Completely thrilled with REPOWER by Solar Universe. Several solar companies had given us quotes however REPOWER was the only one my husband and I felt we could really trust. Sales Pro~Russell Ragland was by far the best! He explained everything twice at times and listened to what our concerns and needs were. I would highly recommend this company and all they had to offer from an excellent crew of installers to a wonderful office staff.

My husband researched several companies and we met with them but after meeting with Alan from Solar Universe we were sold! He did a great job explaining the process and how to best set up our solar for our home. There was not a hard sell and we didn’t feel any pressure. The whole process was very simple and in only a few weeks we had our solar installed. The crew that did the installation were great and worked around my busy house of kids and a very big golden retriever.
We have only had the system for a week but we are looking forward to our upcoming PG&E bills this winter. This is not something I ever thought I would say! I would highly recommend Solar Universe.

I am so glad I picked Solar Universe, I set up 3 quotes and Solar Universe wasn’t the cheapest but the customer service I received from the Sales Rep, Alan Christie was outstanding, he explain step by step and the workers were so professionals. They passed my expectations and will recommended them to all my friends and family. And the best of all I went from $ 400 plus a month to $ 40 a month and I don’t have to be the electricity police with my family that’s the best part of it. Thank you Solar Universe !! and Thank you Alan for your wonderful customer service and follow up !

Would not go to anyone else! Not having time to babysit contractors, these guys are the «IT» factor. They took on my «failed PG&E permit», (failed from another electrical contractor), I had for years on my house. They corrected it and had it pass! They met every need and achieved it with high standards. Every employee is back ground checked, and skilled. We felt comfortable and never doubted their ability to perform. My solar is up and working, they did the swimming pool solar at the same time… I have never been so surprised and impressed by a contractor to this degree. If we had to do it again, we would not call anyone else… If you want solar, this is the company to hire. Alan will meet with you go over every aspect of what the panels are, how they work, what expectations you should expect. He works every number to make sure you are in the zone of what you should be. So you don’t over expend or under expend. The electricians are well qualified and explained everything they did. Every employee is approachable and courteous. Well DONE!

We just did a large system with this company, John, Keith and Paul were amazing– If I could add more stars I would. They did what they said and more, NO CHANGE orders, excellent attention to detail and quality of work. We built a large custom home in 2005 and we were worried if this would mess with the aesthetics but because of their workmanship it did not. Integrity and trust in a business where there are many scam companies, Call John Cant– he is the man.

Hi All, Sorry for the late Update, have gone thru 6months of usage and my Average $ 120/​mo electric bill is now at $ 40/​mo! The bars on my PG&E net meter do go backwards in the afternoon.
A correction in my original post. The PGE SmartMeter did go away and was replaced by a SmarterMeter know as the Net Meter. I can read backwards so you get credit for energy you send to the grid in the day time. It unfortunately emits a signal to the environment like the SmartMeter. Sorry to raise our hopes of our answer to eliminate the Radiating SmartMeter. Go to YouTube and enter search term SmartMeter to learn about how these things radiate.
The solar system did have an erratic Enlighten system monitor clitch. Back in Nov while checking my system on the web I noticed one of my panels was showing an output of 8 watts, all others were at 175W!
Emailed my Solar Universe team and the they had a solution within two days. To make a long story short, I ended up having to install an RFI ‘clamp-​on’ AC line filter on my home furnace fan to reduce the AC line noise that this fan was creating. The fan just started working recently as winter lows were causing the furnace to turn-​on.
One piece of good news. Mortgage rate have been dropping, So I decided to Refi my mortgage in order to consolidate my existing mortgage and solar system payment. Now I own the Solar system and my mortgage payment is at the level it was before the Solar system.
Anyone looking for a great mortgage broker who is local in Santa Rosa? Trust me, after 3 Refi’s in 30 years this woman is the Best and will take you through the process smoothly.
My future changes will be to replace my 15yr old gas clothes dryer with and electric one to further reduce my ultility bill.

I wasn’t sure exactly how to go about making the move to solar panels on my house. I made one phone call to Ken Halliday and the rest was a walk in the park! Ken came to my house, made some measurements, explained the current state and federal rebates (fantastic right now BTW) and got me started on the paperwork.
Throughout the process, someone was always available to answer my questions and respond to my concerns. I NEVER felt any pressure to do something I didn’t want to do. If I understand it correctly, Solar Universe is a nationwide company, but a network of local people own the franchises in their area. I had the security of dealing with a large company, but felt like I was dealing with a small town contractor the entire time. Co-​owners Keith and Paul talked with me directly and even came to my house when a little fine tuning was needed. If I could give the Santa Rosa franchise of Solar Universe 6 stars, I’d do it now! Fine work people! Highly recommended. Best service I’ve seen in years. Excellent, excellent, excellent. — Karen Wofford
