Vision Essentials By Kaiser Permanente

I recently moved to Southern California. I ordered two pairs of replacement contacts and they never arrived at my new address. The staff at the Petaluma Vision Essentials were very responsive and professional. They researched the issue and came up with an efficient plan. I really appreciate the extra effort they put into getting my contacts order to me.

For the past several years My eye examinations have been at Petaluma Kaiser. This year was exceptional as I got safety glasses, computer glasses, sun glasses and corrective lens glasses. Linda insisted that I get scratch insurance that I did not feel I needed… but she emphasized it. Sure enough a short time later the lens’ In my primary glasses were scratched. The insurance saved me a lot of money. While she was helping me I could not help noticing her bright blue eyes were framed in the most beautiful blue abilone shell design I had ever seen. I asked her where she got them and to my delight it was right there. I ordered a pair right then. Since I wear glasses during all my waking hours it’s amazing to own fun glasses that flatter me. I receive many compliments on how pretty they are. Thank you Linda at Petaluma Kaiser Eye Care.

I really like Kaiser services in general, and the reception staff at the Optical Dept. were pleasant, fast and efficient. But the optometrist was cold, impersonal, and clearly used to a conveyor belt method of treating people. She ran the eye tests so fast I had to INSIST she slow down. Still, my appointment probably only took 2 minutes longer than what must be her average conveyer belt approach, because I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The eyeglass staff was similarly disappointing — more interested in talking among themselves. I finally had to insert myself into their conversation. All in all, a very unfortunate first impression of Kaiser’s Petaluma Optical Dept.

I have dealt with Kaiser’s optical department in the past, and have always found them professional and helpful. I recently made the decision to get contact lenses, made the appropriate appointment with the optometrist, and scheduled a consultation for fitting at the Petaluma Optical Center.
I’d spoken with friends who had been fitted with contacts, and I was a little apprehensive as well as curious about the process. I went to the appointment, and met with Laura Stewart, the Contact Lens Fitter.
She is one of the most patient, competent and thoroughly practiced professionals I have ever worked with in the Kaiser system (and, unlike some, I am a fan of Kaiser’s).
The examination and fitting process was comprehensive, with each step clearly described and presented in a context that related well to my needs and questions.
I went away educated and confident in the decisions that we arrived at, and felt more than just satisfied when the appointment ended. She showed a professional concern that made the whole experience both interesting and informative.
It will be a few visits to finalize everything, but I have to say that I left with surprisingly clear vision, no feelings of discomfort, and quite happy with the results of her care and attention.
