History

Established in 2007.

J & R Automotive Specialists was opened on February 1st, 2007 and relocated to our new location near I-​17 and West Northern Avenue on February 1st, 2014. Our goal is to provide the best service at the best rates without wasting your time. We are proud to be a long time member of the Better Business Bureau, Certified by the ASE and the State of Arizona as an Emission Technician. I had trouble shifting gears in my Honda Accord and had taken it to Pep Boys for a diagnostic. They stated I needed a master and slave cylinder replacement on my clutch. They priced me $ 580 for repairs. I called around to see the competitive pricing and, after reading Unilocal reviews I called J&R’s. The first thing Raul said to me (one of the owners) was that you don’t have to replace the slave cylinder every time you replace the master cylinder. He was the only one who told me this and he offered competitive pricing, so I made an appointment to bring my car in. Unfortunately my car broke down on freeway while I was driving. I had my car towed to J&Rs and they gave me a free ride to work (30 min drive) while they diagnosed my car. Raul called me back to say that neither cylinders were broken and that the issue was my clutch pedal had broken. He fixed it for me that day and then kept my car for me in the shop overnight since I had no way to go get it before they closed. I met with John (other owner) the very next day while picking up my car and he even met me a little early at the shop. Both were very professional, honest and great to work with! This is an experience unlike any other. The only regret I have is that I’ve never gone to them before. I will never go to another auto shop again! They saved me over $ 430 dollars and unnecessary repairs to my car. Now my car runs good as new!

My husband and I were in Phoenix on a Saturday and Sunday for business. We drove in from Boulder City, Nevada. Not far from Phoenix Friday night we noticed a vibration in the car that wasn’t right. We asked at our motel desk about a local mechanic and were referred almost next door to J&R who were already closed for the evening. We went over Saturday morning and they were already booked solidly for the day but said that they would work our car in to look at it and give us an idea about what might be wrong. They called us back within a couple of hours with a list of problems and the total fees for the various repairs and the urgency or lack of same for each. We had to leave town the next day so there wasn’t time for them to do the most important repair, but if there hadn’t been a time constraint, we totally would have used this company. The service and professionalism was outstanding. While my husband was in his meeting, I went back to get my car and Robert showed me on the undercarriage and under the hood exactly what the problems were and gave me a list of the repairs to take home to my local mechanic. The time and care explaining these things to me was indicative of superior service and honesty. All of this time and service for under $ 50. This was the best deal in Phoenix in my book. I wish I lived there just to be near these guys.
