I came here a few times to smoke cigars and to have an adult beverage or two. I was lucky enough to be there on a night when Shaka, a local promoter was throwing an event there that evening. He had a very nice jazz band assembled there that evening And some of the people in the audience came up to sing from time to time. Adesso Is located or the second floor of a lovely old building on Walnut Street. The club is very large with lotsa comfortable seating to enjoy a good cigar. However, The drinks are very expensive and the servers constantly hound you and ask you do you do you need a drink? Sometimes I have ordered a drink and took sip out of it and they’re asking me do I need another drink. It’s a real pain in the okole. And when there’s no band there it’s even worse! Most people went there because the cigar bar called Ashton across the street hadn’t opened yet. Well they’ve opened now …

Laid back atmosphere… Good scotch… movies playing on the wall, silent with subtitles… Or live music. Lots of couches, dark lounge feel. Worth checking out. We’ve been back a few times, though I wish the live music was not so loud. Its good, but we can’t hear each other.

This place is not the same as described below! As of 3 months ago it is under new management, and from what I saw it’s a classy place with great music, service, and the option to smoke in a well ventilated place. The service was great, the music fantastic, and it’s a really comfortable place to relax and chat with friends. Highly recommended

Look, if I was 21 again this would be THEE spot. The layout is great: dance floor towards the front and a lounge/seating in the back. The entrance is a bit awkward and narrow, with the gate keeper seated off in the cut. The biggest turnoff was the $ 20 cover, but I managed to complain enough that the gatekeeper knocked off $ 5 for me and my friend! Who could pass up a sale son…(*dave chapelle voice*) It’s cute, but I prefer lounges where the music isn’t blarring in your ear. Personally, I’m to old for clubs but would definitely recommend it you’re into hip hop w/o being hood! (drinks prices were okay. Paid $ 16 for a corona and a vodka/grapefruit and they also serve food from the bar as well)

Adesso is an intimate venue, similar to Denim, but with better ventilation. Smoking didn’t seem to be permitted, a plus for me. Decent music and sound system. Their VIP floor is decent, offering a view of the dance floor. Besides a bit of club lighting by the windows, there’s red highlights around couches in the back. The bar staff seem to be inept — hopefully that’s been fixed? Took forever for anyone to get drinks — probably about ten minutes between drinks. The bar was busy but didn’t seem understaffed, yet I felt neglected; I waited so long that a guy next to me bought ME a shot.(No joke. I returned the favor twenty minutes later.) When I got a bartender’s attention, I asked for shots with pineapple. He said they didn’t have anything that went well with it.(Possible.) I asked for red headed sluts. Got a blank look.(Really?) Finally settled for Washington apple shots, after noticing a patron ordering those after going through an irksome exchange. They were weak and pricey.

I heard it’s a bit costly to go when there’s no promotional event happening. I went on an «asian» night because DNA was promoting the club. It was free for the ladies, why not. Honestly, all bars/clubs are the same to me by now. There’s nothing special about this club expect for the open view by the glass window. The drinks are your typical prices for the area.

Wow, I’m surprised at all the negative reviews. But seeing as it is a new place, it could possibly be for lack of experience among the staff. My recent experience at Adesso was not nearly as awful as those of the previous reviewers. I do agree that it is a little bit hard to spot — there isn’t much outdoor signage, so you have to know what you’re looking for. I was here for another one of those Asian parties that I always go to. Now these parties are thrown pretty much every week, but I only go to the venues that I like. I like Adesso because it’s a wide open space and the interior is clean and nicely decorated. It’s not dark or dank or smelly like other clubs in Philadelphia. The woody interiors make it warm and rather inviting for a dance club. The drinks are a little pricey($ 11 for a vodka-cranberry I think it was?!) but I didn’t have trouble at the bar like previous reviewers. The bathrooms are also fairly clean. The stairs going up can be a problem for drunk people, but I still generally prefer this club to others for its décor.

