History

Established in 1953.

Sonic, America’s Drive-​In, originally started as a hamburger and root beer stand in 1953 in Shawnee, Okla.,

called Top Hat Drive-​In, and then changed its name to Sonic in 1959. The first drive-​in to adopt the Sonic

name is still serving customers in Stillwater, Okla. Sonic has more than 3,500 drive-​ins coast to coast,

DO NOT COME! On half days for the schools. The kids come here and loiter and the majority of them don’t eat. They ride skateboards and bounce basketballs. The manager needs to grow some balls and get out there and make them leave if they are not eating or ordering food they are taking up space to paying customers.

It is fast food and reminiscent of all fast food. Clearly Sonic is about shakes and deserts. This location continues that. What distinguishes the location is the group of young people that always have a positive attitude. They provide their name and check back with about ½ through your service.

I gave this sonic one star because everytime I go here it smells of raw sewage. I think they have an issue with their septic system. The employees don’t seem to mind the smell. We try to stop in once in a while because we love sonic but I am not about to sit somewhere and breathe that smell, let alone eat food prepared from a place with those fumes roaming around. I don’t think we will go back.

Food isn’t great. Standard fast food. Shakes and drinks are good. I like this location because its one of the few fast food options in Anthem that seems to care about customer service. They always have a good attitude and smile and are quick. If they do screw up they are quick to make it right.

They are fast, friendly, and they even have a dog treat for my pup when we drive through. Have never had any problems. They have never messed up our orders (a rarity in this area). That alone merits four stars!
