Little slow getting checked in, but ive had worse.
They tried to hardsell an upgrade… nope…and as i suspected got bumped up for free.
Could have been a bit cleaner, but this aint the high priced national chains.
Good rates, and no hastle return. They get most of my business for that reason.

These people LIED to my FACE.
I booked a compact car online, went to pick it up and was told «we can’t guarantee that you’ll get a 4-​door car.» I was a little frustrated, but I just said fine, and upgraded to an economy car for an extra $ 70 or so. Went down to the lot to pick it up, and asked the employee down there if they had any 2-​door cars, and he said no. They don’t even have 2-​door cars!
Summary: the employee LIED to me so I was forced to spend more money. I can’t think of a worse business practice. Never. Again.

They own EZ Car Rental, which is right next to their counter. Please read my review of EZ below and do not patronize Advantage – they are the same company and incredibly unethical!
BAIT AND SWITCH. BAIT AND SWITCH. BAIT AND SWITCH. Do not go near this place or even Advantage Car, who also owns EZ. The price online is unbelievably cheap compared to other rental cars and, unfortunately, I was stupid enough to book it.
Their quoted $ 7.00/day «Midsize» car is actually an Economy Car at any other rental agency. Thus, you are forced to «upgrade» to a car you thought you were getting in the first place. Of course they give you an «80%» discount on an appropriately sized vehicle… and say it will now be $ 15.00/day. Well… you are angry but resigned until they print the Summary of Charges. Now, in addition to the $ 15.00/day for a larger car, you are also forced to pay the original $ 7.00/day charge, making it a total of $ 22.00/day.
We walked next door to ENTERPRISE and had a fantastic experience. Honest people, fair pricing, superb customer service.

Worst company and worst customer service ever!!! If you’re looking to book a vehicle and then get downgraded when you walk up to the counter, this company is for you. Yes, you read right — DOWNGRADED!!! I booked a mid-​sized vehicle online for the weekend and when I showed up to pick up the car, was told that I would be getting a compact car instead for the price… WHAT?! And as far as explaining the situation to one of the super under-​qualified reps at the counter (I had the «pleasure» of dealing with Steve), good luck; you’re better off talking to the wall.
I think this company is called «advantage» because it takes advantage of their customers. They give you a price online, you PAY for the vehicle to reserve it, but when you show up to pick it up, magically you/​re been downgraded to a smaller vehicle, and if you insist on picking up the vehicle you’ve reserved, the price is much higher — oh, plus more taxes and fees added. Sounds like a sweet deal, don’t you think? Then if you ask for management so they can resolve the issue, you such a runaround where they answer your question without really answering it just leaving you more confused and frustrated with the whole situation.
The only person with a brain, common sense (which let’s face it, isn’t so common anymore), and common courtesy is the guy that actually directs you to which vehicle is yours — which is Paul. He went above and beyond to rectify the situation and give me the vehicle I had actually reserved and paid for. He took his time to ensure that I was leaving happy, so if you’re reading this, Paul, thank you! Advantage should give you a raise, and recognize you for being awesome!!! But that doesn’t change the fact that I will never again rent from Advantage. Me thinks not!

If I could give Advantage Rental Car a «0» I would! We rented a car through a 3^rd party vendor,
and it clearly stated the «amount due at pickup.» Then they tell me I need $ 200 more for deposit. We argue that this was not stated anywhere on the email. I told them this is deceitful advertising. A manager comes and so ask her to show me in the terms and conditions where it states I will need more than what I was told. She said, «We are refusing to do business with you and you need to leave or I will call security. This company is an insult to humanity!!! I

You REALLY need to listen to the one star folks here. There is a reason the cars are cheaper. I wish I had the ability to put the Seinfeld rental car episode on here. Our experience was an exact copy. They knew how to take the reservation but not how to keep it. Reserving any type of car is simply a crapshoot. I agree the car was dirty before we got it, as others have stated. If you have a few extra hours and just need some additional frustration in your life, this is the rental car company for you.

What a disappointment. Our car’s upholstery was filthy, and included a cigarette burn. The inspection process was near non-​existent and our car was covered with dents and scratches and apparent sideswipes. To add insult to injury, the taxes and fees cost more than the rental itself (thanks Arizona). I guess expecting the satellite radio to work is more than I should have expected.
I will stick with the bigger names next time.
Oh yes! I sent an email to their customer service the day we picked up the car (in November) and promptly received an automated reply from a Dawn Campbell indicating that she was out of office until October 16^th. Of what year, I wonder, because I still haven’t had an actual reply regarding my concerns. Now THAT is customer service!

Make sure to check the windshield. will never rent from this company.

I booked a car through AMEX Travel, and at the time, I appreciated Advantage’s lower prices compared to other services. On the day of my arrival in Phoenix, I arrived later than my original pickup time for the car and was told they released my reservation because I didn’t pick up timely. While I understand Advantage’s biz reasons, a text to me asking to extend my pickup time would’ve been appreciated and a good biz practice. The new quote for my rental reservation doubled to more than $ 350 for three days. I told the young man I’m not willing to pay that. He came back with another quote and I again told him I’m not going to pay that amount, and Ubering during my stay in Phoenix would be cheaper. He said he’d ask his manager to lower the quote. He came back with a more reasonable quote but still about $ 50 more than the original quote I booked through AMEX Travel.
I applaud the young man who helped me because although I was irritated by the higher quote, he remained calm and professional. I suspect he was simply following the biz practices Advantage has instituted. So an extra star for the young man who remained calm and handled the situation the best he could.
I won’t be renting from Advantage in the future.

