Walk It Like A Dog

My previous service «fired» my dog Maggi. She is a senior and does require special attention. I asked my vet for help. He found Walk It Like a Dog for me.
I couldn’t be happier. Not only does Walk it Like a Dog not consider Maggi a burden, but appears to enjoy having her as a client. Rich, the owner, assigned us Jessica Jessica is not only responsive to Mag’s needs but is very loving and attentive. She frequently is making helpful care suggestions. I travel for work at times and feel so very comfortable with Jess being in my home with Maggi. I don’t worry at all.
I also love the company’s technology: I know when an appointment has started and finished: I receive a report right away.
Finally, the business includes a pet supply store, so anything you need can be purchased and delivered at the time of the walk. Great service.
As you can tell, I really do love this company. So does Maggi: a 5 bark rating ! (probably 10 for Jessica).

Absolutely stellar pet sitting. Rich and his people have taken care of our two cats twice, so far, when we’ve gone away for extended weekend trips. One of our cats is on prescription food and was on medication too, this past trip. Rich and his folks made sure the visits were timed correctly for the medication schedule, and they sent very friendly, detailed notes after each visit, including comments that only could’ve been made by someone who was being very attentive. This last trip, we were camping and had no internet or access to email, so the sitters sent really nice, detailed texts after each visit. The whole operation is great. So reliable, so easy-​going, and so affordable.

Rich and his crew are wonderful and reliable. I work long hours including nights and weekends and they were always able to accommodate my needs. They always leave the house clean and I loved their technology that showed when my dog was walked and how it went. And my dog always seemed happy when I got home, which is the most important thing. I had a previously terrible experience with PhilaPets, so I was happy to find a dog walking company I could depend on. I recently moved, and finding a new dog walker was the saddest part of leaving Philly!

Great and dependable service. Our dogs were very happy and relaxed when we returned from vacation. Their use of technology is awesome and their communication is excellent after every visit.

Very knowledgeable staff. One of the only places I can find Annamaet Dog Food, which seems to agree best with my Boston Terrier.

Finding a dog walker within our area was very difficult, until our dog trainer recommended us to Walk It Like A Dog. The owner Rich came out personally to meet with us and took time to answer any questions… and as first time dog owners we had plenty. I cannot speak highly enough about our walker Nikki! Scout is always well taken care of and eagerly awaits her daily visit. You can tell they genuinely care about the dogs are are customer oriented with the technology they employ. We recently had a bizarre incident occur. When Nikki arrived she found a window broken above our dog’s crate and glass scatter about. They went above and beyond their duties to ensure the health and well being of scout. They not only gave him a bath, but they also cleaned up the mess and gave him extra attention to ensure he was not acting abnormal. They are excellent with communicating with their clients! I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a dog walker and I eagerly drop their name whenever a passerby asks!

I’ve been using Walk it Like A Dog for about 9 months for daily walks. A few things have prompted me to start looking for an alternate walking service… the first being that the price of walks just increased due to“improvements to their technology”. This is obnoxious because they don’t need all the bells and whistles that they offer (scan in/​out for walks, emails, etc)… a hand written note or a text from the walker would be perfectly fine. What they need is an owner who is responsive… maybe this means more than one person managing a pet supplies shop AND a pet walking service. I’ve also had some suspicions about my dog’s walker… just little things like using my glassware for water (not to be mean, but seriously bring your own water bottle or something), tracking mud through my bedroom into my bathroom, leaving food wrappers on my couch and counters, etc. Also they have a gps tracker on the phone they use to scan in, which shows where they go for a walk. The walker consistently takes my dog 2 blocks and then back… for a 30 minute walk. Bottom line — I suggest finding a more grass roots walking service. This one is trying to be modern by using technology instead of just doing a good job.

Just stopped in this afternoon to pick up something special for my dog’s birthday. They were so helpful and very knowledgable about all the different products they carry. I ended up getting a beef trachea and a cookie for my pup, which she quickly devoured. Reasonable prices for the treats and the great customer service ensure that I will return again!

