Tim is the guy to call if you had a emergency. If you want someone who knows his job well and won’t cost you a fortune. We found Tim from Berkeley parents network.
PG&E came shut down the power because new tenants forgot to switch into their names. And PG& E made us pull a special permit from the city which only electrician can get. Tim went in the craw space, attic and inside to check all the wiring (it took him a long time to check everything about 1 day.)

We’ve been delighted with the electrical and general contracting work Tim Wright performed for our home in Berkeley in the spring of 2010. He came to the job prepared to listen, and he provided advice on how to save money both with his work and with other contractors (painters, landscapers, sewer technicians and roofers) that had separate work to do on the property. Tim remained fair and listened well to our concerns as the work proceeded.
Tim revised unsafe areas in our wiring and breakers, encapsulated old ductwork, repaired broken concrete and woodwork, and extended our backyard deck with repair of rotted areas of the decking. When given the opportunity to take lucrative steps with our work, he found cheaper alternatives that I feel saved us both time and money in the end. He finished all of his work well before other electricians were scheduled to give their estimate (!). His workers were respectful and careful: my wife even took to referring to his main assistant as ‘the Gentle Giant.“
As well, Tim’s business is local, and he’s got extensive knowledge of local contractors and home inspectors (including what they’ll flag on inspection) as well as local real estate markets. His advice goes well beyond the job at hand.
We have no doubt we’ll be hiring Tim again.

Tim rewired our 1930s house, gave us a great bid, and told us what we needed to do immediately (the walls were HOT when we plugged anything in!), what we could upgrade/​add, as well as projects that we could hold off on or didn’t need to do at all. After interviewing and getting bids from about 6 different electricians, Tim Wright was refreshingly honest, respectful, fair, and gave great advice about how to deal with contractors as a naïve new homeowner.
We had a TERRIBLE experience with a sub-​contractor (Mark at «A1 Electric») who overcharged us by about 3X the going rate for an upgrade, was amazingly inept at his work, lied about the extent of work that needed to be done, and never finished the (typically 2 day) job, even after 5 or 6 visits (including missing two scheduled appointments with the inspector).
I called Tim Wright to do the rest of the upgrade of our ancient knob and tube wiring throughout our house. The line to the dishwasher that A1 claimed couldn’t be fixed without substantial work came on instantly – after Tim simply pointed out the connections and plugged it into the wiring box. Tim’s crew came on time, got the work done, and was GREAT about cleaning up the dust and plaster mess that’s inevitable with electrical work in an old house.
Tim was a wonderful communicator, bid at a fair price, employed really great guys, and checked up on the work. His guys took the time to explain the most arcane questions I had about the crazy DIY-​wiring that had been done over the years. They also worked well even when A1 randomly showed up to try to fix part of the upgrade that they’d messed up for the third time – Tim’s crew made the best of what could have been a terribly uncomfortable situation and simply worked around them.