Our Hyundai Accent was super clean and looked brand new. We rented the car for four days at $ 8.99 a day, which after all the taxes and concession fees (thanks Sky Harbor for tacking on $ 6/​day) came to about $ 76. A screaming deal!
The gentleman at the counter was friendly and efficient. The line moved fairly quickly. Make sure you check over your car carefully before, and note all defects on the paperwork that you give to the attendant. Drive carefully. Fill up the tank before you return your car.

Blown away by my experience tonight. So i booked online through priceline and after i presented my az driver license i was asked to provide proof of insurance. My mother from out of state didn’t have to show insurance a few weeks ago so i was confused. I showed him my policy number and payment receipts but he wanted the dates of policy.. um what does that matter? people have coverage start and end dates it doesn’t mean that they actually pay and are covered. After saying «if u can’t show me I’m NOT renting you the car» i said, whatever what do i do if i choose to cancel he said” here you go, go to Fox your done here” and SLAPPED my card and license on counter. He cancelled my reservation because i stepped out of line to scour my emails and when i found policy dates he said «Ur already voided i cancelled your reservation» thanks for ruining my holiday weekend. He knew we needed that car to go up north. No wonder your the only company with «cars available» On labor day weekend you suck!!!
On a side note — my mother rented a car a few weeks ago and it had filthy stained seats, broken window, and broke visor that hung down obstructing the windshield. We had to take 15 pics for proof that we got the car in that condition.

Integrity means a lot in business and especially to consumers. I am very disappointed in the service I received yesterday from This car rental facility. I reserved a car online a week in advance and upon arrival the price of the car rental for the same duration and same car had almost tripled. Yes tripled. After threatening to leaving three times, only then was I given the price originally quoted. I have never had to renegotiate a price of a rental car after reserving.
I’m a very experienced travel and never have I experienced such a lack of integrity.
I don’t normally write reviews but the poor performance warranted a review. I’ve never experienced this with any of their competitors.

I would give no stars if I could. They are not upfront with their online prices at all. The staff is rude and when they know they aren’t going to help you or do anything about it they laugh. Call corporate they said. This place has such bad reviews for a reason. I wish I would have checked here first. Go to HERTZ or BUDGET and save yourself some money and a headache!

I was leery about using this agency based on Unilocal reviews I had read. However, I know that they recently merged with E-​Z Rent-​A-​Car, which I used several times in Las Vegas, so I was willing to give them a try. In fact, I made my reservation through the E-​Z Rent-​A-​Car website.
The service I received at Advantage in Phoenix was nearly identical to the service I received at E-​Z in Las Vegas. I was fortunate in that when I arrived at the rental car center, the building was nearly empty. No lines — ding!
The gentleman processing my rental was polite and friendly. I was given a choice of two cars for my Intermediate selection. I politely declined the typical add ons and options that rental car agencies usually offer and was on my way in a very short time. My car was a Mazda5, which ran well and had no problems during my rental period. Returning the car was extremely fast and easy.
I can only speak from my own experience, which was that I got a great price on my rental, received friendly prompt service and had no problems whatsoever. I would certainly recommend Advantage at PHX based on my rental. Thanks!

I had a great experience with Advantage here at Phoenix Airport location.
I rented a 2014 Toyota Camry and it was nice and clean. No problems finding the car. Service was excellent. The lady at the counter told me about the Grand Canyon and the vortexes in Sedona … thanks to her advice I ended up in Sedona for some spiritual healing.
Also prices were better than competitors, and allowed me to opt out of the insurance since I already had it. I ended up extended it for another week. Line up was a bit long though, but so were other counters at the time.
Will rent from here again next time I’m in Arizona!

Tons of employees in back, but none that were willing to help with the long line of customers.
Cheap rental and everything went fine. But I would rather pay more for better customer service.

AVOID this place, over 30 people in line at 10:00 am on a Monday, waited over 1 hour for service! UNACCEPTABLE!
If there is a manager who understands customer service get a new job! Switching to Enterprise for 8 dollars more and no line!

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! We reserved our full size car online and when we arrived to pick up the car, I asked how much an upgrade would be for a minivan so that we would have enough space for my family and all of our luggage. The guy at the counter asked me if I was military so I told him yes and he said he could give us the super deal discount of $ 39/​day. At first I thought this was too good to be true but the counter salesman kept telling me how Advantage takes great care of our military and that’s the best discount. Then he kept thanking me for my service and had me feeling really appreciated. Of course my family was getting impatient after a long flight and so I zipped through declining all the «extras». All was great! The minivan was awesome up until I went to return it.
Upon return, I get the bill of over $ 700 for a week long rental!!! When I asked that something was wrong the guy was rude and stand-​offish saying that I was in error and to look at my paperbark. When I looked real closely, it showed that I not only paid for my original full size reservation but I was charged an additional upgrade fee of $ 39/​day. Needless to say I was a bit livid and asked to speak to the manager and the same jerk who helped me with the car return states that he is the manager and that there’s nothing he can do. I tried repeatedly to just shave some of the price for the misunderstanding but he wouldn’t budge and just shooed me away as others were waiting to return their car.
I walked away fuming but then thought about how many other Soldiers this company may scam/​con into paying more than what they were told. I had to do something to make this manager understand that what he was doing was wrong so I walked back to give him a piece of my mind in hopes that at least his conscience would remember not to do this to another Soldier. I basically degraded him for cheating a Soldier and for using «military discount» to scam Soldiers (who don’t get paid a whole lot) and then I «thanked him for his service!» Wow, I will never ever use this place ever again and have recommended the same to all my Soldiers. Definitely also calling the BBB on them too.

When I returned the rental, the return inspection agent tried to accuse me of a scrape that was on the car before I got it and it was clearly marked on my checkout slip… No apologies from Paul. How dare him!
