We worked with Hy (owner) for my band as well as Mike for my engagement ring and a few other very friendly people helped me throughout the process of buying both my rings.
Because we bought the first, we received a discount on the second which was amazing and much appreciated. They were there to answer all my questions and NEVER at any point pushed me into buying something I wasn’t comfortable with. Both my rings were custom variations of existing pieces and they worked with us to get us to the exact price we wanted. Zero complaints. The rest of the stores I went to, I did not get this same vibe at all! Highly recommended. Thanks guys!

After waiting years to visit the infamous jeweler where my grandfather bought my cherished grandmother’s ring in the early 1960s, we got a ‘great deal’ on a $ 700 watch for my son. Months later, we were informed by the maker that we should have also received an automatic winder for the inertia wound watch.
Inexcusable and cheap move.

This was the first store that my buddy and I went into, looking for an engagement ring for myself and my fiancée. Once we went in, we didn’t need to find another place. I went in, told them my budget, and the staff provided me with multiple options. Even with my smaller budget, I still found some tremendous rings besides the beautiful one I chose. Each time I have gone in there since, no matter which staff member who helps, I was greeted like a friend. My buddy and I were given some beers while we waited, which made the experience much more comfortable, making us feel like we were at home. I will, without a doubt, be going back and I am making sure to tell everyone the best spot on Jewelers Row. Thank you to Rich and the entire team at S&R.

My fiancé and I just picked up our wedding bands yesterday from Safian & Rudolph. We are so happy with them and their excellent service! The staff is very friendly and informative. My fiancé also purchased my engagement here and I love it! I love knowing that we have great quality jewelry. I’ve received so many compliments on my ring! «WE WANT OUR CUSTOMER TO BE HAPPY» This was the claim from the salesmen «John».I had a ring reset at this jeweler a few years back and a prong broke so I brought it in to get repaired. So instead I decide to look at a different setting all together. I found a setting I was interested in and John said we could have it ready in 5 days. I said I am not sure if I really like it so I will think about and If I want it I will come back. Then all of a sudden he says we can have it done in an hour. So the thought of something new got the better of me and I went ahead with the purchase and paid up front which I guess is customary. I walk around for an hour and come back and pick it up. immediately after I put it on I was having 2^nd thoughts I went back to the hotel we were staying the weekend at and as soon as my husband saw the ring he said your other ring looked a lot better. He does not care about cost or anything like that he just gave his opinion. I was hoping he was gonna say he loved it and then I would of felt better but it was true the other setting was a lot nicer and highlighted my diamond. We were gonna return to the store but it was too late to go that day. The next day we returned (it was a Sunday) we were there at 12:30 (They open at 11) but because of the ice they were opening late. It was pouring down rain but they would not let us in so we walked around the corner and waited. We come back and John is working and we explain the situation that my wife hates the setting and we would just like to have the diamond put back into the old setting. John says «Our goal is to make our customer happy bottom line». I figured to make it easy I would just ask for store credit. He says he has to call the owner and ask. He comes back with a story about how to return the setting that a new «table» would have to be built because they had to customize the setting to accommodate her diamond and that would be $ 200’s and it would be an additional $ 150 to put the diamond back in the old setting. I find it hard to believe they custom built a table when they set it in an hour in the first place. So John insists he wants me to be happy and shows me additional settings. I find one I like which is almost double the price. It was not much different then the original setting but John says it will look a lot different because the original setting was too small for the diamond. That was funny because they were the ones who set it originally. He said he would call the owner and work out a price that would make everyone happy. He came back with a price and we were gonna close the deal but then the question came up of the $ 200 that they wanted to charge to repair the old setting. I said I would split it. So he went to call the owner again who chose not to answer the phone this time. So I say fine give me a call tomorrow and let me know. I get the call and not only will they not split the cost to take the diamond out but the cost has gone up. I am now mad at myself for starting this whole process so I say forget it I will just go pick it up. So that is what I did and now it will sit on my dresser until I get it reset somewhere else. I would of given 1 star except John was really nice and I think really felt bad about the owners decision but his hands were tied. So long story short their motto should be «WE WANT OUR CUSTOMER TO BE HAPPY AS LONG AS WE MAKE ENOUGH MONEY OFF THEM!»

A three-​generation family-​owned business in Philadelphia right on Jewelers Row! They have a very nice staff waiting to serve you as you walk into their newly renovated showroom! I’ve had Rich help me and my sister purchase and fix some items. They’re a very honest business that aren’t pushy to sell like other jewelers. They’re an authorized Bulova dealer but can get you pretty much anything you’re looking for so don’t be hesitant to ask. Next time you’re shopping for a piece of jewelry, and looking for someone you can trust, come here and find Rich and he’ll take care of you! I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Just had an amazing experience picking out my wedding bands with my fiancé Joe.
Our relationship with S&R started last winter when Joe walked up and down jewelers row looking for someone to create my custom engagement ring. Danielle’s service set S&R apart from every other shop looking to just make a sale. She genuinely cared and helped create the perfect ring. She remembered Joe the second we walked in to shop for our wedding bands, and helped us right away. We were then able to work with Rich to get our perfect wedding rings while staying within our budget!
S&R created a very personal experience for us and the service was top notch. We couldn’t imagine shopping anywhere else. Oh, and the rings are beautiful!