I hadn’t been out in Philly for a very loooong time, at least not to «party». But the occasion was a special one, three of my girlfriends birthday celebrations, all of which are either hitched, pregnant, or moved away. So it was a reuniting party to celebrate gracefully aging. For the most part I am a strong believer in that my «good» or «bad» time is highly dependent on the people I am with. Since these girls are ALWAYS a great time, I did have a great time, but to separately view and critique Club Adesso, well here goes. First off, it’s a bit hard to spot, it’s the side door of a restaurant, so you just have to look for a guy standing in a suite ready to ID you. There wasn’t a line(not judging) but I think maybe cause the place is stlil new? You then walk up a REALLYREALLY narrow and steep red/dark velvet stairwell. And mind you, it’s so narrow that it’s really only enough room for one line up or down, so you kind of have to attach yourself to the wall in order to slide past people. I would’ve probably been a little annoyed if I had to pay cover, that which I refuse to do, there seems to be too much available for free, so why pay cover, am I right? or am I right?! Anyway, I digress… So first off the narrow hallway, then I walk up, and I’m impressed with the high ceiling featuring another floor(technically the 3rd floor, but really the second floor of this club). The upper level has also a halfway wall, so you can look down onto the first floor, which is made into the dance floor. The large floor to ceiling windows are really sexy too! There was only one small bar, with two actual bartenders, and they were so slow. I think they were overwhelmed, on this particular night there were a lot of people(from my inference on reading other people’s reviews maybe this isn’t always the case so they short staffed?). But anyway, I didn’t check out the top floor only because I could just see the guys that were oggling overhead at the dancers below. And that it although it was probably 80 degrees outside, the inside was like a friggin boiler room that when someone jacked open the window, it felt like an Artic breeze. Anyway, overall, I probably won’t pick this place on my own. If friends go, perhaps, but if there’s cover, no thanks.

A new lounge to the rittenhouse square area, right across the street from the Guess store, and kinda of hard to spot out, but you can’t miss it with the crowd that stands outside. Inside, very newly decorated with modern furniture, with the right wall colors, and seats that all blends in very well to give in a nice sophiscated feel to the lounge. It is somewhat not so small and not so big of a lounge, but it offers a pretty big dance floor then other rittenhouse lounges. Their upstairs VIP section is hot! They have nice leather couches and tables for the table services and it was pretty roomy upstairs too, and the best part is that the upstairs is like a balcony in which you can look over at the dancefloor down below. The only one thing I would say that would give it a minus star is that the bartenders don’t know how to make drinks or don’t know most of the drinks. It seems like they’re all new to bartending or something. And to me, it was kind of ridiculous to have 4 bartenders in one bar and I still had to wait about 15 minutes because they were kind of slow moving. I think it was partially due to the fact it seems like all the girl bartenders have to wear heels while bartending, that looks painful. lol Overall it is a great place to party and even to throw a private party, it’s all a pretty good place to go! :)

Like the others before me, the upstairs of this place Club Adesso was not very good. I don’t care if a place is crowded or not, but it wasn’t very crowded. The dance floor is a good size with a very nice view onto the street. The overall atmosphere of this place is very nice. It was free cover prior to 11, yet I was there at 1102, and I had to pay 10. That was annoying. Get in, no one there, so we go to the bar. I thought it was easy to get a drink. I did not particularly enjoy paying $ 10 for a makers on the rocks(how much work does it really take to make that drinK? unscrew and pour). That was $ 10. We left after a couple more drinks. I can’t say I’ll be back, as it isn’t fun to pay 10 bucks for a drink in an empty bar when I can sit in my house and have all the makers I want with the same company.

This review is for the second floor bar/club, Adessa. Don’t waste your time or hard-earned cash going to this ho-hum joint with terrible service. I would rather lose my right arm than walk in there again. I was SHOCKED to find out that the rudely aloof bartender was actually the OWNER– you’d think he’d want people to WANT to go there, but apprently he wants the place to himself. I say let him have it. He’s mean, so I know Karma will catch up with him. Don’t go in if you don’t want want to risk getting his nasty karma all over you.

Very disappointing experience at the second floor bar(the new Adessa or Adesso…) on Saturday night. Long story short(ish), despite the place being empty, 15 or so friends pay cover to stand in a big beautiful room and pay too much for drinks, that is, if you can get one. The bartenders seemed totally overwhelmed and didn’t appear to want to leave their huddle at the other end of the bar… ten minutes or so after requesting of the barback that he convey the message that I would like to buy a round of shots for the girls in the group, a gentleman in a hat comes near and begins to make the shots. I explained that because it had been so long, the girls had wandered elsewhere so I no longer needed the shots but would take a refill on our couple of beers. The man in the hat tells me «I want you out of here.» I was shocked, but at this point, obviously more than happy to leave anyway, except for the fact that the birthday party continued on… More disturbing however, was that although I specifically wrote in $ 0 for the tip on my credit card to pay my bill, my card was charged more than I authorized. That’s a bit of a no-no… There are plenty of places to have fun in the Rittenhouse area, so I won’t waste my time or energy returning here.
