Holiday Inn Express & Suites Pittsburgh West – Greentree

You know this was going to be a 5 star if it wasn’t for that guy customer service I spoke with that gave me wrong information. Anyway my friends and I decided to check in to this place during the Broncos and Steelers game, and I’m glad we did! The ladies in the front desk were very attentive and helpful (I wished I remember their names) the place was was very busy but they made sure to help everyone. We got the King suite and it was perfect! Breakfast was A+! Will come back again!

Check in was simple. Rooms were clean. Pool was nice and warm for December time frame. Décor was nice. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was hot and probably one the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. No complaints here!

My friends and I stayed here overnight on a recent trip to Pittsburgh. We had absolutely no issues from start to finish.
Check-​in was effortless. Everything was clean and well stocked. There were no issues with billing. The price was competitive to the area. It was easy to reach, as it’s directly off a highway exit. Each queen bed had 4 pillows: 2 «firm» and 2 «soft» which provided a nice ability to mix-​and-​match based on comfort. The beds were very comfortable overall, and everything looked to be organized and in order.
The room temperature was pretty much perfect from the get-​go and did not need to be adjusted. There were plenty of in-​room amenities and we did not need to call down to request anything that was missing. The amount of wall outlets were sufficient and scattered enough to charge our various electronics.
The wireless was fast enough and easy to sign into. One of my friends tried the pool and said it was very nice. The computers in the lobby were a nice touch for us to access some quick maps /​tourist spots of the area, and you could use the printer for free.
The complimentary breakfast buffet was plentiful with TONS of options, and all of them were delicious. We had quite the feast that morning. However, the «automated pancake machine» is a novelty at best. It takes too long to produce the pancakes to be a worthwhile tool for busy breakfast hours. Guests were lining up and everything was just slowed to a crawl there. I liked the option of International Delight hazelnut coffee creamer, haha, as that is actually my go-​to choice to add to my coffee at home.
I would have preferred a later checkout (like Noon rather than 11) but other than that small nitpick, we faced no issues with our stay and would gladly choose Holiday Inn Express again in the future.

Alright 4 stars ONLY because the wifi sucked so the wife had to eat up a ton of our monthly data posting videos and pictures from our trip and adventures. The hotel itself is clean, staff was AWESOME, and it is unbelievably convenient to get anywhere you need to downtown. We came out for a wedding that was going on downtown and then had our anniversary the same weekend. They do have a shuttle that will run you downtown and back (talk to the front desk on that one) housekeeping is top notch (Ashley went above and beyond for the wife and I and I can not praise her enough). Legit longest drive we had going anywhere downtown (yes I am one of those people who wouldn’t use the shuttle even though available) was 10 minutes. If I ever head back to this area I know where I will be staying again.

Overall the hotel is OK, being a rating that is an average of all that I experienced — some aspects not so good and others quite good.
The not so good: one of the beds was so close to the air conditioning unit that the cold air was blowing cold air right on it. And the second bed was receiving the blast also. I jury-​rigged the unit to cover much of the vent and that reduced the air flow over the beds greatly.
The Wi-​Fi worked reasonably well, but you need to sign in everyday (we were there for three days). Most other places only require a single sign-​in.
The OK: breakfast was standard fare: a few fruits, yogurt, cereals, breads, sweets, scrambled eggs or prepared omelettes, sausage. Nothing special, but plentiful.
The really good: the staff. At our check-​in, the front desk personnel were friendly and helpful, making me forget how long it took to check-​in. And the best for last: the bus service. You virtually do not need a car or a taxi to get to most of the places to visit in Pittsburgh. We had a restaurant reservation and concert performance in the Cultural District. As it turned out our activities coincided with an arts festival downtown, making parking extremely difficult, especially for someone who is not familiar with the downtown area. We made arrangements to take the 5PM departure (you do need to sign up for a specific time) and we got to our reservation in plenty of time. When the concert was over, we called the hotel and within about 15 minutes the bus arrived to take us back. Really great service.
There isn’t much around the hotel, unless you like dead shopping malls. Parking is plentiful right in front of the hotel, though shared with an office building. All-​in-​all, it was a good choice.

I stayed here for a week while attending a class for a license im working on. I really only had one complaint… the internet! Like other reviews said the internet connection in the rooms is shotty. I would say it worked 40% of the time. Super annoying.
Other than that I had a great stay. The staff was so unbelievably friendly, front desk and house keeping. Really awesome people, I got to know them through the week. The room was clean. I had a suite which was nice because it had a living room and full kitchen. I didn’t pay extra I just asked for it… they gave it to me no charge. I assume because my stay was Sunday to Friday the hotel was in no way full so why not.
This really is a great hotel option in Pitt. I must say I would have never stayed here if it had not been the class location but after I did I think I will look for hotels in this class in the future. I normally am someone snooty who likes to stay in some fancy boutique downtown (wherever) for nearly $ 300 a night. This place was ¹⁄₃ of the cost and was perfectly fine.
The shuttle takes people downtown in like 10 mins… no biggie. May as well pay low $ 100s than high $ 200s and just take the shuttle.
Breakfast is included but left a bit to be desired for a food snob like myself. I had some whole foods granola in my room. No on site restaurant… honestly I could care less in a big city who eats dinner at the hotel anyway. Bar would be nice tho.
Solid low priced option.