I recently bought an engagement ring from Safian &Rudolph and my experience was fantastic. I had set up an appointment with Dave M. for a Saturday morning and on the phone he stated he would take out diamonds that met my specifications. Sure enough my mom, sister and I walk in Saturday for the appointment and there is Dave with the diamonds ready to show us. From the time we sat down until I picked up the finished ring Dave was great. He explained everything about the diamonds and what we should be looking for. Dave was excellent to work with. At the end I got the perfect diamond ring and I could not be happier. Plus my girlfriend now fiancé can not stop smiling and staring at the beautiful ring. I was asked to write a review with the service and quality I received. So, here it goes.
That first day I went into Safian, I was ready to make a purchase but had not found a ring or setting I liked for my Fiancé. A gentleman named Mike was working with me and showing me different settings and such, which I liked but none were perfect UNTIL he showed one with a white gold band with rose gold on either side and 2 smaller diamonds on the front and back of the setting. I instantly knew that was the right setting for my girl! Then Mike assured me that he would be able to work with the princess cut diamond and make sure to have the ring sized correctly in the right amount of time I wanted it by. I was almost sure that was the ring I was going to purchase, but I had to go home and think about it…
I got home, and after about 2 hours thinking about it, I called back to Safian & Rudolph and asked for the very helpful Mike, and he was able to take partial payment over the phone for me to get the purchase process started. He assured me that the ring would be ready in the next 3 days, even though I needed it no later then 7 days (Great, Quick Service!!!)
I went to pick up the ring 1 week after I put down the deposit, and it all looked beautiful!
I was so happy with the customer service I received. The urgency they had it getting the ring and all the certificates ready by the time I needed it. Their ability to work with me on a payment plan, and payment in general was fantastic too!
My Fiancé and I are extremely happy with the ring and have had a successful engagement!!! I can’t wait for the wedding!!!

My fiancé and I went to Jeweler’s Row in Philly to look for wedding bands for him. We stopped by Safian & Rudolph’s first. We were greeted by Danielle and at first she was really nice and friendly, and joked around with us. But my fiancé isn’t the type of person to choose a ring on the spot, so he took his time. It was only about 30 minutes and we’d narrowed it down to 2 rings and one of them was a strong contender, but by that point Danielle’s demeanor had turned a bit less friendly. But it was still ok and we’d said we’d come back to finalize our decision. Before we left I asked whether they would be able to alter a CZ tennis bracelet I had as it was huge on me. They said no problem, and even said they could make earrings out of the extra links, which was perfect! They measured my wrist and I told them I wanted it a bit «drapey», so they counted off 7 links to remove — 3 for each earring and 1 link remaining. They charged $ 60 for the resize and the earrings. A bit higher than I’d expected, but it was what it was.
A week later we got a call that it was ready. We returned and Danielle greeted us again, but this time her demeanor wasn’t as friendly. She handed me the items, and I tried on the earrings — and they looked good. I then tried on the bracelet, and it was very tight, almost uncomfortable. And I told her this, and she said, well we measured it. And I said, but it’s too tight what can you do? And she said, we can add the other link back in but we’ll have to charge you. I was astounded and said she can’t be serious. My fiancé asked for the manager, whose name I’ve unfortunately forgotten, who came over and immediately understood the situation and said they would take care of it. Thank goodness for him.
I got a call a couple days ago that the bracelet was ready, and I went over yesterday to pick it up. Of course Danielle was there and she recognized me. Without saying anything, she went and got the bracelet. I tried it on, and the extra link made a world of difference. I said it was great. She said ok and walked away. I asked if I could have the envelope to put the bracelet in, and she handed one to me. i said thank you. and she walked away from me without saying a word.
That sort of behavior is just ridiculous. She made me feel horrible and I should not have to deal with that. I have no idea what her problem was, but in an industry where customer service is as important as the products being sold, you would think it would be a priority to be nice to the customer. And on another note — perhaps needless to say, we took our business elsewhere and bought the wedding band from another store.

My fiancé proposed to me with a ring that was passed down from his Mom. The ring was beautiful, but it just wasn’t for me. So we took the ring to Safian Rudolph to have the diamond put into a new setting. Going in, I knew that I wanted a very simple halo-​type setting. Eddie helped me find the most perfect setting. It was exactly what I wanted! Eddie was helpful and patient, and I would recommend this place to everyone I know. I love my new ring and I will be back for the wedding bands!

I dropped by Safian & Rudolph when shopping for an engagement ring for my now wife on jewelers row. I had a slight idea of what my wife would like, but I couldn’t really articulate it to the salesman. He was very patient with me and helped me through the process by showing lots of different styles and options. He wasn’t pushy, but still made me feel like I was an important customer. I ended up buying a ring that I was confident my wife would like. And she did! Safian fit the ring and I still drop by for cleanings. Great customer service and friendly patient salesmen!

