The tulips are beautiful! Plenty of parking, and a great set up.
The flowers are $ 2.50 a stem. For an experience, it is fun. But we left without flowers due to the price. :(

Our first visit yesterday wasn’t pleasant. The timings mentioned at few sites in internet was 9 AM — 9 PM. We weren’t sure once we got there, though, there was a sign of 9 AM — 5 PM, few folks were inside the premises. Apparently, those guys jumped the fence to get in, terrible !!! Can relate to owner’s disappointment on the whole incident, though, we also ended up being victim of his rude behavior. We had just got there and strolling outside when the guy was shouting «trouble» and «out of my property». The other folks didn’t do the right thing by trespassing his property. The guy also could have handled it in a more professional way. We aren’t going there again for his rudeness.

Visitors beware — your experience will not be the enjoyable, family friendly outing that the Texas Tulips website would lead you to believe.
Having planned a day at Texas Tulips for my mothers’s birthday, we spent some time admiring the flowers and having some snacks. I had planned to return my handicapped mother to the car then purchase some (outrageously expensive) flowers as I certainly don’t believe in freeloading.
Before I could get her to the car, we were accosted by one of the family employees, Maureen, who rudely complained that we had not purchased any flowers and that they weren’t making any money. She even curtly told my (85 yr old) mother that she wouldn’t «waste her time» answering any questions since we hadn’t bought flowers yet.
Here’s a recommendation: consider charging a small admission fee, that way you aren’t dependent upon the flower sales… people would probably be willing to pay.
I, on the other hand, will never return.

I guess the key here is to come early (in the season, not the day). We came a few weekends ago and the flowers were beautiful and there was plenty of parking. I guess, based on other reviews, that people have «discovered» this place. The owners were nice to us and yes, of course, they would like you to buy some flowers.
There were tons of people taking pictures, both professional and amateur. People even had their own props. Unfortunately, I think that they will now charge an admission next after some took advantage of their policy. Oh well, that will weed out some people and leave a better experience for the rest of us.

Beautiful piece of land and great idea, but given that so many people were LAYING in the flowers to take pictures, thus ruining some of the flowers, plus 99% of the flowers fully opened and wilting away, it was already too late to buy any, even if I wanted some. And it’s only been opened a week or so. Great idea, but not sure if it was ready for prime-​time.

Tulips are fading so we just walked & plan on next year mid March. Beautiful color for photos. The area around is great for a drive. Horse country!

We went March 30th. Most of the tulips were loosing their petals. I bought 12 tulips and it cost 30.00! By the time I got them home which was 20 minutes, many of my tulips had only one or two petals left on the stem. The male owner was rude to my daughter. Had I known this, I would not have purchased any tulips. They waited in line for 25 minutes and the owner let his friends from the Netherlands cut in front. He told my daughter to wait. After waiting another 10 minutes, he told her to go get in another line! It is fascinating to look at the rows of color when the tulips are in full bloom.

Holy mother of photo ops! There are so many amazing things about Texas-​Tulips in Pilot Point.
1) Entrance is free!
2) It’s in its first year, and not a lot of people know about it, so it’s not super crowded
3) Gorgeous rows and rows of tulips in which to plop your young children for photos
4) Family-​run; super friendly staff
You could literally make a day of coming up here (especially if you’re coming from Dallas – it’ll be kind of a trek) to roam the flowers, pick a basketful, and take photos. You pay by the flower and they are $ 2.50 each, so choose wisely (don’t let your kid grab 20 buds indiscriminately, or you’re in for a much more expensive day than you bargained for). It’s a great experience, FREE (unless you pick tulips), and you honestly get better pictures than you would at the arboretum.
Definitely worth the drive. Great family adventure during the spring. Highly, highly recommend.

40 years ago in Holland a couple started a tulip farm – 80 acres and 10 million bulbs, eventually employing their son. When that founding grandfather died, the farm was sold and the son moved grandma and his own family to the US, choosing Pilot Point, north of Dallas. This is their first year growing tulips on what is now the largest tulip farm in Texas. Their little (8-​year old?) daughter was directing parking in a field, their (11-​year-​old?) boy gave us a basket, the wife took our money, and the founding grandma wrapped up our flowers. It’s clearly a family business. They’re open through 20APR if you like flowers or want to practice your Dutch. Take your camera!