Rooms were clean and the amenities were fine. My problem is that the hotel double charged me for my stay. I reserved my room over the phone with the Holiday Inn hotline and was charged exactly what they quoted. When I get home to Virginia, I discover the hotel charged me again for the same stay, but I different amount. I only stayed one night and was charged twice. I was on the phone with 5 different people connected with Holiday Inn… NONE of them were of any help. They could either see one charge or the other (depending on who was looking); they told me to call back another time, when I am working; they insinuated I didn’t know what I was talking about. All I want is to get an answer and none of these people can give an answer.
This will be the last time I stay at any Holiday Inn.
Add On: The WiFi is awful.

Hotel itself is adequate. The 2 stars are for the hotel’s internet connection. I’ve stayed here twice in one week and both times were frustrating in terms of the Wi Fi. The connection drops numerous times in one session and connecting can be a chore. In terms of smartphones, don’t even bother. My iPhone just refuses to fully connect and I’ve tried everything. I stay at hotels continuously throughout the year and this hotel has the worst internet configuration out of them all.
The staff is great and helpful but as someone who travels for business, the Wi Fi connection is crucial to my experience.

The good:
–Comfy Bed. This is a priority in a hotel and HIE-​PWG delivered here.
–Powerful air conditioning– necessary for mornings after too much to drink
–Breakfast available with decent coffee
–Paul, their employee who worked at the front desk and picked us up from the airport. He was really friendly
The bad:
–The Price! $ 170 a night for a hotel not in walking distance to anything? Say what?
–The tiniest hotel bathroom ever. They could have taken about 3 feet out of the room to add to the bathroom. It was weird.
–My keycard to my room became demagnetized every time we left the room. I had to go to the front desk every time. No good.
The ugly–
The dried loogie on the elevator door that stayed there all weekend long. What, you’re telling me not a single staff member got in that elevator and was grossed out by the dried phlegm at eye-​level on the door? Nasty!

This place was great the rooms were clean and spacious the décor was modern and fresh the staff were all great and would bend over backwards to help anyway possible plus they had a free shuttle van to take you back and forth from the ball games

Beautiful hotel exterior and lobby. clean, spacious rooms, lots of closet space, ²⁴⁄₇ fitness hours, extended pool hours 6am-​11pm. Great complimentary breakfast. Close to tons of chain restaurants and fast food and a couple of family-​owned italian restaurant (Vincent’s was delicious). I loved the location, access to parking, convenience, friendliness of the staff. It was almost perfect!
The only downside (that’s why 4 instead of 5 star) is that the rooms are DARK. I had every light on and it was still pretty dark during a cloudy day. It probably doesn’t bother most people who will just come back to their hotel to sleep. It is not too unlike other hotel rooms but it seems TOO dark. Not enough light to read from unless you are in the bathroom.

This review if for the Holiday Inn-​Greentree. I was traveling in Pittsburgh for work and picked this Holiday Inn due to it’s proximity to downtown. I was not disappointed. This has been one of the better hotels I have stayed in.
The facility is very clean and the staff is very helpful. You can tell they recently renovated. Their workout facility was great, which is a nice change of pace from the majority of the hotels I have stayed in. The rooms are very spacious and have a refrigerator and microwave. This is great if you don’t feel like going out to eat. There is a Giant Eagle right down the street too.
The hotel offers free wifi which has great speed and makes working from your room easy. There is a shuttle service that runs from the hotel to down town ever hour. All you have to do is ask the front desk and they will help you coordinate. They offer a free breakfast in the morning which is always great as well.
The next time I am in the Pittsburgh area I will be returning.

Although I walked in with some hesitation (after a less than great stay at a Holiday in Columbus, OH) I am forever grateful for Chad who worked his magic and secured suites for my coworkers and I after a literal nightmare booking at the nearby Clarion (misrepresented on Hotwire). This is the most fabulous H.I. Ive seen anywhere and the service is fantastic to boot. This is a newly renovated space (used to be Best Western) but i love the lobby, the rooms, the free wifi, shuttle service, free breakfast and the fact that an elevator is always waiting for you in the lobby! If Im ever back in this neck of the woods Id be happy to stay here again. Keep up the good work guys and gals!

This is a review for Holiday Inn Express– Greentree (April 7^th).
It’s the remodeled Best Western Inn. The new Holiday Inn Greentree is beautifully remodeled and closely located to all the fun in downtown.
The rooms come equipped with a microwave & fridge! BALLING! Tired of take out? There’s a Giant Eagle (grocery store) in walking distance! Can you say CONVIENT! Free breakfast buffet for the guest? SAY WHAT? Think P Diddy status when you walk though the door and everyone is your Fonzworth Bentley.
When I return back to «the Burgh» I will definitely return back to this hotel!