I purchased my wife’s engagement ring, my son his wife’s engagement ring and much jewelry over the years. Always outstanding service, insightful advice and quality merchandise. Stopped by Tuesday, May 14,2013 to get a pair of diamond earrings for my 14 year granddaughter. What service and recommendation for the style of a 14 year old. Extremely pleased and happy I returned to Safian & Rudolph for this special purchase. Once again, they demonstrated why after many years they are the best on Philly’s Jewelers Row. t

Although Safian & Rudolph is lauded for its work with gemstones, I decided to drop off a a few metal pieces that needed alterations. One of the pieces was a monogrammed tie clip belonging to my grandparents that I was hoping to have made into a pendant. We discussed options, settled on a chain and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out (see photo section). The finished product is exquisite. Plus, I was thrilled with how quickly the work was done so close to the holidays — I was able to pick everything up before Christmas.
The obvious choice is to go here for diamonds but I highly recommend Safian & Rudolph for alterations to any of your jewelry pieces. Plus, you get the added benefit of getting to witness excited couples and boyfriends pick out engagement rings :)

I went in with my boyfriend to get a) my ring finger sized — yep :) — and b) my watch sized and battery replaced. They sized me with no problem, were not pushy at all when they realized we weren’t purchasing that day (didn’t even say a word!) and had my watch sized and battery special ordered and replaced within the week. For EIGHT DOLLARS! Talk about awesome. I enjoy when places know how to treat customers, even lowly watch sizing/​battery buying customers. Great work!

A few years ago I bought an engagement ring and visited the majority of the shops along Jeweler’s Row. In general it is an overwhelming experience. First of all, I didn’t know anything about diamonds and rings other than some research online. Second of all, this was basically the biggest purchase I had ever made.
In general I didn’t get bad service at any of the shops around Jeweler’s Row and if you are willing to jump from store to store you can definitely work prices down, as every jeweler assures you that they will beat the prices of any other place. I avoided places like Stephen Star since I didn’t think drinking beer and eating cookies was a vital part of a shopping experience in which I would be spending a few thousand dollars. Eventually I worked my way to Safian and Rudolph, thanks a lot to the fact they are open on Sunday and have evening hours on Wed.
The service was friendly and informative. I had pricing for diamonds and bands from a number of other stores and Safian was able to beat the pricing on a diamond of similar size and color, cut, clarity ratings. They also provide free yearly appraisals and free basic cleaning and tightening of the ring whenever you want.
They will also validate parking for the lot across the street.

This was one of the pushiest Jewelers I went to. They were pushing me hard to commit to the first diamond I saw, saying «What do we have to do to get you to buy this diamond right now».
I felt they would tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to buy the diamond. I was looking at a diamond with better Color (i.e. meaning no color) than Clarity and was told «Color is much more important to a diamond than Clarity» but then when my Jeweler went in the back to get another diamond for me to look at, I heard another Jeweler near me tell a customer «Clarity is much more important to a diamond than Color». See the contradiction?
Also, one other thing that really made me mad about them is they require you to put $ 100 dollars down to hold a diamond for a few days in their storage. It is common practice for Jewelers to hold diamonds a couple days for you while you make your decision, but usually is for free. I went to 11 Jewelers and this was the only Jeweler that made me put money down to hold a diamond for a day or two while I decided on if I was going to get it or not. They told me I would get the $ 100 dollars back with no problems so I agreed to do it. Supposedly they gave me a receipt for the $ 100 but when I came back and told the same Jeweler I dealt with that I decided to go with another Jeweler, he refused to give me back my $ 100 dollars because I did not have the receipt. I told them I did not know if I even still had the receipt and an argument ensued. It wasn’t I like was not returning an object/​item. This was a $ 100 dollar deposit to hold a diamond in their possession (not mine), that had my name & my credit card number on a slip attached to it to identify who the diamond was being held for. The Jeweler even admitted remembering me put the $ 100 deposit on it. I eventually told them if they did not give me my $ 100 dollars back, I would call my credit card company up (who I had for 10+ years and never had any problems with) and I would dispute the $ 100 dollar charge. Finally, after this threat, they gave me the $ 100 dollars back.
Now the ONLY reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 star is because I feel like if you really know your stuff about diamonds and you are the type of person that can handle pressure salesmen, then you can get a decent deal from them. However, you have to really know diamonds (including their prices relative to their specifications, i.e. 4Cs & certifications) and have the ability to handle there very pushy attitude.

I can, however, tell you how great Richie (and Safian & Rudolph as a jewelry store) is since I’ve been in post-​proposal. I’ve known Richie for years as a friend and my fiancé (yay!) decided to go see him to buy my engagement ring. My fiancé has said how nice Richie was throughout the process, which I assume would be difficult for any man, and how helpful he was in making huge decisions.
The ring itself, obviously without any personal bias, is the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen. The setting is exactly what I dreamed of and it could not be more perfect!
My ring was a bit big on my finger when I got it and I went to Safian & Rudolph the next day. Within hours, it was fixed! I’m really pleased with how easy it’s been to walk in and ask for assistance and receive what I need right away.
Going to Jewelers Row can be daunting and you may be concerned about pricing, reputation, etc. Go see Richie at Safian & Rudolph — you won’t be disappointed with the quality and service you receive!
