Took a bite of my healthy* granola bar; CRACK! Instant pain. Best guess, tooth has a crack. Pain was incredible. Heard of this office, so I called with pain and pleading in my voice. The receptionist was very sweet but did say the walk-in hours were over and I could come tomorrow morning. By that point I wanted to claw my face open and dig out my tooth. I explained what happened and my pain. She said let me check with our manager to see what I can do. Less than 5 minutes on hold, she was back. They were able to work me in! When I arrived, checkin and the new patient paperwork was ready to go and I was seen as soon as I finished the paperwork. The dentist who saw me was a senior resident. Some people think they don’t know things. Residents are full dentists, they are adding the clinical experience hours. Meaning they have seen real people while in dental school, they have done extractions, fillings on real people. Residency gives them even more«real world» experience. My visit went super well. News was tooth was cracked and root exposed. YEOUCH. I was offered my options of a root canal and crown or an extraction. Both did not sound appealing but anything to stop the pain. I chose to extract as it was the farthest molar. The doctor did a terrific job and ensured I was so so numb and he quickly took care of the tooth. I was very pleased with both his kindness, his knowledge of dental procedures and his instructions to me for aftercare. *Note to self: a Toaster Strudel would NOT have cracked a tooth! Boo to granola!
