History

Established in 2014.

Owner Shellie has always been a fan of both dogs and cats, but in 2011 was hired by a large dog walking company to work with pets professionally. She soon moved on to work for one other large company, before branching out to start something herself. She started So Phetch officially in 2014 and it has been going strong since.

Shellie is a South Philly resident and when not walking clients dogs she can be found alongside her best friend, a pug named Oliver. Oliver suffers from serious separation anxiety and requires lots of extra love and time, which Shellie is more than willing to give! They can be found walking around the East Passyunk neighborhood going into all of the pet friendly stores and coffee shops.

I give 1star because the actual dog walker I had during my 3 months using So Phetch Philly was great. However, the business management and business know-​how of So Phetch Philly is lacking. Shellie took me on as a client when I moved to South Philly. After 3 months, she told me that she could no longer offer me services because the walker could fit in another client in the time it took him to get to my place. I question why Shellie took me on as a client in the first place. Either she lacked the business sense to foresee that the distance would not work, or she was only looking out for herself and having a client for the time being. After 3 months, I was in the position of having to search for a new dog walker. Finding someone I trust to be in my home unsupervised, with access into my home at any time, and taking care one of the most important things in my life is not something I expect to do every 3 months.
Shellie did provide me a referral in my area… an individual, not a company. And the person never responded to me. After letting Shellie know my disappointment, she changed her story to say that schedules change, etc., etc. Either way, a daily client should not be dropped for any reason. I would not recommend So Phetch Philly to anyone, as they could certainly drop any other client when ever it works in their favor.
Also, the previous review from J.B. is from Shellie’s previous boss. I would not recommend those services either. I loved the dog walker I had through Happy Tails as well, but the only times (yes, timeS) I came home to find my dog sitting in his crate, covered in his own feces, is after Jamie walked him and had reported that he «just peed a bunch.» But I won’t get into that review here.

Shellie has taken care of my pets for several years and I wouldn’t trust them with anyone else. Her love and understanding of animals is apparent from the moment you meet her. I have several cats and two dogs, and all took a liking to her immediately. My cats are very skittish so this says a lot when they approached her after a few minutes of her coming to meet them in my home. I wouldn’t trust many people with my home and animals. I highly recommend her!
