Came down from Chicago, as they offered the same ACL procedure for ¹⁄₃ the price and this wonderful facility offers high quality care and most important a board certified surgeon. My first impression was that the place was clean and well cared for and the people were nice. At this point you’ll have to look over their one major oddity, they take the dog to be examined and you won’t be present, but after the brief exam the vet goes over everything.
They care deeply about the animals they work on and are sensitive to their owners. They call u before the procedure commences and as soon as it ends. They even text a photo at the end of the day if the dog stays there over night.
The next day I came back and they slowly and in great detail go over everything that happened and needs to happen to ensure a successful recovery. Dr dean and his wife and the receptionist are wonderful, super friendly and caring people who clearly are passionate about what they do and do well. I’d recommend them with great confidence to any pet owner!

Dr. Dean and his wife and other staff are great. They have done surgeries on two of my dogs. Pepper had both her ACLs fixed at the same time. He charged thousands less than I would have paid in Dallas for the same TPLO, or tibial-​plateau-​leveling osteotomy procedures. Before the surgery she was dragging her back legs. Now she can stand, walk and run. For a hundred pound dog that was the difference between her having a quality of life, or not. Dr. Dean and his wife prayed over Pepper before the surgery and that made me feel so much better. They clearly care.
My other dog Buddha was hit by a car (or something) before I got him. I hoped to do a hip replacement but he was too badly damaged. So instead he had a Femoral Head and Neck Resection (FHO). We knew that would make that leg a little shorter, but now he can use it without being in pain. Dr. Dean made all the options clear (including amputation) in various price ranges. Dr. Dean first saw Buddha the same day I adopted him from the pound. Dr. Dean would not do the surgery then, but told me to take Buddha home and fatten him up first. And I did just that. Dr. Dean impressed me again about his putting concern about the animals over profit.
I trust and am very appreciative of Dr. Dean and what he has done for my dogs. He tells it to you straight – and you have to make sure you listen and follow through the the crating and home care he recommends. Dr. Dean is an extremely skilled surgeon, and his prices are reasonable. I would not hesitate to use him again. I highly, highly recommend him. I can’t say enough positive about my experiences with his surgical center. And that is high praise from me, because I am not easily impressed.

I recently took my dog in for a consultation for a torn ACL. Although the staff was friendly, they quickly pushed me back towards the waiting area and would not let me be with my dog while they examined her. After a few moments, I was taken to Dr. Dean’s office. My first impression of him was not great based on his demeanor. He wasn’t very friendly and it was hard asking him questions as he seemed irritated and wanted me to schedule the surgery soon. He also advised my dog would need surgery on both legs and suggested they both be done at the same time. Overall, their fees are extremely high. They also seemed to care more about making money the quickest they can than the wellfare of animals.
Thankfully, I decided to wait and check around for second opinions. My research found that other specialists charged less and I ended up paying two thousand dollars less.

My dog Sara needed ACL surgery. I went to the place in Carrollton and was ok with them but the quote seemed high and did not include any post op, only the surgery itself. So, I started researching other options. I found Dr Dean. I called and his wife Paula spoke to me at length. It is a little drive but only about 45 mins from my house and it’s such a nice drive that I didn’t mind a bit. The surgery went well, my dog is doing great and Dr Dean and Paula really care about each animal they see. All of the employees I spoke to or met were very helpful and nice.
I highly recommend Dr Dean.