I am a regular shopper and ad hoc user of their dog walking services. I buy my food here, which was recommended to me by Rich, the owner, after a discussion about dry skin and soft stools. The food my dog eats now is also local (bonus) and she loves it and has not had issues since starting to eat it. The store always has a supply of what I am looking for, and prices are reasonable or at least competitive for what other local stores offer as well.
As for the dog walking services, personally, this is where they shine. I’m not a regular 5 day a week walk needed person. I do however travel on short notice or need them for random weekend walks. I have scheduled walks with little to no notice and only once was unable to get a walk scheduled. They are always accommodating and work to find a way to get my dog into their schedule. Their walkers, especially Lucas, are so great, my dog loves them. I also like their walk technology which emails you when the walker arrives and leaves and is done via scanning a code in your house — which makes is very hard or impossible to cheat the system and shows how long your dog was walked and/​or with someone.

When I was searching for a sifting litter box, I stopped in here to see if they had one.
They didn’t, but the girl at the front desk took my phone number to see if the owner could order one for me.
A few days later he gave me a call, we talked about what I was looking for, and the next day it was at the store for me to pick up. He even texted to let me know it was in.

What an unbelievable service Walkitlikeadog provides. So consistent– I’ve relied on them last minute and for planned vacations — they never disappoint!!!

A few weeks ago, something came up and we needed a last minute dog walker on a Sunday afternoon. I contacted a dozen places, got auto-​responders from a couple, and Rich was the ONLY ONE to write me back a real response. I told him our situation, that we wanted to set up a relationship with a dog walker for when this happens in the future, and maybe have regular appointments for someone to come over and take our dogs out. Even though it was last minute, he said it would be no problem and we set up the meet and greet on the day before we needed the dogs walked. At this point he knew that we were still unsure about needing someone on a regular basis, but we wanted to keep our options open. He was fine with that. This, again, makes Walk It Like A Dog the ONLY place in Philly that will take your dogs out on a weekend without you having to set up regular, weekly appointments. No one else will take you on as an as-​needed customer.
Before he got there, Rich called me to tell me that we actually live outside their coverage area. It was only by a few blocks, but they do have this information on their website. In my frenzy to find someone last-​minute, I overlooked it. Rich said that even though this was the case, since he had committed to take our dogs out on that Sunday, he would still do it. I really just can’t say enough about how awesome that was. He basically did us a huge favor and he hadn’t even met us yet. He came over as planned for the meet and greet and spent as much time getting to know our dogs as I think he would have spent if we were coming on board as regular, weekly customers. He took his time warming up to our very shy puppy. He made sure she would be comfortable with him before leaving and didn’t rush her at all. He answered all of our neurotic questions, said exactly what he would do, and when he left, we felt our dogs would be in great hands, even with a stranger. Sunday came and Rich walked the dogs as planned. He called to let us know he was there, and called when he left. Our dogs got to pee and we got peace of mind knowing we weren’t subjecting them to a long day without being let out.
I can’t say enough about Rich and Walk It Like A Dog. If you’re in the market for a new dog walker, absolutely give them a try. I hope they’ll expand into our area so we can use them again.

Finding Walk it like a dog was one of the best things that happened for me and my dog, Zella. I use their dog walking, cat sitting, and overnight services as well as shopping at the store. From day one all the employees have been friendly and helpful. Not only are they willing to order anything products I need, but the owner has opened the store for me when I have needed something during off hours. My dog loves visiting the store so much she pulls me towards the store everyday on our walks and insists on going in for a treat and love.
I have used the cat sitting services more times than I can count. Since I started using them my cats don’t even seem to notice that I’ve been gone. They are happy and relaxed when I return. I receive text messages frequently letting me know the cats were doing well.
Zella is walked several times a week by Walk it like a dog. I get a confirmation email for every walk that I schedule and NEVER once have they missed a walk. They are respectful and trustworthy. They care about Zella as much as I do. They have come on short notice and even have cleaned up trash when Zella has made a mess. Recently my house was broken in to while I was at work and Zella was let out of the house. When I called the store in a panic, the owner went to my house, found out that Zella was picked up by animal control and was on his way to pick her up before I even left work to come home.
In every aspect of this business they go above and beyond to help me and to care for my pets.

