Local 215

I had the pleasure of running into this food truck at the Greenfest last year. The pulled pork sandwhich was one of the best I have ever had. The barbecue was vinegar based and slightly sweet, it was simply delicious. I am so annoyed when sauced meats are served on a bun that cannot handle it, this was not the case. The bun was able to handle the weight of the meat and the juice of the sauce. The mac and cheese was amazing. It was cooked perfectly and the blend of cheese made the dish. Sometimes, as the cheese cools, mac and cheese starts to taste dry, again not the case here. The food was effortlessly delicious. It was also nice to read up on their local sourcing mission.

Much like the case with Homer Simpson, Local 215 first had me with their pig logo and many delicious pork offerings. But as I read about their commitment to sourcing as many local ingredients as possible from area farmers like GreensGrow it made me like them even more!
Beyond the pork influenced items like one of the best pulled pork sandwiches you’ll ever find, and collard greens slow cooked with bacon; you’ll find plenty of other incredible items. this includes appetizers like roasted corn and grass-​fed beef meatballs, and mains like a locally sourced duck confit and 10 spiced chicken over seasoned rice. But its just easier to sing the praises of things like house made pork roll and pork belly buns!
While their main locale is 33^rd and Arch, you definitely want to keep track of their Facebook and website to keep track of what other events they’re serving food at!

These guys are artisans, the food is so superb, that we decided to hire them to cater our wedding, straight from the truck, without issue they served 140 people who raved about the food. Most of our friends and guests work in high end restaurants as chefs and captains and kept coming up to me, asking who are these guys? This is the most amazing thing I’ve ever tasted. It’s true, the pork fritters are magical! Their Crostini’s were also a huge hit, as were the wine braised short ribs, 10 spice chicken & the mushroom strata, that was supposed to be for the vegetarian option turned into a side dish that everyone loved. These guys have permanently raised the bar for food trucks and the possibilities they have.

Pulled Pork Sandwich was top notch. Meat was juicy, tender and very flavorful. This masterpiece had the right amount of slaw, a tangy sweet sauce and the bun held up perfectly without being chewy. A+ guys!

We decided to use Local 215 to cater our wedding. This was the best decision we have ever made. Alex and his team provided such an amazing experience for my wedding guests, and of course, for us. The food was imaginative, delicious, and reasonably priced. We aren’t chicken an fish kind of people. The pork cassoulet, braised chicken over rice, falafel, and shrimp rolls were amazing. When weather got in the way of our plan for serving, Alex and his team did an incredible of troubleshooting at a nontraditional wedding venue. Thank you so much for making our wedding so much fun and so special.

We had Local 215 cater for our wedding and we were very pleased with the results. They were very easy to work with and flexible. It was good to sit back and enjoy the wedding and not be stressed out about food.
The food was delicious. We had the gazpacho, crostini assortment, mushroom and leek mac and cheese, salad, shrimp roll, and brisket over mashed potatoes. All the food was a hit with the guests. The service was a bit slow, but given that it was served buffet style, it was understandable. But when the food is that good, people don’t mind waiting a little bit for it.
I highly recommend them for future catering needs!

Far and above the best food I have gotten off of a food truck! Not only is the pork great but the brisket is far and the above the best I have had in my life! If you see this truck make sure you get something off of here!

Well… first off, I really really really hope I run into this food truck again. I chose this truck to eat from at a festival in Peddler’s Village today. Glad I did. I can’t even put my love for what I had from there into words. The Seared Ahi Tuna sandwich with the lemon poppy stuff, the coleslaw, and the wasabi aioli… and whatever the hell else was on it was fudging fantastic (I swear I usually write more proper reviews than this, I just really liked it). Man. SO delicious. I sampled someone else’s pulled pork sandwich, which was extremely juicy and amazing (sriracha bbq anyone?!?). I felt gluttonous. Yes, my review sounds ridiculous… but I am ridiculous and that food was ridiculously great. Thumbs up, guys on the truck. You were all so polite too.

We used Local 215 to cater our urban-​themed wedding back in May. They were fantastic! Everyone raved at how good the food was and how cool their truck was. We had guests go up to the truck and place an order just like they would on the street. Service was very friendly and fun. I would definitely recommend these guys!

We have had Local 215 cater two family parties and they have been nothing short of awesome. The food has been great, the service has been attentive and punctual, and the experience has been amazing.
They have great and tasty food that appeals to a large crowd. The sides are just as good as the entrees. The staff is flexible with the prep and adjusted on the fly.
We have also had the food out and about and it has been very delicious as well.
Don’t miss out on Local 215 when you see them. You won’t be disappointed.

Local 215 redeemed themselves today by coming to our office for Fooda. I got the chicken-​duck-​pork belly-​bacon-​bean-​veggie conglomeration, and it is fantastic. Hearty and delicious!

