Meet the Business Owner
Alan M.
Business Owner
Before opening Metcalfe Architecture & Design in 2001, Alan spent over ten years as a lead designer or partner at three other firms in Philadelphia.
Alan earned a Master of Architecture from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Tufts University. In addition to his architecture experience, Alan has worked in contracting and cabinetmaking.
Outside the practice, Alan serves as a visiting critic at local architecture schools, volunteers for and acts as a board member of multiple non-profit community and cultural organizations.
Alan also plays the blues.