I both shop at the store and use the dog walking service. They have a limited but choice selection of premier dog foods and treats. They deliver!
I can’t say enough about the dog walking service. I signed them on to walk my dog in the last weeks of his life when he was no longer interested in doggie daycare. The walkers were so kind to my old boy and even carried him up and down the flight of stairs to my apartment when he could not do it himself.
I do have to recognize some of the issues raised by some of the people who have given bad reviews. My experience was good because I am more than little obsessive about my dog and checked in with the dog walker regularly during by text to make sure there was no problem about timing.

It took me a while to write this review because I thought I should cool down about it before I sounded nasty.
I had an emergency trip I needed to take and I just couldn’t get back in time to walk my dogs. I had never used a dog walker or a boarder before. Based on the reviews here I called Walk It Like A Dog. I gave them a lot of credit for taking me on as a new client last second.
They came to our apartment a few days before and Rich and Tristan were awesome. They were definitely the kind of guys I would go have a drink with and my two dogs really seemed to get along well (which is odd).
So I made extra sets of keys and left a check and instructions on my table and felt great because my dogs would be alright and I could take my time. In hindsight I should have called to confirm that morning, but it was only two days since their «meet & greet» so I thought I was OK.
It was a good thing my event ended early and the traffic gods were on my side so I was able to return within 12 hours.
I came back and found that the check was still there and the leashes had not been moved.
They didn’t show up at all! I was fuming and called Rich directly on his cell phone. It took him until the next day to find Tristan and figure out why he didn’t show.
The only response I got from Rich was «I’m really sorry, man. I don’t even know what to say». I immediately requested my two sets of keys and told them to lose my number. When I picked up my keys from his shop, they threw in a $ 20 gift card, like that would make up for not showing up.
I also recently got a follow up email that Rich’s iPhone was stolen and not to worry «WE DO NOT KEEP ALARM CODES IN THE PHONE, just your name, number and address» That makes me feel soooo much better.

I don’t use their dog walking services, so I cannot comment, but I do shop there for my dog food and treats (and toys occasionally). My one dog has horrible stomach issues and usually cannot stay on the same food for more then three weeks. Rich, the owner, gave me some samples to try, including the Verus fish formula. We’ve been feeding this food for what seems like forever at this point. It is extremely reasonably priced and they always have what I need in stock.
They carry a variety of foods, but not too many mainstream brands but I love getting the Three Dog Bakery treats for my two and I find their stomachs don’t react like they used to to their old treats and food. I also love the variety of high quality toys they carry. I find that they last longer and my dogs love them.
I also like the fact that they are eco-​friendly. They email you your receipt which I prefer than paper receipts I just throw away.

I rated it 4 stars out of five, because there are more brands of foods, and some products I’d like to see them carry regularly, and I think their poo bags are a bit overpriced for a 4-​pack, but I definitely prefer coming here as opposed to Accent on Animals, the other pet-​supply store in walking distance to my apartment.
I love their support of the local animal rescue, PAWS, and they have fantastic customer service. Though my pit bull is terrified of the resident store cat!

5 stars for customer service. When they first opened, they did not carry a hard to find food that I had been traversing across town to pick up for my dog with allergies. Knowing that I was local, they started to carry the food, yay.
Over the New Year holiday I ran out of food. Meant to pick it up, forgot. First time I have actually ran out of food and when I realized, it was too late… holiday weekend and the store was closed. So I borrowed some food from a neighbor… not ideal because it wasn’t the special food… and I called /​e-​mailed the store to see if they could help me over the holiday weekend and sure enough after coordinating his hectic walking schedule, he contacted us to meet him at the store to pick up the food.