I’ve had the opportunity to experience local 215 on a few occasions including two night markets, the Mann Center and on N Broad near Temple. I can honestly I’ve never been disappointed. I’ve seen some complaints about the prices, but I think they are very much in line with many of the newer food trucks in Philly. The food is top notch and the staff always have a great attitude Anything with duck or pork involved is a must! I hope you get the chance to catch these guys on your lunch break or at the next night market!

This was tasty, tried the braised chicken sandwich with crème fraîche and pickled jalapeños, really juicy with warm spices and a nice hit of heat that was nicely balanced by the crème fraîche. I also tried the pork belly mac and cheese which was totally worth the calories, crispy pork belly and the velvety sauce was a pretty dangerous combination, back to the gym!

Sorely disappointed. My husband and I just paid $ 50 for their BBQ sandwich, salmon BLT and pork belly Mac & cheese (plus a nice tip) at a concert. There were 3 trucks but we waited in line for this truck. The food taking forever to come out should have been hint number 1 not to wait. It took 10 minutes in line and another 15 minutes waiting for food. I watched some people wait upto 30 minutes for their food. The food was mediocre at best and the Mac & cheese left a funny after taste. I don’t recommend and I am a huge food truck advocate, I’m in the biz. But these guys need to learn a thing or two if they want to actually be successful. Like that they should par-​cook their bacon and cook it off in big batches, not single orders at a time. Waste of time and money!

I’m really torn here. This foods truck was one of three available for a company picnic we had recently. I really appreciate them making the trip to serve us, but there were a lot of highs and lows with this truck. They were the last to open, but their menu seemed really promising. So, despite the long line and the other two trucks steadily pumping out food to customers, I decided to wait.
The sandwich I had was good. Nothing spectacular, but the flavors were well thought out and developed. The item that caught my eye was their pork belly mac and cheese. I can’t describe how utterly disappointed I was. It was essentially pasta with bacon. I really could not discern if there was any cheese in there at all.
I would have asked for a refund had I had any time left. The long wait for them to start serving had me behind schedule for the rest of the activities.
I’ll recommend their sandwiches all day long, but they really need to rethink their mac and cheese recipe before they disappoint any more patrons.

I had the pleasure of tasting this food truck while I was at Philly recently and I wish they had something like this in New York. I had their pork fritters which were SO GOOD. They were a tad pricey for what you got, but the flavors were great and the fritter was really well made so I guess you can’t really complain much. For $ 6, I got three pork fritters and they came with a dipping sauce that I wasn’t too much of a fan of, but my boyfriend loved it. I preferred to dip the fritter in Siracha sauce because I love siracha and would pretty much dip anything in that. The fritter was exceptionally crunchy and the flavors blended together really well. If this truck in your area, I highly recommend checking them out. I love their concept of a gourmet food truck.

Hit this place up at the Manayunk street food festival. I got the pork fritter balls. There for three smaller sized deep fried pork balls which were breaded. They came out piping hot with a side of hoisin BBQ sauce. Now this was the best thing I had all day but a little steep in price for six bucks. The balls were perfectly seasoned, hot and crispy, flavored with the right amount of spice, pistachio, capers mustard seed. The food is 5 stars but the prices make it 3.

I recently had the opportunity to patronize the Local 215 truck at the outset of a concert at The Mann Music Center, and they hooked me and my husband up with some delicious bbq sandwiches. The prices were a little steep* for the modestly sized sandwiches, but the quality was spot on. The guys in the truck were friendly and fast, keeping the growing line moving right along.
I enjoyed the smoked chicken bbq sandwich, which was served saucy on a soft roll topped with a light pickled slaw of veggies. It was messy enough that I needed a knife and fork to eat it, but we secured a picnic table and had been given adequate utensils and napkins. My husband enjoyed the bbq brisket sandwich, which had better structural integrity than the chicken. The meat itself just verged on dry, but the horseradish cheddar sauce remedied that.
* As for the prices, I think our sandwiches ran ~ $ 11 each with no drinks/​sides/​chips/​etc. which is a little steep. However, I know that many of trucks that come to The Mann kick their prices up a bit. I don’t know if it is to offset some charge by the venue, or just because they have a captive audience, but the prices end up in line with other concert venue concession food. I am a lot happier paying $ 11 for an amazing sandwich than for mediocre chicken fingers.

It’s a nice looking truck, no doubt.
Tried the braised duck on polenta, which consisted of braised duck and polenta. And some pickled veggie and some spices. Yes, it was yummy. But in the way that a food laden with grease and salt is yummy. Perhaps like gourmet junk food. For a $ 9 lunch I expect something my grandparents would consider a meal. That would mean veggies. And no, the corn in the polenta doesn’t count.
If you’re looking for a tasty hot snack, this truck would be great for that.

Wow! Local 215 is an awesome food truck and I wish I had the pictures to prove it.
I visited it when it was at the Brewerytown spring festival and chowed down on the pork fritters (smoking hot with a savory flavor complimented by a delicious barbeque sauce). I also had the duck buns – pita wrapped roasted duck. Succulent to the last bite.
I loved this place and will definitely be returning. The owners are sweet and friendly, too.
